Weekend Goals and Accomplishments

Well, it was exactly as I anticipated, zero time with the bench. What with finals this week, I'll spend two days furiously cramming for my own classes, then three days furiously grading for my department work. So yeah, awful week ahead.

On the bright side our visit with Thomas and Percy was an absolute smash with the oldest daughter. She was over the moon to meet them. Always nice to see a kid bursting with joy for a while, especially when you're deep into the mire of nearly-three year old difficulties.

I'm starting to think my job as cook isn't to make a meal to be eaten but instead it's to make mushy toys for her to play with.

My daughter was a dream to look after, but she had a early stubborn streak that was stronger than me and that still hasn't changed and she is 25 next month. No matter how it tried to get her to eat vegies. I could make her stray at the table for hrs and still she refused eventually i caved. I wasn't smart enough to be a better cook and disguise them.

Sad thing is she used to LOVE veggies, then one day she just didn't. No reason, just, nope. I see there's cookbooks out there for hiding veggies, but I just can't make that kind of time. So instead we too do the stare downs, who will cave first on that tiny pile of peas.

In the end I decided life was too short and I wasn't going to win and for me sadly it was only 2 nites a week. So I wasn't going to be the awful one...

Got a couple of hours work in the morning then 45 days off. That's what you call a long weekend. Off to London on Friday on the chuffer to the V+A. Rest of the weekend I've nothing planned.

Now that's my kind of working hours.....half a day on, month and a half off

I've got watching Cricket on TV and weathering my latest build to finish a dio down for my weekend, hopefully all achievable

......unless I end up in the pub then it will all go to pot

SMHI is promising sunny and hot (up to 28 C tomorrow!) all weekend. Sounds like I'll spend my days on the Ribban beach and get no bench time at all. But my mosquito won't fly away, so I'll enjoy the sun. It won't last forever in this winter-dark and cold country.

Well, I need to finish that GTi to make the deadline for the Wheelie Good build, at a minimum get it nearly done; painted and and ready for final assembly. I've got a Floaty Thing to start and I want to continue my work on the Sci-Fi build ASAP.

Otherwise another busy weekend.

I have the short weekend again. Might get a bit of night modelling in on Fri and Sat
Got the 1/200 747 yesterday for my Mad Max dio. Have to decide to copy its shape or destroy the entire plane for the build..I am leaning toward copying.
Seriously looking into a Mac Rubber Duck truck kit for the sig in the fall. Have wanted to do this model again from the movie and this resin kit looks very good. We shall see, sent them an email.
I have ordered a few other kits over the last week b/c I was having a purchase moratorium...kiss of death, I always find cool stuff when I am trying hard not to buy anything and wind up buying more than I would normally

Hoping to finish my second build for the PTO GB tomorrow. I'm so close but going away again tomorrow evening and have a few jobs to do tomorrow so we'll see.

Get started on painting the deck of my Dragon kit of the Scharnhorst. Finished painting the hull and clear coated today. I am hoping it has cured enough by tomorrow morning that I can started on the deck. This will be my third time using a six step method I saw on you-tube that when finished will make the deck really stand out. It will take a week of masking deck planks and painting, but I really like the effect.

My major accomplishment this weekend was to bend my Boomspray on a fence then bring in a mob of sheep to send off to the sale yards. The damn sods fought me all afternoon whilst sorting out there sale categories.

Have been told that I said the words "panel lines" in my sleep.

Not exactly a goal or accomplishment but it did happen on a weekend.

Don't know whether to be worried or not but I suppose it could have been a whole lot worse.

I am up at 3 am not able to sleep perusing model sites and videos of masonry fasteners....have some temp stairs to affix to the house
I don't think I talk in my sleep about modelling however, that is just a bit scary!

Mixed bag, I got the GTi it's final gloss coat for the shell, hopefully I can try to polish this week one night so I can build up the rest. I of course haven't touched all the greebles on it, mirrors and trim and the like, so I'll need to get those primed one night as well. Tick-tock...

