Storch Down

Well finally got some time in the cave, lots of prep and some work done to show you.










Only a few cobbles down and run out of side walk (paving) slabs. Got some more ca glue coming too.

To be fair very relaxing method as long as you got on with it.

My dad used to build HO trains and had a layout (huge train set that took over our garage completely). He hand cut every rail tie (those wood beams the rails lay on top of). Every. Single. One. Then he set about gluing down all of them to the lines he laid out...must've been a thousand or two tiny wood ties he hand crafted and stained. Each one held in place with glue, each one requiring two scale metal spikes to hold the rail down. I couldn't believe it, why take the time to do that?

Then I see this build and I'm reminded of how relaxed and in the zone he was...it must be like mental therapy.

To be honest some of my best and interesting work is all scratch built. I ask my self why so often, but the feeling I get when it works out far out weighs the effort.

As we have discussed in the past, modeling is very therapeutic. I've had many talks with my former psychologist about how modeling helps calm down PTSD patients like myself. It's amazing to think how something so frustrating at times can be so relaxing and fulfilling at the same time . I myself am most the time very relaxed and calm after spending a couple of hours at the bench. Now if I could only convince my health care provider that my modeling costs are in fact therapy related costs

and then back in the den this morning........







It's slow work but when in a flow goes down well, very happy with how it looks

Nice progress made on the street James. You must have been a road worker or bricklayer in a previous life.

Doing it this way is time consuming but will give the sweetest end result to your skill- and Patience levels

Symru, If I have seen correctly in previous photo's posted and that little bit of resin on the wood flooring tiles I think it might become a "storm"drain mate

Cymru I m still not sure, you mean the mis cut hole which now will be in the middle of the road may just have to be damage of some sort

So manged to get some in the den and get it on with this base of mine



Leaving the miss cut out for the drain seem like it will work out







So to show the difference in direction on the two streets I have denoted this with a small patern on the corner.



while sitting in the hangout with Paul, Tim, Ivan, Les, and all wanted to insure i got this done by the end of the night.







coming along now but in the need for more cobbles and get that pavement finished, luck i did that second tray up but had to cut the last pieces for the pavement as I run out.





So last night i could not go on, eyes were so tired and i just could dross the finish line

But today and twenty minutes and done ( getting in the swing with this now.

Thanks Lysus, it has been going now for such a long time, but the plan is to crack on. New compressor comes this week to replace the broken one. Then looking at repainting the building as just not happy with it. Then crack on with plane and figures.

Still loads to do.

Well put the house on the base to see how it fits and looks

Well playing around with the base, filled the caps in between the cobbles but made a bit of a mess of it allowing the filler to dry to much



Hoping to get this painted up this week and the house fitted.

No work so with luck, Mrs has her orders, meals and regular coffee to be supplied

Well with so much on the bench at the moment got some time to lay down some paint on the base yesterday





Now was the chance to use the Ultimate washes I have be dying to use.



Dark dirt on the pavement and a mix of concrete, sand and dark dirt on the street..... like the street more..



want to make use of the different tones and colour's now and may of gone mad, but the washes are so easy to play with





well that's it so far, still playing around as not sure it is right but happy with it so far. These washes on the building to match it in will help me alot i thinking
