A lot done now, it's almost finished in fact. At least the panther is. I still have to build the dio and paint the figures.

After the aqua gloss went on I washed it in a very thin wash of burnt umber oils. Then I went back and did a pin wash on a few areas with a denser mix of burnt umber.

Image

Image

Image

A wash of some burnt sienna and some rust coloured pigments to start on the exhaust.

Image

Image

Image

and some rust wash and pigments on the loose tracks.

Image

A flat coat and she was ready for the dot filter and rust effects.

Image

Image

Image

Some Ultimate concrete mixed with mud and a touch of dark dirt.... on a flat coat :jd: :jd:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then its rubbed off with a stiff brush and then again with cotton buds.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

A pigment/oil wash on the tracks.

Image

Then some of the concrete mix.

Image

Then I took an HB pencil to all the high contact areas. To imitate the bare metal.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I popped the tracks on.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I also started to base paint the figures.

Image

So next it will be dot filter and rust. Then more dry pigments.
I may call it done by then, but I've had a couple of ideas for a couple of little things.
We'll see.

Because it blew off when the 122mm soviet IS-2 round passed through the tank's engine compartment.

Ohh so that's the story fascinating didn't knew that it can blow parts off the tank I should read more books then lol

Blowing a panel off is the least that an anti-tank round can do. The Panther that I'm building is meant to be out of gas, so it didn't blow up or catch fire. But if it were fuelled up and got hit the story would be much mor difficult to model haha

More like building a jigsaw puzzle for a blind dyslexic fella. :eeek:   :

Not a lot done today unfortunately. I spent the day making videos and doing hobby maintenance. A lot of writing.
All I have to report is the rust work is on and done. Next is a matte coat and a yellow filter to try and brighten and blend some of the colours. Then a dot filter to offer more aging.

Thanks Paul, and no worries at all Nige.

So after the 2 hour build of the Metal Earth kits with the wankers on the hangout tonight I finished the dot filter and the yellow filter on the panther, then I built the majority of the base. Then I mocked up and marked the final positions of all of the figures and some of the loose elements.
I also added two more figures. :eeek:

The dot filter going on.

Image

Dot filter and the yellow filter.

Image

Filters completed. :)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Vignette design begins.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The wall going up. It's a piece of cork board with the air dry clay that Seb Schoof gave me :D I shaped the brick work with some clay sculpting tools and then I textured it with a green plastic scouring pad. The same pad that I use to do chipping on my models.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And the figures drilled out and placed in their final places. I photograph the snot out of them and add them hear so that I have a reference as to where I wanted them.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

So the next thing to do is to build up rubble piles next to the wall and then scatter some bits and pieces about the street. I also need to build some life debris that would be appropriate for the setting such as clothing, toilet seats, curtains, coat racks, paper, broken dishes, that sort of thing.
Then I have to prime and weather the vignette.
I also have to finish painting all of the figures.

HA!
Funny. ;)

Well... I had a nice quiet day of almost 10 uninterrupted hours at the bench.
I didn't waste it.

The first thing that I did wast prime the base in crap vallejo primer.
Then I added some base tones of brick red (Mig's Base Rust) and some grey to the cobbles (Vallejo medium grey)

Image

Image

Then I added some Vallejo sand to some of the cobbles to add variety. I also sprayed some of the rubble in a lightened colour of the original rust, as well as the curb, I added a bit of white to the grey and highlighted.

Image

Image

Image

Then I added some grass tufts, assorted rubberised horse hair to represent wires.

Image

Then a Ultimate concrete mix of colours when on the brick wall.

Image

and then removed with a damp brush and cotton bud

Image

Then I painted all the broken wood pieces scattered everywhere.

Image

Next I added a bit of green mildew coloured pigment to the bricks

Image

Image

Image

Then a bit of pigment to the bricks to vary their tones and pigment work added to the ground in sequence...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then I added some posters to the wall for some life interest.
Later I ground some earth coloured pigment into the posters to age them once the glue was dry.

Image

Image

Image

Then the panther was added and screwed to the base. I don't glue my vehicles to my bases in case I ever need to work on them I can remove them.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Lastly today I added a bit of pigment to the upper surfaces of the tank. To reflect dirt and mud tracked up there by the crew.

Image

Image

Image

That that's all she wrote for today. The figures are all that's left and any tiny details that I can think of.

That is quite intense Mike, and captures the harsh realities of war magnificently. It feels like I just viewed the opening D-Day landing scene from Saving Private Ryan, but only the Eastern front version! Awesome job with a very difficult story to tell!!!
