Hi all

Real quick update, as believe it or not, I have not finished the Stairs, Hall and Landing at home. Not even close. I'll be honest, its really worn me thin. Its a typical "Oh lets decorate this", or "Lets change this or that", and it turns into a massive project.
I cannot believe how much work (and Mrs DW), have had to do daily, just to get the damn paint off the walls, that seems to have been causing some weird Chemical decorating problem  .
I have done many projects / house renovations and decorating, but this one is killing me (truly, killing me). I think its my age :
The beautiful weather we had over the Bank Holiday weekend, escaped me, truly escaped me, as I was ensconced in the House, stripped to the waist, with a Sander in one hand, sanding ceiling and walls.
We had the Front Door open, and the windows open on the Top Stairs, and the funnel of air that shot down the stairs and out of the front door was tremendous for shifting dust and debris.
My only venture into M/C was yesterday (Monday), for a few hours.
Wee bit more work on Turret, i.e. IR Searchlight Base and some PE additions.
Image
Image
Started again, to work on the 2nd set of Tracks (B54, you can see marked in tub, is in fact the Turret main IR Searchlight, yet to be fixed to its shelf).
Image
But, did install the Metal Turned Barrel into the Mantlet. It had no locating lug, or anything to give it position. I glued it in with a fair amount of 2-Part Epoxy. Then held it in position, and used eye to get level and true position :eeek:
Image
Thats your lots for now, hope you are all safe and well and families staying safe.
Love and Peace,
DW

Great to see you managed to get some time at the bench DW - that turret is coming along nicely :th:

I feel for you trying to get that paint stripped in this weather though, that's no fun at all and just sweltering - make sure you stay hydrated!

Oh... and I take it you're not planning on painting the T62 a fetching shade of primrose :)
Cheers, Neil

After moving house and being in it for about 6 months my ex says: "can you just re-paint this kitchen door white? It's awful"
and to be fair, she was right; it was. It was a shade of... well, there's no other way to describe it - turd brown. So me being me, said 'yeah, sure I'll do it this weekend' - thinking that was that.
4 months and about £5k later we had a completely new kitchen which was full of 'just jobs' (as in - can you just replace the doors on these units? can you just lay a new floor? can you just build and decorate an entirely new kitchen...? etc)
So I know exactly where you're coming from.

Good work on the T-62 - it's coming along.

If I never see Primrose Yellow again in all of my short / long life, .......... :bash:
I hate that colour now with a passion.
Your right about heat, ambient and two Wallpaper Strippers is making me wilt.
Thanks for looking in,

I do enjoy the end result, but the Other 1/2 has dropped the Primrose Ball this time.

Like the pe it just jazzes the turrent up enough.
Feel the renovators pain.... I just finished painting the whole house inside and out about 5yrs ago and the SWMBO says the white enamel is yellowing. Damn thing looked alright to me and can you repaint 6 doors and 4 door jams. Knowing this was the thin edge of the wedge I resisted valiantly for 6 months, but she knows given long enough I'll cave....just to get some peace. So yep did those and I knew it was coming... The new paint doesn't match the older paint....2 more doors another 4 door jams. Just waiting for the next installment. Those who know me know I don't like PAINTING.

