Upper surfaces primed in Ultimate Gelb
Lower surfaces primed Ultimate white 80% + RAF Sky 20%
I like the lighter underbelly colour and dislike the baby puke full on RAF sky

Powering along, I wouldn't have thought your mojo suffered a hit at all. Very nicely applied primer coats very even and smooth...very nice and love the engine work.

I just watched a great documentary on Netflix about the Spitfire called "Spitfire: The Plane that Saved the World." Seeing the great men and women who flew these planes is the kind of thing that makes my eyes sweat.

That's one of the things I love about the hobby. The context and the history. I like a bit of sci-fi because I'm a Star Wars fan but working on WW2 kits really does it for me.

And you cant beat a Spitfire, lovely build so far Scott. Get the cement mixer ready for those joins though!

Love that "half-shell" shot - the detail on the engine just pops out in that one.

I cemented her landing gear into down position just now, and even that has cool angles to it.

I have 3 1/48 Spits on display in my lounge, not a day goes by that I dont see those beautiful clean lines and those wings. One is a Mk IX, the other 2 are Griffon engined birds. The Griffs are more nose heavy and have beefed up rudders but still clean and with the original wing. Beautiful

Fill in the gaps morning.
Attacking those openings with sprue glue, TET, styrene strips, whips and chains


A series of styrene strips fitted into the wing root gap. Hoping for minimal finish needs

Battling the seams and trying to fill everything
Then I have a laugh at a funny post about the seams on an A-10 Warthog...obvious central seam right down her nose


So I look into real MkI Spitfires and find they had large root wing gaps and seams all over. Often they made fillets to cover over and smooth the seams







SO I think I am going to relax a bit and just get her smoothish and plan for paint

Lovely photo Scott of family and nice to Puzzles still being completed (or not).
Really nice work on this old kit, which dates me as I was produced in 65, so the kit is in a better state than I am.
Love the Magnet work, gonna show off the great Engine Paintwork.

The join of the fillet to the wing surface is an existing panel line so it does give you some help. All you need is to fill the gap to create the natural level of the wing then the fillet takes over as it curves up into the fuselage.

The hardest join on the Spit is the upper engine cowl because its flat / flat over the exhausts. Hard not to destroy the surface detail (if there is any).

I built an Eduard Spit in 1/48 and the best decision I ever made was to buy a resin 1 piece cowl to replace the kit 2 piece job. I just couldnt face it!

I think the photos are of a model, not the real thing. On the real thing, the fillet overlaps where it meets the side of the fuselage but it abuts the wing skin, it doesn't go over it.

Some progress. She is in her final prime layer top side
I threw on the prop and glass for photos. Some seams but overall pretty happy













I bumped her and knocked her to the floor and broke off one wheel cover and sent the tires scattering
So she stays in her bare feet until all paint is done

Seriously considering doing a fast build on it to get it to the camouflage stage and paint both at the same time

Bit disappointed actually, it is basically a re-box same decals too

If you fancy another nice 1/32 Spit, the newer Revell kits are good. They do a Mk1 and a MkIX, both of which are well liked and cheap as chips.
