Hmm, how bout:

-I like the idea of a captured build as some have already suggested, anything military as long as it's bearing the markings of its original enemies. Plus I already have a subject lined up :)

-Add another vote for post-apocalypse, it's a really cool idea and makes room for a lot of weird and unusual builds.

-And yet another for the shelf of doom idea, I think it was a GB a couple of years ago but like everyone else it'd be good to actually have a reason to finish the myriad of kits I've started.

-Screen to Scale. An idea that came up for this year's GBs/SIGs but didn't make it, basically just anything represented in a movie, TV show or game replicated in scale. I'm sure everyone's got some idea.

-As an extension/modification of the above, perhaps replicating a scene from a historical photo?

-And finally something I personally really wanna do, a kit bashing/scratch building GB. Any subject so long as it involves a good amount of modifying or combining kits or adding bits on. Scratch build a figure? Convert a vehicle? Combine two kits into a thing of beauty or a monstrosity? Anything goes really. With the popularity of the shiny things GB I thought it'd be nice to have more GBs/SIGs based more around techniques than subjects. That way it's both more open to people with different areas of interest and yet still allows for some pushing of the comfort zone.

Here's an idea I've been planning to do:

- Greyscale WWI or WWII diorama
- Greyscale WWI or WWII vehicle
- Greyscale WWI or WWII figure(s)

Also interested in a WW1 armor GB :th:

Post Apocalyptic would be great for me, as would something film related that has been mentioned a few times above.

Other ideas to to throw in:

Wargames - Anything from a video game, real or fictional, kit or scratch build, figures, etc.

Winter is Coming - Not Game of Thrones, but the subject must be designed, modified, painted or used in a winter setting. E.g. a plane / tank in winter cammo, figures in winter kit, a dio with snow/ice, etc.

Sci-Fi - I've seen ideas for Gundam, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc. Could we get more participation by having a wider remit under something like sci-fi? Might have more broad appeal and encourage participation.

New to the Hobby - Build anything but you need to do it by coaching / helping someone new to the hobby. For instance parent / child build or work with a friend that fancies a go. Help get new blood in.

I've been toying with the idea of making Summer Sci-fi an annual thing, but if it shows up as an official GB this year I wouldn't complain (Summer Sci-fi was exactly as you described; any and all sci-fi qualified).

I like the winter one, too.

I'm really hoping the winners fall into what's already in my stash, because I'm totes not buying kits anymore.

Would really like a real space sig of some sort. I mentioned rockets before but something a bit broader in genre may be better hence the idea of Real Space which could be any real world space craft, figure or vehicle related you the space program.

Just a thought, plus it means I can use some if my recent purchases!

Star Wars - because Star Wars

WW1 - Planes, arty and tanks; could be more specific as required.

Kit Cap - cap money spent on kit/extras.

Night Fighters - Night fighters from any era. Only needs to be a designated night fighter, so like P-61's and the like.

Air racer - Models of air race aircraft, can be from any class.

Props of the Jet Age - prop driven aircraft that have been in military usage starting around Vietnam so A-1 Skyraiders, OV-10's, T-6 Texan II's, etc.

No Flying for YOU! - SAM's and AAA models, any era.

Never leave empty handed - A kit you bought that was on sale when you only went to the hobby store for paint.

Have had a wander through all the suggestions and like the idea of the following (in no particular order):

Tank Busters
North Africa (WW 2)
Space Exploration
Sci-fi (or Star Wars specifically)
Wheeled AFVs
Winter is Coming

I like the idea of the Racing group but that would mean buying something new for the stash

I think someone also mentioned something along the line of trucks and jeeps, but maybe expand that to any support vehicle/transport even if it's tracked (kettenkrad, bren carrier)

Was also thinking maybe an ongoing "New Joiners" GB for anyone who's recently joined the forum but feeling a bit shy about leaping into one of the more populated areas.

I'd like to see this, I suggested maybe rolling it into racers as "racers and demonstrators" so it could be cars and planes that are for fun stuff.

In fact, what if it were something like an AFV versus Gundam? Like build either one in the same GB, and best out of the three winners "wins" the GB.

Some great ideas so far. If I may put forward an idea, a GB called The Tooth Be Told or The Tooth Of The Matter. It would be for anything with a mouth painted on. IE a sharks mouth, boar tusks, any teeth added to a vehicle. That's my tooth cents worth.

Cheers

"Thunder and Lightning" GB. It would be open to all aircraft that incorporate either "thunder" or "lightning" in their name. Would cover quite a large range of aircraft that would suit a lot of peoples tastes and scale preference.

Yes Sorry badly stated i guess, sometimes even hard for me to explain what goes on it my own mind.... :bash:

What i mean by this is make a diorama using materials that are not a kit. So for example making a building from scratch, a workshop. Maybe only using figures to help tell the story with in a scene. A diorama with most of it being made from just basic materials.

Maybe the idea needs a lot more work guys, sorry (going back to the corner!!!!)

Believe it or not, I came up with this exact idea for a SiG/GB in the 2015 vote. It was called Warsome Weather (Warsome Weather - Any model with a type of weather in it's name ie Lightning/Wirbelwind/Snow Cat (inc civilian) you get the idea!), but it didn't get enough votes :(

Ok i have seen some great suggestions and what's even better is some of my ideas i have thought of during the year have come up.
So i will list what i thought of and what other good ideas i have seen come up

Racing Build. If it's Raced Build It

Navy Carrier Planes

Tank Hunters. Any thing that was used too destroy tanks. Planes, spg, Artillery and tanks designed for tank on tank

Captured vehicles. Planes or tanks captured then used against the original owner

Middle east war. Any thing used in a war from 1950 to present day that fought in a middle east war

Rockets and missiles. So from the V2 (new takom kit coming out) to the US patriot system

Figures. Full body to busts

100 years of the tank. Really simple build a tank

Night Fighters

Destroyed derelict vehicles and planes

Big scale kits. So 1/32 planes and 1/16 tanks 1/12 cars

Thats enough from me :th: :cheers2:

How about a Battle Of The Brands? First we pick some countries, say Britain, US, Germany and Russia. Then from each country certain classes of vehicle, eg: 1 heavy tank, 1 medium and 1 light tank. Then points, heavy tank=5 points, medium=3 points, light=1 point. So, if you built a Tamiya Sherman tank that would be 3 points to Tamiya.

At the end completed works get their points awarded and the total is calculated for each brand.

Just an idea, don't know if it would work, or who would make the decisions and award the points etc (defo not me). You'd need a high amount of entries to make it interesting.

EDIT: I keep thinking of more and more problems, just ignore me!

so many great ideas

I would be up for a racing sig

also how about a "off the screen" similar to Gills GB he has going at the moment over at Styrene Syndicate
any vehicle plane object that was a main feature of a movie, tv series etc.

example Sherman tank from Fury - Eleanor from gone in 60 sec - Eagle transport from space 1999 - Turino from Eastwood movie Gran Turino
could go on and on. you could cover sci-fi to planes and armour

Bike (2 wheels) Sig would be cool also racing or road

Gone in 60sec SIG - any car off the list of 50
