I have trouble finishing anything let alone this many builds at once. I completely see why you have broke it down the way you have.

The cockpits and engines are just excellent......: : : :

Thank you all so much, i have been working at them i promise.

updates so far.....

pre shaded the underside of the F6 with different shades of brown

Image

And painted leading edges with green ready for some post scratching with Ak worn effects

Image

and after painting the F6 and then applying highlights i went and brushed of the paint in the high wear areas.
Image

Image

Image

then i went ahead and painted the avenger

Image

I'm now in the process of decaling... whilst putting off the PE dive brakes for the dauntless lol

so after having a long think, i'm pulling the plug on this project as my Gb. mods please can you move this thread to normal builds section.

my reasoning for this is its about the modeling for me, i enjoy building and painting and i never have a set proceedure i just sit there and play around with things and to be honest i dont enjoy sitting trying to write up description post when ive realistically just muddled the model to where its at. I read briefly about the subject, but in truth i go on the artwork scheme wether the subject has a amazing past doesnt bother me. so in reality Im not really being what a GB participant needs to be.

hope that makes sense

I for one have thoroughly enjoyed following your builds in this GB, they are truly awesome :th: :th: :thumb2:...but at the end of the day this should be fun! I am still looking forward to seeing more of these builds, either here in this GB or in the regular build section :)

so, just to prove i havnt completely given up on the kits, heres a eduard us carrier deck that arrived in the post today. looks really nice, ive gotto look online and try to find some colour pics of the deck to recreate a realistic look with the wood and lift with lines etc.

im pretty much close to being finished on these 2 kits with just the landing gear to finish and weather. ive some resin exhuasts to fit on the avenger, and then ariel wire etc wrap that one up. anyhows heres a few pics on the arrangement im thinking of keeping.

Thanks man,
lol, the cat is the Hellcat, but i think you meant the corsair and the duantless which are still ongoing. the dauntless has me stumped at the moment as ive got to do all the dive brakes. I really need to get these two completed to give me back my modelling space lol :cheers2:

Loving the paintwork on both of these. Gorgeous weathering on the Hellcat but the sceme and paintwork on the Avenger is really special.

Let us know how you get on with the deck. I got hold of an Eduard one just recently for a future project.

Beautiful builds, Alan.

Thanks James, and im happy to report a significant step.....

Whooooohoooooow ive just completed the dive brakes on the duantless! A small step for mankind but a mighty leap for Alan ! this has scared me for months, ive never done PE on this scale before, in fact apart from eduard zoom sets this is a first real play with PE. i had the vice out and my daughters school protactor set but its come out good i feel...
Image
Tbh i think steel is a lot harder than the regular brass sets

Thanks for looking

Thanks guys. I'm very happy to report I'm almost there now. As promised I've done step by step on the base. First I mixed a bit of Ultimate primer 50/50 white and black to make a grey which I then used Ultimate thine to make it blitz through the airbrush sweetly. After priming the base I used tamiya deck tan to mist over the woodwork, then a bit of tamiya red brown in patches to create a base to look like this
Image
Then after that I masked and sprayed ak extreme burnt metal on the metal strip tie down / drains. Following that I masked and sprayed the edge off the lift area with deck tan
Image

Then I sprayed the white lines in, bit of a artistic make believe.
Image
After this it was covered in dark dirt wash from flory like this
Image
And wiped off to leave staining in between the gaps like this
Image
So that's the base all done. Next post will be of a few subjects on it..

Spectacular is the exact word I'd use. It's stunning, man, 100% awesome.

I think I need a Hellcat, Dauntless, and Corsair or three in my life based upon your builds, they look mean.

Thank you mate, by all means please do give it a try its quite boring but the end result makes the planes just seem natural, like no more a model but a scene.