I seem to be raking up some very raw wounds with the decorating malarkey in Chez DW :eeek:
Blimey Digger!, even you seem to have had the proverbial faeces end of branch as well :eeek:
My apologies to all who have commented during this build, and relayed tales of their decorating woes and it does seem to be a common trait, that we hate it, but somehow get roped in to all manner of pain when it comes to slapping some paint on things other than plastic.
I did get home yesterday, after a very long, hot and dangerous commute.
Their are a lot of "Newbie" cyclists on UK roads at present.
Some, I suspect, have not cycled for years, possibly since school age, judging by red-faces under new cycling helmets, and wobbling gait whilst puffing and panting along hot Tarmac.
I used to cycle for 30 years in London and Midlands, up to 30 miles a day commuting. So not against cyclists. Just have to be very careful at present, on mildly quiet UK roads, with oodles of Cyclists taking advantage of quiet roads and warm weather.
Also,
Image
Cows!
Its a common sight between Uttoxeter and Stafford on my commute, at a place locally labelled "S%!t Corner".
It sits in a dip of the road and on a long sweeping bend. Being permanently covered in a layer of Cow excrement, which can be rather slippery.
Lots of signs warning Motorcyclists to be aware of hazard.
Being a lovely day, I was tailed on my way home by 6 high powered Motorbikes, who bypassed me and whizzed off into the distance.
Hope they knew of "S&*t Corner" :jd:
Having got home from work, and changed into shorts and T-Shirt, I found Mrs DW slumbering on her Lime Green "Huge" Bean Bag  in Garden.
She had, after 3 hours more, of scraping that awful paint off Hall walls with Wallpaper Stripper, done herself in. Even with the Front Door open, whilst working away, it had not made a blind bit of difference in dropping temperature in Hall (Sun hits front of house all day).
I therefore, couldn't be aggrieved by Mrs DW being pooped :th:
I had though, had a delivery from the brilliant chaps and chapess at www.emodels.co.uk
1. Some replacement Flex-i-File assorted strips.
+
2. This rather new kit and an oddity from the norm I feel,
Image
(again, I seem to apologise about my footwear and tummy creeping into view (not difficult at my age and size for Gut to be in view  )
I saw it advertised and found myself drawn to its odd lines and shape. It comes with a full interior, plus engine detail. If you look at picture you'll see little pots of wheels for T62 ready to be painted.
Same wheels on this new kit?
I have, it seems, been pulled into the "Russian AFV dimension". Yeah! I get its South Lebanese AFV, but its really Russian isn't it?
Modelling?
Toooooooooooooooo damn Hot in Man-Cave yesterday afternoon, to even contemplate sitting down and continuing to sand individual Track Links for the T62.
As Mrs DW is storing said Lime Green Bag in my Man-Cave, she did mention about getting some External Blinds for windows. Sounds like a plan :th:
So, apologies for no real progress images, but in my defence a cold bottle of beer and sitting in Sun took over :
Stay safe peeps and hope you and families are well?
Love and Peace,
DW

Having read all the tales of decorating woe I have come to realize that being me actually has some advantage!!
Been married 37 years and only ever been asked to decorate once!! Yep - you read that correctly folks - ONCE!!
House we used to live in had a brick built pantry in the kitchen. 6 weeks after getting married she "asked" me to demolish this so she could redesign the kitchen. Couple of phone calls to friends and 2 hours of drilling and I was ready. Wife was less than impressed - till I hit the clacker. Then she was even less impressed.....
Firstly I forgot the effects of propagation through the entire block...
Secondly one wall fell on the floor- BUT - the other wall bounced off an internal wall taking a large chunk of plaster with it.
Never been asked to decorate since...

Nooo - wasn't too much fun afterwards - 3 set of neighbours absolutely pee'd at me for nearly giving them heart attacks. Wife pee'd at me because the wall now needed replastering adding to the bill. Oh - and did I mention the dust cloud that took two days to settle??? GREAT fun to do though!!
Luckily it was over 35 years ago now - these days I'd have had SO-19 kicking the door in looking for terrorists. Back then boom putty was the go-to for most jobs. Not any more.- youth of today doesn't know what its missing... :( :(

What fun we had before Elf and Safety

I came home yesterday all worn and feeling hot and bothered after another 45min commute.
Mrs DW topping up her Furlough Tan (She had though spent 4hrs stripping that putrid Yellow cack off walls, so can't argue).
As M/C was open, I changed clothes, and went outside, intending to converse with Mrs DW about day and whilst door was open, spend sometime removing some Track Links off sprues. I literally did 3 links and the heat in M/C stopped me carrying on.
I did though, rejig shelves to allow my kit purchases to sit proudly on shelf's.
Maybe I'll get some more done this weekend,
Have a safe and pleasant weekend, stay safe.