Got my Doms all puttied up to work on erasing seams using a few different types to compare the results. And I painted all of 6 out of the million torpedo tubes on the Garmillas battleship so some slight progress there. Time to put my head down and get through this week...

Got some rain due Wed and Thur so will get some bench time in. Off to Oz a week Friday so want to get the Hellcat finished, stuff tidied up and airbrushes cleaned etc. Had a walk round the local nature reserve today, noticeably fresher weather which is lovely. Got an MRI scan on Friday which is handy as it's near the alloy wheel repair place where I'm dropping the car to get the alloys cleaned up, so I can kill two birds with one stone there and not have to pay for hospital parking. I love it when a plan comes together.

Thursday is done thank god, busy and hard work week right to the last patient. Nice to have two models arrive from the post man at the end of my day to celebrate a weekend ahead.
And how will I spend it you may ask???? Vacuuming up drywall dust and getting the inside of the house ready for finishing guys. We are having a summer heat wave, so it really saps your energy and efficiency.
Model work on my list is continuing the Air Canada 747 with some fiber optic lighting and getting started on the 747 Mad Max plane.
Trying to not order another F4 Phantom ,but you guys have given me that bug and really am helpless to resist. May stay with the 1/72 for costs and let it add to a diorama.
The rum and coke has started

Not really sure what to expect this weekend, but I know I need to try to finish that GTi... Also close to finishing the last bits on the Gundam guide and IF there's time, Doms.

Once the GTi is done I'll be down to two builds...almost relaxing. Though, I DO have a Floaty thing to do...and I <3 Tamiya starts in 5 weeks...

Tonkin down here. Have to admit I've been hitting GTA V the last couple of days as it's double points on all the stunt races until tonight. I've primed the Hellcat and am looking at it. It's not built any more of itself.

Cooked breakfast at age concern breakfast club tomorrow morning, £6 for a help yourself to whatever. Rest of day will be spent deflecting the wife as she grows steadily in drama factor about going away next Friday. 'Have we got this, have we got that.' Don't know dear but if we haven't they do have shops in Australia. Women eh.

Don't know where your heading, but the southern area's have been fairly cool. With the northern latitudes a balmy 30 ish on average.

Off to Bris for the yearly jaunt to see the boy and grandkids. Been cool at night but warm during the day so that's about perfect

. TBH we always go in August and the weather has always been great. Not to the natives who wander around in parkas and arctic clothing while I'm in shorts and t shirt. If the weather drops below 25C the grandkids put their jumpers on and huddle together for warmth...

It was 10 degrees here and I saw a young bloke, probably about 19 on a scooter wearing shorts and a jumper huddled behind the windscreen going to work.....silly sod....workings crazy...

Well, worked on the GTi for a couple hours then consigned it to the Shelf of Doom. At least it's off my bench for a while until I figure out what to do with it (come back later with some more experience, or raid it for parts when I do the Revell Rabbit--it needs Euro bumpers).

Built a teddy bear kit with my eldest daughter as she suddenly became interested in what I do at my bench. She had a blast and now won't stop asking when next Saturday will be so we can go to the "airplane store" (LHS) and get the blue teddy bear kit.

All in all I call it a good weekend. Time to dig in for the week and get back to work on those Doms!

Still 70 miles away from my bench but managed to start construction on another 1/48 Typhoon, car-door variant this time.

Getting some sub assemblies together so that I can get painting when I get home.

Should bring a suitcase full of sanding sticks and flog them when you get here.
I have my sister in-law bringing some back from the UK next week.....damn expensive buying Ultimate products by the time you add in the postage. Be nice if you could buy them from poorer country like Spain for instance.

Another busy weekend for me. I'm hoping to finish the Zaku for the guide, get a gloss coat on that space battleship, and prime my Dom for the sci-fi build.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow morning when kiddo the elder and I go get another teddy bear kit and build it. She's been yammering all week about it and last weekends bear has been fully integrated into her Thomas play sessions.
