Paul, how do you manage the oil wash on the Zim, do you brush horizontally or top to bottom and would this leave lots of pigment in the Zim.
Sorry for the newbie question

Yes i just brush up and down allowing the wash to collect in the aim, i then run a cotton bud over the top to remove it from the very edges :thumb2:

Cheers buddy, it'll be in this months news show :cheers2:

So last night i got the wheels and tracks part weathered and assembled on the tiger. Added some pigments to the underside and road wheels. Also added washes and pigments to the tracks. `The Friul metal tracks were first burnished with a burnishing fluid, the the same pigment used for the underside of the runing gear were pressed into the recesses of the tracks and the excess removed with a stiff brush, once dry i added a light coat of Ultimate Light Dirt wash to add tone and variation. Was up till 4am with the hangout yahoo's doing this

Made a start on the resin figure set tonight, only having three of the four figures in the tank. Nice quality figures they cleaned up and assembled nicely.Got some filling to do still then will start painting

I also removed some of the dust effect from the horizontal surfaces as i wanted 100% happy with it. Probably looks no different to you guys but it does to me

The Tiger looks very nice Paul
Good thing you have this build
It is perfect to copy the camo scheme and some details from for my build
The strange thing is that many of the part that you have used are on the same sprues that i have only the mantlet and rearplate are the standard parts instead of a command version
And the antenna's where not present in mine but i have a set for those
Did you use the kit antanna set or a after market kit for them

Got the jaguar figures sorted for my Wittman tiger. Used the coloured Eduard photo etch slide ranks medals etc to add detail to them. Happy with them bar the faces which could have turned out better, I'm not happy with their faces so may redo them tomorrow.

They look spectacular bud. You could take some of that wash off the faces, or you could try a few passes with some very light dry brushing of some mid tone skin colours to clean up some of it. The uniforms are superb and the crew looks amazing in the hatches.

Made a start on the Dio base, using a picture frame with some plywood glued to the back, then some cheap filler to sculpt the base how i wanted it
Image
Image

I scratch built a wooden water trough from matchsticks, and then stained it with oil paints.

Image

Image

Image

This is a rough mock up of what i want

Image

Once dry i primed in tamiya grey primer and then sprayed the mud and road in two tones of mr hobby paint. My fence posts were also glued in position, and stained with oil paints.
Image

I then added some watered down pva were i wanted grass and then using a mix of different static grass i sprinkled it over and blew away the excess.

That's looking awesome buddy. I'll be blowing that static grass all over your bench did your head in haha. Mess!.... Ahhh mess!
I freaking love that water trough. That's some clever sh!t.

So a bit more work done the the dio base and apart form painting the mule and adding some dust effects to the tiger to tie it to the base its basically nearly finished.

I used a few different, types colours and lengths of static grass, used watered down pva and added them in a random pattern
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Then i had to sort out the barb wire fence before sorting the longer grass. I used plus model barbed wire and damn this stuff use brutal, digging into my arms and hands when trying to put it in place
Image
Image

I added various longer lengths of grass to the fence posts around the trough and in random places, then i mixed a light brown sand colour using the tamiya dio effect paints and using a couple types of gravel grit added the road surface
Image
Image
Image
Image

I then added about 5 different tones of pigment to tie all the road together :cheers2:
Image
Image

The prebuilt trees where added as well as the trough which i added some vallejo water effects tinted slightly green.
Image
Image

And some fun with steve the mule