      Hi all

Well, as you will know from previous posts, I ended up on another 1/1 Scale sized project i.e. Hall, Landing and Stairs.......... :eeek:
I have not posted anything, mainly, cuz I have done nothing in Man-Cave for two weeks, until today.
The Decorating has been completely B£@)'s deep
Its been totally an absolutely all consuming.
In life, and in my Modelling, I tend to be so OCD about everything. I am a pain to be around. II know. Mrs DW has been a Rock and looked after me, whilst I have thrown everything at the Hall, Landing and Stairs.
I took a week off work (we were supposed to be going on a Cruse for 2 weeks, but with Covid-19, this went completely T!t's up). I have been getting up at 07:00 each morning of "holiday", having some toast, few cups of coffee and then carrying on with prepping walls till 16:00.
      It really has been exhausting.
      Today, Nada, Nothing, Zip.......
Actually got into M/C and did manage to finally, finally finish off cutting off all the individual Track-Links from sprues and sanding them all. I have not counted all of the links, but its a good few.
      Last few to sand
      Image
      Finished
      Image
I then managed to finally glue the Barrel into its Turret location with Revell Contacta.
      Image
      Image
      Image
Its not much, I know, but I have all of the components readyish, and next job is to remove the Road Wheel Tyres from sprue and cause some damage to them, for a little realism.
Lovely to be back in fold again, and I hope you are all well, and families safe and sound.
      Love and Peace chaps,

Don't worry Donk we wouldn't let you stray far from the pack.

Progress is progress and there is a lot of links. I'm kinda starting to like the link and length type with the molded in sag. Such a time saver and clean up is minimal .
Looks great though and big plus for the Pe looks great really up lifts it.

