shortCummins wrote: Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:28 pm a couple of idea's I mentioned for previous years...

nose art/shark mouth - I know that it would be primarily aircraft but I have seen tanks with painted teeth
dogfight doubles - Spitfire vs bf109, Phantom vs Mig, Tiger vs Sherman or Ferrari vs McLaren etc.
D for Delta - any delta wing aircraft
rally cars
I like the nose art idea. Has nothing to do with the fact that I picked up the Airfix P-40 yesterday....

One more from me - we've seen ideas for "not your usual" but how about "The One you really want to build" - I don't know about the rest of you but I've got a couple of kits in the stash that I really want to crack out and build but never seem to get to for some reason or other.

The Unicorn build - THE kit you put at the top of your to do list, what better time to dust it off and get it built?

I think a wheeled vehicle build would be cool, i know car biilding isn't really popular on here but i think it would be cool to get both military and car builders together, maybe for a sig if not a official ism build.

theres seems to be a suggestion that GBs/SiGs are being overlooked by the consumer so I thought I'd put the numbers in; this is builds/ posts not gossip or reveals...

WW1 29/1000
Cold War 26/607
Bombers (sig)55/2510 (2000 of them were Twokids telling us to be quiet and go to sleep... no sorry, to get on with it)
1/72-76 21/449
cars etc 50/1226

I think it will be a sad day when FB takes over and GB's and Sigs stop

Agree!

Also, we should have an F-4 Phantom build. You can build US Navy, Marines or Air Force; British Navy or Air Force; Australia; Turkey; Greece; Japan; Germany; Iran; Israel; Egypt; South Korea; or Spain!

How about a Mad Max / Post Apocalyptic build. You can build any subject you like as long as it look's like it's made up from spare parts and is really beat up. Gives great scope for all the sci-fi guys, plus all the scratch builders out there.

Plus, any mistakes can be written off as damage!!  :th:

Couple ideas,
- Something with a mouth on the front? Covers a range of different vehicle types (Planes, tanks, boats, cars etc)
- Aircraft nose art build
- Brand build, (eg. Airfix, Hasegawa etc) build anything from that particular manufacturer

Ok, so read through the thread...

I'm digging the Black and White idea. Like, a LOT.

Also, F1. Pleeease.... Have one in the stash and I really would love to have a go at it.

As for a sci-fi, if they don't get one on the books, I can defo do one again since I doubt I'll be moving the whole family two summers in a row. 'Course I'd need to earn back some good will from the masses and get the last prizes sent out first.

Not sure what your picture is implying there.

Anyway if someone wants to count up the 5 most popular suggested gbs I’ll start a poll.

I've had a look back through the thread and I think the top five most popular in no particular order are:

Top Four
  • Sci Fi
  • F1
  • Shades of Grey (Black & White)
  • Anything but your usual
Fifth one could be a couple but I think probably
  • Wheeled Vehicles
If someone else could double check and correct anything I got wrong that'd be great (especially that last one!) :cheers2:

Paul wrote: Thu Dec 20, 2018 10:28 am Anyway if someone wants to count up the 5 most popular suggested gbs I’ll start a poll.

Cheers Neil, thanks for the help

Might want to consider adding one category featuring tanks + planes (the red meat, so to speak). Something with a theme along the lines of "Fighting Felines" etc. That was pretty popular and was open to a wide range of subjects.

Just a thought.

I mean, I'll try any subject once, but a lot of folks love their armor or aircraft, wouldn't want them to see slim pickin's this year.

Yep you're right - so how about we make number 5 "Desert Theatre" since that had a couple of mentions too.

Anything (Armour/Aircraft etc) that's either in desert camo or took part in a desert theatre operation from any era.

I think I also suggested expanding F1 to be any open wheeler so the Indycar guys can play too.
Cheers, Neil

I agree on the F1, like anything to do with wheeled racing is good enough for me.
