Using these spoons to test out weathering / panel fading on the different camo areas.

That's a great idea using spoons as test areas. I usually dive in straight onto the model and then spend ages altering it all because it doesn't look right. Might pinch your idea if that's ok!

No problems at all.

Made sure i wrote on each spoon as i tested out the various colours noting what psi and thinner mix i used. The paints used where all by tamiya acrylic paints.

Test spoons using a mixture of the base colour plus j.n gray and medium grey both sprayed at 20 psion to two different spoons (the first two on the left of the picture). Then added 70-80% more thinner and sprayed the same two colours this time reducing the psi to between 7-10 psi ( the two sppons on the rigth hand side of the picture)

This time added a bit of yellow to the base colour and as before sprayed the first spoon (on the rigth of the picture) at 20 psi and the second one (on the left of the picture) 70% thinner and sprayed at 7-10 psi.

Testing out on the dark green areas of the spoons next.
This time added sky grey to the dark green mix (the bottom two spoons) again sorayed at 20 psi. The top spoon was sky gray 70% thinner and sparayed at 7-10psi.

Same again this time the bottom two spoons are dark green plus yellow sprayed at 20 psi. The top spoon is dark green plus yellow 705 thinner and sprayed at 7-10psi.

Working on the brown area now the bottom spoons are Khaki drab mixed with yellow. The top one is Khaki drab mixed with white. Both sprayed at 20 psi

Counting from the top down . The first and third spoons are Khaki drab mixed with medium gray , 70% thinner and sprayed at 7-10 psi. The second and fourth spoons are Khaki brown mixed with medium gray sprayed at 20 psi

The A-10 Thunderbolt is also known as the Warthog, the ‘flying gun’ and the Tankbuster. The aircraft was used extensively during Operation Desert Storm, in support of Nato operations in response to the Kosovo crisis, in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The A-10 is a high-survivability and versatile aircraft, popular with pilots for the ‘get home’ effectiveness.
The mission of the aircraft is ground attack against tanks, armoured vehicles and installations, and close air support of ground forces.
The A-10 is suitable for operation from forward air bases, with short take-off and landing capability. The aircraft has a long range (800 miles), high endurance and can loiter in the battle area.
The manoeuvrability at low speed and low altitude (below 1,000ft) allows accurate and effective targeting and weapon delivery over all types of terrain
The aircraft has 11 stores pylons, providing an external load capacity of 7,260kg. There are three pylons under the fuselage and the loads can be configured to use either the centre-line pylon or the two flanking fuselage pylons.
Using the cannon, the A-10 is capable of disabling a main battle tank from a range of over 6,500m. The cannon can fire a range of ammunition, including armour-piercing incendiary rounds (API) weighing up to 0.75kg, or uranium-depleted 0.43kg API rounds.
The magazine can hold 1,350 rounds of ammunition. The pilot can select a firing rate of 2,100 or 4,200 rounds a minute.

Bottom of the tail section.

This was done by using the base colour and then adding ether yellow or medium gray. Thinned as normal with tamiya x-20a and sprayed at 20 psi. Very carefully drawing lines along the area very ligthly trying to create some subtle effects.

The dark green again mixed in yellow with it and repeated the above.

Next up will be adding the sky gray to the dark green and the colour fading on the Khaki drab with.

Nice work there. Adding some tints and tones really starts to give the model some depth!

Seat was painted in Tamiya sky grey, Vallejo brown violet and panzer aces canvas.




Gloss coat was a winsor and newton gloss coat mixed 50-50 with Ultimate thinner .

To do the black edging i simple used a black sharpie marker and carefully went around the edges .