      Hi all

I was gonna post this on Sunday, but with the best intentions, I fell asleep after a truly knackering weekend which left me craving a return to work for some rest :eeek: .
As those of you who will have read previous posts will know, I have been consumed by the DIY / Decorating project from Hell :bash: .
Those innocent words, uttered some 3 months ago at the start of the Covid-19 Lockdown, have repeatedly come back to kick me over and over again. I truly wish I had said No at the time, and Financially, Physically and Mentally I would be a stronger and richer Guy :th: .
Well I didn’t and this is what you get…………..3 moths on and still not finished.
You are sitting there reading this thinking, is he mad? Well maybe a little.
Is he C£@p at decorating? Maybe? (actually, I’m told by friends and family that my decorating is really very good, but its my “Attention to detail”, that lets me down, I’d never make a Professional Decorator as I take to long on projects).
      Is he Hen-Pecked? Definitely Not!
I’m just an average Joe, who is trying to make his Wife happy and his domain nice.
Again, those who have read my previous posts on Primrose Yellow paint, and the chemical reactions it’s been causing in this house, will know it’s been a trial (I don’t think Mass Murderers have had sentences passed down as bad as this  ).
The Scaffolding is still in place (the Scaffolder is being very patient for his £85 originally paid for the erecting of the platform). The walls are for most parts still relatively bare of paint.
As a person who has for most of his life suffered with Bi-Polar and ongoing OCD, the ongoing saga with the Hall, Landing and Stairs, and the fact that these three areas connect every part of the other living areas, is really being tested to the eighth degree of his Mental and Physical faculties.
Despite sealing up rooms, the Yellow Dust has crept into every part of the house. It sits on every surface, and grins and torments very part of my OCD and requirement to have a spick and span house.
Despite numerous sweeps with wet Micro-Fibre cloths, the dust penetrates everywhere.
But, enough of DIY and Disasters, lets talk about Plastic construction.
Sunday, I crept off to the M/C, and turned on the electric (yup, I have a Master Control switch that switches the M/C on and off). Flicked the Kettle, made a strong cup of coffee and straightened the tools of the trade, ready for some real Man on Plastic action  .
The T62A is, believe it or not, covered by a fine layer of dust, having seen no activity in the M/C for weeks.
All of the Sub-Assemblies are complete, except for some small detail pieces, such as Clear Plastic Periscope Lenses that I will install at the end, after painting and most of the Weathering.
My first thing to do was to attach the KTD-2 Laser Range Finder to the Barrel.
This isn’t very precise on the Instructions, on how far up the Mantlet it needs to sit, but some well chosen images from the www, gave some clear definitive location.
So here is an image of said Laser Range Finder both close-up and down the Barrel and me pointing it out with my trusty “Pointy Stick” HB.
      Image
      Image
      Image
The final part to be added to the Turret, is this little piece of thin tubing, that I suspect moves the IR Searchlights in conjunction with the elevating and depressing Barrel? Certainly looks that way :D .
A good tight cut with sharp cutters and a swish of a Ultimate sander and the part was placed in its two locating points with some TET.
      Image
      Image
With that in place and a quick squizz through instructions for a check on any parts missing off Turret, Nope!, so that’s all good.
Its time to get some major Sub-Assemblies on to the Lower Hull.
The first part to go on, is the Front Glacis and Turret Ring Assembly.
      Image
This is not complete and I have left off the rather fragile basket (Headlamp Protector) that sits on the Headlamps, mainly because the Clear Plastic parts will need to be added after painting, and it would be a very, very tight squeeze to get the Clear parts in with the baskets around them. The fit was superb. No warp, or twisting of plastic. Four location points and a bead of Revell Contacta Adhesive around the inside edges and a squeeze with fingers and its as solid as a rock.
Then, we moved on to the Rear Engine Deck.
      Image
This was also made up of two Sub-Assemblies that I had already completed previously, quick blow with A/B and dust removed. Fit was again sublime. Bit of Revell Contacta Adhesive again along edges and the whole plate fits perfectly. Really a joy to build.
      Image
Well, I thought, if this is going so easy, why not have another cup of coffee and do a bit more?
Not touched these yet, but the outer Wheel Rubbers come separately in this kit. They are a quite hard black plastic composite. Need some work on them. Cut from Sprues and then given a hard Sandpapering around edges to remove shiny surface and moulded lines. Whilst distressing the edges I also took an Exacto Blade and a Zuron cutter to take nicks and cuts into edges to depict wear and tear. This is the result.
      Image
      Image
I intend to completely obliterate one of the tyres with the Dremel to give a real sense of punishment during these times.
All in all, quite happy with the progress on this, slow but steady and measured (unlike the Decorating). That I’m afraid is the lot. Thank you for reading this and if you do leave any comments, be kind. This old bugger is a bit fragile now, and the Modelling is the only thing that keeps the head above the proverbial briney stuff.
By the way, these came in the post today.
      Image

Not normally a 1/48 scale chap, but these were on sale on www.emodels.co.uk and looked very interesting kits.
Take good care of your families and friends, and most of all yourselves. Look after your Mental Health. Take care of that, cuz without that, its difficult to even survive.
      Love and Peace chaps,
      DW

PS: A Pest Control chap removed a Wasps Nest this morning from my works, and we looked inside at the marvellous natural Geometry of these builders. He is going to acquire a larger complete unit for me, so I can display it at home. Amazing.

Wasps nest looks... weird. Don't know about displaying one of those, but it's definitely a different home furnishing.

Blimey DW I'd missed that Project Primrose now involved scaffolding as well - you really have gone major league on that, and yes I know what it's like to end up with a seemingly never ending coat of dust on everything (although not as bad as Digger had it recently). Keep plugging away at it mate and focus on the sense of achievement that will come when you get to the end of it as you surely will.

