Didn't want it too rubbed off as I'm going for a more newley pressed into service tank as most T-34's didn't last long enough in combat to get super grimey

Heres a tip After putting on your undercoat and base coat of red lead say your next color would be the top color base coat add chipping medium to this paint at a ratio of about 5% chipping medium to 95% paint as an average. You can add more or a minimum of say 3% or up to 10% depending on how much you want to remove after its dry. I tend to use this way of application more and more as you only have to wait for one coat to dry not two coat,s.

Update.

Today I finally went to town and got some mineral spirits so I can use my new MiG washes.

I started out by lining all the deep lines that would gather dirt with a dark brown wash, letting the capillary action run it all the way down the cracks

After that, I used Migs Afrika Corps wash and some mineral spirits mixed it to thin it even more to go over all the angles of the tank, dirtying up the white so it is not longer so vibrantly white.

Next will be a spray of matte varnish and then weathering powders. After that I will paint and weather the wheels and tracks.

Thats an impressive build - making my fingers twitch to get back into Soviet armour and vehicles......

If anyone is interested I have a copy of the 1940's Soviet instructions on winterising vehicles - "Instructions for painting of the material and equipment in camouflage colors. Winter and summer 1940".
Or if you prefer: "Instruktsia Po Maskiruyuschim Okraskam Materialnoy Chasti V Letnikh I Zimnikh Usloviakh 1940"
At 4040 Kb its too big to attach to a post apparently but if anyone wants it drop a PM through and we'll see if it can be sent that way. Google Translate is a necessity unless you are fluent in reading Russian.

I had a look at the PM system - there seems no way of sending attachments via it so if you want to PM me your email address through I'll send it that way. Make sure your inbox is relatively empty as the transmission size registers at 3.9 Mb and most mail services have a 10 Mb limit on their inboxes...

Love the reference! (Read the book, never seen the show) and yes I will be weathering it, but still not sure how heavily, I love lots of mud but I don't want to go over board with it

Update.

Waited 24 hours for the Badger Stynylrez primer to dry.
Then painted the road wheels in Migs 4BO Russian Green. I just got this stuff and I like it much more color wise than Vallejos Model Air Russian Green.

Then painted the tracks Vallejo Model Airs Burnt Umber to have a fairly dark rustish base coat for when I weather and mud up the tracks

Did this while watching one of my favorite films

I probably won't be upgrading. I live in the middle of nowhere and can't get home internet. So it's already a pain dragging this Xbox all across hells creation to update it at someone's house who has home internet

Outlaw Josey Wales - love it when he spits tobacco on the dog! Fun trivia for ya, Clint is one of the few actors who is known for not blinking when he fires a gun. Most actors involuntarily blink when they fire on set weapons with blanks. Clint's just too hard to blink!

That is fun trivia....not sure if I'll ever need it, but it is interesting. Wondered once or twice if he just super glued them that way...

One of my all favorites is Clint and he's amazing as a director/producer. Gran Torino was excellent. I like the way he tackles issues.

I do always find it humorous when an actor blinks when shooting, especially when they are supposed to be playing a complete hard case.

A very good result, well done. I like the whitewash especially since that was your first attempt. Hope mine will turn out as well when I give it a go. Did you have any trouble fitting the tracks ?

I would say it came out better than I expected haha. And actually yes, in the struggle to put the rubber tracks on I split the upper and lower Hull and had to glue them back together better
