Well that is different, never seen curved metal tiles. This should test your skills on weathering a metal roof. Looking forward to the end results.

The tiles are supposed to represent shaped tin tiles. Though I may add some paint to them for colour and have the tin colour poking through.
I used copper because it's soft and easy to shape, not for its colour.

I've added some of the window framing, though there won't be much in the way of glass in them. I've also added the first layer of the "stucco"

I think you're just taking the p*** here mate! Its not just the quality of the work on the Nashorn, its the imagination and the use of materials for the dio thats freaking me out.

Sublime skills, it makes me chuckle when I see what you do and how you do it.

Most of it is just stupid luck. I just decide that I want to see what I can make out if this piece of garbage or that piece of garbage. My skills pale in comparison to some others though.
Mostly I'm just a fat bored dude with too much time on his hands and a pile of crap in front of him.

I got my airbrush parts in from Martin at Air-craft.net and I'm back in business.
Started laying primer down on a few things.
Not much to look at, but I haven't been able to do much of late without the brush, so at this point I'll take what I can get.

Sometime today maybe I'll get some colours down on it and get the Nashorn, truck, and figs primed.

what can I say on this one ...nothing , I miss the words , Being honest I checked this thread with most attention today, spent some quality time seeing the progress of the build ...and again I'm amazed with what you have done here , every new build from you I'm amazed , I think already mention this in other builds , but your threads are better than any book that we can read about modelling techniques , truly an inspiration buddy !

Gosh I've been so busy doing non-scale model building these past two months that I missed this build until now. Those tiles are just too cool. Looks like it's going to be a little smaller diorama than we have gotten from you recently.

Every time I look at the shots of your house I remember building ours and the anticipation I had for finishing my cave.
It was intense!
I really can't wait to see wha yours turns out like... Then in a few years to see what it looks like.
They evolve you know...

The outside... The inside was just bare studs...

Then some drywall...

A whole lot of plaster, trim, and some paint ...

Some flooring...

Then the day after installing the drop ceiling I moved all the crap that I could find in and started to work. By then it had been almost four months since I'd layed hands on styrene and I was ready to eat it if I could.

And this is it tonight... Actually about ten minutes ago. A very busy and well loved room. Probably my most favourite place in the universe.

I added the first bits of base colours to the shed/house/barn thing this afternoon. It took longer than expected as I couldn't find colours that I liked for the brick.
I eventually just made some up and went with that.

The tiles are ammo light rust and the sheet metal is ammo gun metal.

Then some italeri flat white for the stucco, I used that because it's crap for self levelling and it's nice and thick. So when it dried after being stippled on in several layers it has a bit of texture.
I could have used acrylic household trim paint to do this as it does the same thing, but it's much thicker and I wouldn't have as much control.
It doesn't thin as well as the modelling material.
This is after two layers...

I will most likely add at least one more layer of the flat white and then I'll start in on painting all of the wood.

I think ya got me mixed up with Scott - he's building a new house in BC (and it a beautiful house he's building).

I, on the other hand am Troy (Scott and I both have silver cars as our profile pics - caused I copied him - cause we're "'Stang bros" -maybe the reason for confusion), I live in a trendy overpriced agenda 21 tiny apartment in Denver - having sold my epic man cave house last year - and the only house I am building, which I thought you were commenting on, is a foam board Russian house for my Russia with love build, which I did, in fact, copy from you and how you build them.

Its funny, I could have sworn that I posted about this bit earlier today.
I really must be losing it.

Not much to report... Just finished painting the base colour for the wood.
The stucco is done as well. The interior will get a liberal sooting to hopefully make it look like a fire had burned in the room at some point.
I can't tell ya how long that it took to paint the wood on this silly thing. Three coats and at least two of the Star Wars movies did me to get it done.
Once it's dry it will all get a gloss coat then I'll start the washes and weather/age the wood.

It may be a little while, I want to paint the vehicles but my airbrush is acting up again.
So I'm waiting for parts.
Until they get here I don't want to risk pooching another paint job with my other brush.

I don't think that there ever will be a day that I'll spend £200 or more on an airbrush.
There's just no justification for me to spend that much. The evo that I have now was pretty much the absolute most I'd ever consider spending... And that would be once in ten years I'd spend it too.
It cost me £90 on sale and I had a coupon. I think I'd top out at £100 if I really needed one in a few years, but my conscience would never allow me more than that.

Now that I've finished my Wittmann tiger I can get back to this wee thingy.
I just needed a little bit of tiger to get me through.

I'm still having trouble with my airbrush, but I'm hoping to be able to fix it soon.
It's either the air valve in the brush that's in need of replacing (doubtful) or I need a new compressor (problematic as I don't have the money for a new one and won't for a very long time).