It's great to see that you managed to get some time in at the bench amongst all this and love the way you've managed to distress the tyres too.

The wasps nest is just a fascinating construct isn't it?

Good to see you back posting again mate - stay well! :cheers2:
      Cheers, Neil

      Hello, Hello, Hello

How are you all, in this weird Limbo time of after the Lockdown (of course not forgetting our American chums and South America chums, who really are in the thick end of the Covid-19).
Well life in the DW world is still very obsessed with Decorating.
Mrs DW has really stepped up to the mark, and been a sterling help in Glossing the hell out of the Woodwork, and Boy, is there a lot of woodwork :bash: Everyday, shes been donning the Decorators Garb and going to town with Gloss and Brush.
Finally, yesterday (Monday), the Scaffold came down. Removed by the Scaffolders and taken away. This means that we can push on with that 1' strip that we couldn't get too with the platform in place.
When it came down (literally minutes it took two Scaffolders to remove), the strip revealed areas where we couldn't remove the Wallpaper from behind the Scaffold poles.
Now with the Scaffold down, its time to get on with it. I know you love a few images so here you go. Excuse the Black Panther that is Sergey, who came into shot at the shout from the Kitchen of "Food, Food, Food".
      Image
The plaster work is a bit dodgy (Blown), so Mrs DW has chipped it out ready for a touch of Plaster to be added.
      Image
This hole reminds me of the continent of Africa in shape.
      Image
By the way, have you seen my Marrow
      Image
      Here's my first Broad Beans,
      Image
I did go into the M/C on Sunday, but just could not get my MoJo going for much modelling. With all thats going on in the house, the Modelling has taken a sidestep out of the way.
I did manage to get both complete Fenders attached to the side of the Hull. I generally hate adding Fenders, as they are normally warped, location grooves or holes not aligned, and various hurdles that stop the Fenders from lining up correctly. As normal with this Trumpeter kit, spot on with alignment :th: .
      Image
And another shot. I also attached the two Spare Fuel Tank Barrels and again the location points and fit was spot on.
      Image
Its not much, I know. I apologise for lack of Modelling and dragging you into the World of DW
As the Decorating starts to be completed, I know the solace of the M/C will really come back to the fore.
Take good care till next time,
      Love and Peace,
      DW

Apart from the cat feeding on the front fender ( :) ) it is a very nice looking bit of kit and your handling the mild issues with aplomb.

All you need now is to have that song " we all live in a yellow submarine " running through your head Just to help with that
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
      In the land of submarines
So we sailed up to the sun
'Til we found a sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
      In our yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
And our friends are all aboard
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
(Full speed ahead Mr. Parker, full speed ahead
Full speed ahead it is, Sergeant
      Action station, action station
      Aye, aye, sir, fire
      Captain, captain)
As we live a life of ease
Everyone of us has all we need (has all we need)
Sky of blue (sky of blue) and sea of green (and sea of green)
In our yellow submarine (in our yellow, submarine, ha ha)
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
      Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine

