Never seen this before, almost like the paint under the decal has misbehaved after the decal was applied.
I don't think it's the paint. The decal wrinkled after first application of setting solution as expected, and they never went away.

OK so most of the main decals are now done. Some wrinkled worse than others but I think they'll be fine after a flat coat. I applied these without glossing first, I wonder if that has contributed at all.
I have another problem though... How to photograph this thing!!

I remember having problems with Academy decals on a build from a couple of years ago and vowed never to use them again.
Some were so thick they wouldn't conform unless soaked in strong solution (several applications) and although I don't remember any major wrinkling they weren't at all consistent so I may have just blanked it from memory.
Great to see you getting towards the end of this one though Rob - she's looking great regardless of the decal problems

Yes these do seem very thick! Like laying vinyl
The landing gear, doors, pylons, missiles and fuel tanks haven't even been primed yet so still a bit of work to do, but at least it looks better on my shelf, despite sitting on it's belly.

Time for a bit of work on this - I'm motivated to get it finished.
Today I finally painted the landing gear doors, which I'll attach shortly. It's not much, but it's enough to get me going again.

Wow - I genuinely did a double-take when I realised it was 2019 that we were last watching this one - I would have sworn it was only last year.
Nice to see you've gone back to it and looking forward to seeing how you get it finished off now Rob
