Many thanks Andy, really nice comments, and Happy New Year to you and yours to.

So last instalment for today,

Building debris added to the large blob of brick coloured wall filler I applied behind each wall

Image

I shall add more debris once the filler have dried, then it will be coated with diluted PVA glue with some washing up liquid in it using a pipette, this should then hold it all in place ready for painting and staining as required.

Thanks Mikey, a bit more done this morning.

Building just loosely in place

Image

More wood and bricks added and coated in dilute PVA, still a bit to add along the wall base, this is not just after the buildings were damaged but about 2 years after so the area would have been tidied up quite a lot.

Image

Cellar doors and surround added to pavement, these made of balsa on a thin card base, handles made from thin wire twisted around a kebab stick

Thanks John, I do like doing the detailing I feel so many dio's are too clinical and it's all the bits and bobs laying about that makes it look right.

Beautifully crafted Geoff.....
You have a real eye for detail, the finishes you create are so "real" looking... those ruins and the colours used on the brick faces and rubble are just superb..
The road and pathways/pavements are created so easily yet so convincingly accurate....
Well done my friend, you create winners every time..
: : : .. All the best mate... :thumb1:

Many thanks Guys, so pleased you like my latest, I will be honest Andy the ruins brickwork came out a lot better than I imagined, as I build the wall using single brick and the filler squeezed out over the face and I removed a lot of it but once dried there was still quite a lot on there so I used a rotary brass brush on my minidrill which did a good job but left a blackish coating which I was really pleased with as it looks to me just as the the old smokey London brickwork would have been like.
The road and pavements still only have a basic base coat that now needs a lot of tones added the oil based washes and dry brushing.

No beers yet, war still on ;)

Colour tones added to pavement and cobbles using 3 slightly different colour to each, also moss added to roof and flat surfaces where birds would have roosted and left their deposits

Image

The cobbles will now be given light covering of very fine sand to be then brushed off leaving some in the gaps between each cobble, this will then be given a wash of dilute PVA and left to dry, the same will be done to the edges of the buildings to show dirt buildup.

Image

Tones added to the rice cobbles, fine sand will be added to this as well, before the dilute PVA and then an oil based wash

Fine sand brushed against walls and kerbs and into edges of slabs and cobbles, then flooded with dilute PVA and left to dry, then grass tufts fixed in place using CA glue, followed by an overall Artist's oils/white spirit wash

Image

Image

a couple of grass tufts added to give the neglected look

Image

This will now be left to dry before giving a dry-brushing

Thanks Nige, I'm getting to the bits I like doing now as it all starts to come together. I still need to get more figures and a couple of vehicles and the small area to the left of the pub still needs attention but waiting for a telephone box to arrive to add there.

All the base now dry-brushed, brought out the stone (rice) pathway nicely

Image

Paving and road cobbles dry-brushed, as was the wooden cellar doors which has shown the woodgrain nicely

Image

I can now start on the detailing, figures and vehicles now

That's fantastic! It's stuff like this that gives me loads of inspiration for modelling dioramas. Especially love the inclusion of details like the moss and grass tufts.

Thanks Hank pleased you like it and welcome to ISM.
I love doing the little details as i think it makes the dio come alive, I bought the grass tufts from Fields of Glory, they have a good range and I cut them in half as I needed a back edge to them to fit against the wall.

I'd totally forgotten about vehicles and figures... Not to mention the incidentals. This is perfection all by itself. Every nook and cranny has a little something to look at and the life elements have yet to appear.
Amazing work Geoff.

Barrier supports painted and rubbed over with fine wet and dry paper to show wear as was the pole, then fixed in position with the Danger sign

Image

Ropes attached to roof tarp and tied to support cross beam

Image

Pub name board printed out and dirtied up as were the beer signs and PVA'd in place.
This area now finished until figures are done, I can now concentrate on the small area to the left of the pub.