      Hi all

      Hope you're well?
To be honest, the decorating, and now stair refurbish is soldiering on, but I can see light at end of tunnel, whereas before it was just a black morass
Sunday, my normal day of modelling, and set aside as a total day of rest and me time, again didn't plan that way in the end.
I did manage to get into M/C and that was usual, but what happened during that time, was again, life catching up with "Me Time".
I spent an hour in M/C with good cups of coffee and my favourite biscuit of a Fig Roll. I though just could not get into modelling. I didn’t feel in the right frame of mind.
Its not a question of MoJo, its just that with everything going on in the house, its not a great time for concentrating on a hobby.
The kit itself is now in all its Sub-Assemblies and very close to a touch of paint going down  .
I haven’t though done anything with the tracks, other than cut them off sprues, cleaned them up and separated into individual amounts ready for assembly.
This is the start of the assembly, and they are going together rather well, even have a positive location, which has added a spot of TET for securing purpose.
So, I just carried on clicking them together then adding drops of TET, this is the result of an hours work. Not much really.
      Image
      Image
      Image
      Image
Quick shot of the Lower Hull, Upper Hull and Turret that is all complete save for Clear parts that will be added after A/B work.
      Image
      Image
I also, put together a figure included with kit, that is a really well crafted figure in a relaxed sitting posture and great facial details.
      Image
      Image
Not totally decided on whether I’m going to use the supplied figures (wonderful as they are), cuz that would mean a full diorama.
Just thought I’d leave you with some shots of a bit of demolition work at the top of the stairs.
On the Landing was a small 1m by 1m Studwork wall which was covered by Plasterboard and painted in Puke Yellow.
This was “Knocked” down by Mrs DW on Sunday, I say knocked down, she did employ rather delicate actions of manipulation, and removed sections and parts one at a time, and this left her with no wall.
This is a shot of her industrious work, just using a Stanley to trim away Scrim.
      Image
This is the end result
      Image
She was really in the Plastering Groove so off we went to our local DIY Store for some corner bead. As you will know, Corner Beads come in 2.4M lengths  So why drive to a DIY Store in a Toyota IQ, possibly the smallest car out there. You can guess the hilarity seen by others as we managed to twist enough Bead into he car to allow us to drive off. We also managed to get some British Gypsum Gap Filler which is as rare as Rocking Horse Doo Doo
Mrs DW goes to work on corner of wall with gusto and this is the result.
      Image
Needs a final skim and sand, but should pass muster. She really is getting into all this DIY.
So a couple more shots of Stairs, with paint added and walls now good to go.
      Image
This is shot from top of stairs, yes, that is a pair of my Boxers on floor
They are covering up a very pointy piece of Stair Architrave that I do not want to bash my toes on, so I tied these pants around the pointy bit.
      Image
So its getting there, with modelling and Decorating.
Hope you enjoy my ramblings and thanks for looking in,
      Take good care of yourself,

      Console yourself with this thought:

What is DIY & decorating but modelling/diorama building in a 1:1 scale??

You've been doing a lot of diorama construction, you just didn't realise it!!

I kid you not, it was like Dumb & Dumber working, I jumped into the nearest available car which was our IQ and only had to get the Corner Beading.........
as we only needed 1m of beading it didn't matter that the rest was bent up in the rear of car so Hatch could close.

        Morning caps

Hope you're all well. families well and staying safe.
Well, another packed weekend of DIY, but to be honest, a lot of it is drawing to the end now.
Primary goal this weekend, was to get the Hall Carpet up and take a good look at floor below. I had managed a sneak preview of what was underneath carpet, having trimmed all the carpet off 6" around skirting, so as to paint skirting, and replace a section of Skirting that was damaged beyond repair. The floor is a beautiful Orange coloured wood which looked from the edges unused, not walked on.
So on Saturday, off came the carpet to reveal this.
        Image
        Absolutely beautiful
Couple of odd stains, but armed with some coarse Wire Wool and some very fine wool, these came out with a bit of rubbing action
I have some Libor Danish Oil that I am going to apply next weekend, so should enhance the floor even more than it is.
Our two cats (Cleo the B&W) and Sergey the Black Cat), have been intrigued with the effect of running through the Lounge, and where there was grip from Carpet in Hall, now its gone...... :eeek: Bit like the scene in Risky Business.
        Image
        Image
        Modelling?
I did manage a couple of hours in M/C and managed to mount all Sub-Assemblies on Cocktail Sticks ready for painting.
        Image
        Image
        Image
        Image
These have all been given 2 x Coats of Mr Hobby Surface Primer 1000 straight from the Rattle Can.
Hopefully, next session will see me shoot a base coat of Green down via A/B on to model.
Finally the Modelling is coming back to the fore
        Take care people. stay safe.

