Well according to my Excel spreadsheet I have 352 kits with 3 more in the mail. I swore last month I was going to stop, so I did (so far). Now I am buying after-market stuff and diorama supplies. My postman told me he likes being able to get out of his truck and drop off the packages at the door. Only exercise he gets all day.

I keep them in a closet and on shelves in the hobby room. A lot of them are figure kits that don't take a lot of room. I try to store the PE and after-market items in with the kit they were purchased for. Forty two of the kits I won as door prizes at shows over the years.

I know I won't finish them all but I am going to have fun trying.

27, I've only completed 13 since starting the hobby last February. So my guess of buying two kits for everyone finished is about right.

I might have a problem.

44. I set myself a limit of how many I can get on top of the two store cupboards in my man cave and at the moment it's 44. Although if I see a bargain I have extra 'bargain' emergency storage...

I've given away every kit I've built but I'm going to start keeping them now and have a display cab for that purpose.

I have a similar rule: no room, no purchases.

It's entirely possible that in addition to just being completely swamped the last few weeks the main reason I've not gotten any modeling done is that I've gone and gotten new shelves for the office/hobby space to accommodate the stash...as in I needed room for expansion.

Entirely possible...

I did a loose count of mine yesterday and I'm well over 200. Genuine, no BS. :wtf:

*edit. Looking at some pics I took yesterday and counting the ones in the spare room alone, there are at least 240-250 in there. I've loads more stashed in the modelling room, both under the table and in a wardrobe. I'm guessing 350 at least, now. I must be bonkers!! :bash:

Maybe there is a market for subscription services ... Like "Get FOUR kits for just €0.9 (+p&p), then you get FOUR NEW kits EVERY MONTH! [with a small note stating: 'Kits cost €49 each+p&p €4.9+service fee €2.9. Subscription auto-renewed every year if not cancelled within 3 months prior to end of year'. Additional terms and conditions may apply".

I've set myself a rule of no more kits this year (which incredibly 6 weeks in I've kept to so far...). The 44 I had in the stash in my last post is now 48, four have used up the emergency 'bargain buy' storage. Mind you I still look at Creative's website at 2pm every Thursday for their weekly offers. 'Cos 2pm on Thursday is when they come out...but I've been a good boy so far.

I also told myself no new kits (outside of GBs for the year). So far I'm doing an excellent job.

See I'm using federal budgetary standards where my "year" is a rolling period over two years. In addition, I'm measuring "kits" as tied to tax law, that is any kits I buy now are offset by future kits I won't buy.

They pay for themselves!

I now have 2 kits in the stash: DML's 1-35 Panther G w/Steel Wheels Smartkit and Revell's 1-48 B-25 Mitchell

I didn't pay a single thing for either. Both gifts. When you are a listless teenager, you don't have very much money to spend on kits for the stash
There is always time for modeling.

Currently thirty-odd, mostly 1/48 aircraft with a few odd scales and armour/vehicles received as gifts. At current build rate, that should keep me going for a decade or so. Not really buying that many recently, although Airfix are really testing my resolve with the likes of the new Meteor, Walrus, and even the new P-51. I mean, you've got to have an informed opinion on whether it's better than Tamiya's, haven't you?
In my defence, most of what's lurking under the office desk (and in/on top of the wardrobe, and in various other nooks) have been ebay purchases made by the "I'll bid £x.yy and then have a look later and see if I've snagged a bargain" method which ensures some real bargains - and some proper random purchases as well. Which explains the two(!) Polikarpov Po-2s I have.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

On the bench - Revell 1/48 Ventura II.

Yes, the 'build from the stash' rule has somehow passed me over as well
I have enough trouble with a no new kit purchases