It works like a plane with a busted wing, if I frig with it enough I can get where I'm going... it's extremely annoying and frustrating as hell, but I can paint... Sorta.

So I got some work done on the dio and I primed and base coated the two vehicles and the figures... That took all day.
And a lot of foul language.

It's not much different that any of the other dioramas that I've built, a bit of celluclay and a few rocks and all of the bricks that I cut stuck in it.
The cobblestone street is a piece of a place mat for a dinner table that I found in the trash a few years ago.
I thought that I'd give it a try to see how it did for a street.

I managed to do a few things this morning before anyone was even out of bed...
Base colours on, camo sprayed with difficulty, and surfaces prepped with gloss for decals.
And... thanks to the most Hoopy Frood Forbes Hutton... I found a compressor that was just inside my budget (after I pawned some junk on a neighbour )
I found a newer model of the TC-20T compressor that I have now (it's actually the name brand AS-186 this time instead of the TCP Global version of the machine). I originally bought a TC-20T compressor three years ago and it's done it's job fine until a couple of months ago when the motor decided the end was nigh. So, thinking that I was clever, I discovered that my local DIY chain sold cheap knock off motors that were identical in appearance to the motor on the TC-20T... it wasn't. Far from it.
I replaced the old motor and things were fine for about two months and then things started acting funny.
Either way... It's going in the bin and the new AS-186 will replace it in a few weeks.
Hopefully that will solve the problems.

It's funny... the AS-186 is the Name Brand (supposedly) of the TC-20T and I bought the AS-186 for $50 cheaper than the TC-20T almost three years ago.
Weird world we live in.

I'm not too fussed about the camo on this as it will be almost completely covered in white wash. So the pattern and the neatness isn't all that important. Good thing too, as I don't think that I could get it any better the way the airbrushes are acting.

Next is decals and details.
Then gloss and chipping then a white wash and more chipping.

My first (tankless) compressor came from them. They have about the only reasonable price around (others put a price of $200+ on that $134 compressor), and it's Expedited Canada Post, so hopefully you'll have it in 7-10 days. Hopefully you're airbrushing again soon, or you might do something mad like putting paint in your mouth and then spitting at the model.

Your issue with the compressor reminded me that I hadn't dried out the tank in months... about 100ml of rust coloured water came out of the drain hole, so we'll take the opportunity to perform a public service announcement: EVERYONE GO DRAIN YOUR COMPRESSOR TANK NOW!

Still a very long way to go yet.
The groundwork, once it's dry still needs texturing and painting yet, then veggies and mud.
A long way from done.

I got some decals on a day or so ago and I finished the detail painting on the nashorn as well.
I'll hit it with some aqua gloss today most likely then I'll start in on the chipping. I plan to beat the interior up a lot on this one. It's a winter scene during the height of the Russian push through the Ukraine and these vehicles got a huge amount of use and wear and tear.

I just finished reading a part in the book that I'm using for this build that almost exactly describes the scene that I'm depicting.
I had no idea that it was in the book. I love happy accidents.
Though I'm still not completely sure what the vehicle number of Schiebel's Nashorn was, I'm hoping it was 303... it was hinted at in a bit that I just read. It's too late now anyway.

Amazing builds coen, what psi is your airbrush set too? I really like the softness of your spray. Especially on the red brown color.

To be honest, it's more a factor of a wonky compressor than an intentional setting.
I'm not completely sure what the PSI was, the gauge said 18psi, that's what I always spray AMMO at, but the thing has been acting funny and it seemed to be spraying weaker than that.
My new compressor is due to be delivered today, if you can believe it Considering that I just ordered it on Monday and it was free shipping.
If it's in one piece and as advertised, the seller is getting a glowing review from me.

In other news...
Yesterday was a bit of a wash for getting much done.
Too much work to do about the house and a birthday dinner for me Ma.
I did manage to get a gloss coat on everything but the figures and a mock up done to check placement and fits.

So far, so good. I'm not completely sold on the position of the truck yet and I may add a couple of more figures off loading ammo.
We'll see.

I'll have a bit more time today I think, so some of the chipping may get started or the figures might get base painted.

I was left alone for a few hours today for a change and I spent every second at the bench.
I got the gloss coats on the truck and Nashorn, chipping on the Nashorn done, the white wash camo on the Nashorn, and the white wash sealed in with a gloss. I also started the chipping and washes on the truck, but I haven't taken pictures of it yet.

Next I'll do a dark dirt wash on the interior and select areas on the exterior of the Nashorn.

Chipping with Vallejo model colour 70822 German cam black brown. (My go to chip colour)

The white wash with Ultimate winter wash...