I use the white Mr hobby 1200 out of a jar and sprayed with a airbrush and it doesn't look as smooth as yours.

Lovely wood flooring. Did the same with mine a few years back. Mine is Jarrah though, wasn't finished and had plaster split all over it. A lot of sanding was involved not to mention having to knock down a thousand or so nails and fill. You got really lucky there.

I have many different Primers, from different manufactures (Alclad, Vallejo and various others), but have always found that the best primers for me (just my opinion), is Grey or Black Primer from Halfords (UK based Car Parts chain), or Mr Hobby direct from Rattle can.
I always tend to spray outside, on a still day, and use the A/B just as an Air Duster prior to spraying. Barring a winged insect free-falling on to the object being sprayed  , I rarely get problems. I also, tend to spray 1st coat, very lightly.
Nothing out of the ordinary and nothing new or different.
The flooring has been lucky. I had a few nails where I had to cut them off with a cutting disc in Dremel, and the nails used for attaching the Carpet Grabbers, were filled with conventional Wood Filler.
I'm gonna spend an hour each night after work, on my hands and knees :eeek: , rubbing a meter square patch of floor with some coarse Wire-Wool and some fine grade. Its not bad the surface, just specks of paint and marks from underlay. Hoping at weekend, to get a coat of the Danish Oil on (it has a 8 hour dry time, so as the hall is used as main passageway, gonna have to coat in morning).
Mrs DW off to DIY to get some quadrant to fit around gap between floor and Skirting.
        Cheers for looking in Digger.
Hope you and family are well?

        Hi Digger

Glad to hear your isolated from this Pandemic, and hoping you're Daughter is safe and well.

I am now on the last hurdle with the Hall, Landing and Stairs Project, that has taken up so much of my "Me" time, that my favourite hobby has taken a back seat.
I even managed my usual session in M/C on Sunday, and got out the Apex A/B to give this tank a coat of paint.
I loaded the cup of the A/B with a drop or two of Vallejo Flow and a couple of drops of Mig Transparator, just to give a more Satin lustre.
I then loaded the following AK4135 Base Green into A/B Cup for base coat.
        Image
Just sprayed on a very light mist.
Course, it didn't go swimmingly, as A/B started playing up and spattering paint. It was then I realised the pressure on Compressor was right down to 1.0 Bar.
        Image
I turned up Pressure and the spray became more constant and smooth. The result though was quite blotchy and faded in areas
This I thought was a disaster, but as it dried, the effect became better and gave a very washed out and patchy effect that years under a Afghan Sun would be more consistent with.
        Image
        Image
        Image
        Image
See, the turret was sprayed at a higher Pressure and therefore more even than Hull and wheels.
I generally didn't go for this effect, and probably wouldn't be able to replicate it again, but for all the Modulation and fading in the world, would not get this effect straight off, first time
Left to dry and we'll see how it looks once completely dry and cured.
By the way, this morning, Mr & Mrs DW, spent an hour painting Liberon Hard Wax Oil, by brush and roller on to wooden Planking Hall floor. It takes 8 hours to dry / cure fully, so should be dry enough to walk on at 15:00 today. Hope to get some photos of 1st Coat.
        Image
This was a before, I'll post 1st Coat images later.
        Take care all,
        DW

I like the way you roll with the punches. Looks good and the floor ain't bad either...going to look marvelous once you get the finishing oil coats on.

PS... I'm feeling that if one of those pops up in my field of view that I'm going to find it hard to resist. ;)

Many thanks for kind words and looking in,

Love the modulation, looks like the modelling gods have looked down with great kindness as you have developed ‘DW’s Modulation Technique‘ - yeh that catchy phrase might need a bit of work

Floors looking pretty good too :th:

Wow DW you really did strike lucky with both the floor and the fading on the tank :) :th:

That'll be your positive payback for all that yellow you suffered earlier in the project :)
