Spaceship is coming along

It's coming along! The humidity shot sky high so painting has been a problem but here is where I am as of today.
I has no idea the lunar module was so many colors! It was coated with different materials depending where it was on the ship. There are at least 4 different mylar coatings - gold, red/orange, black, and silver; as well as red fiberglass, white fiberglass, and silver tape. The hull is made of various acid anodized material - sulfuric acid anodize (two types) and chromic acid anodized (two types).
I'll be lucky to get the foil on anything close to looking decent!

I had to start somewhere though:





The Command Module - what a warped mess. The cone is warped and something inside the crew area is hitting the shell so it won't close up!





Out comes the grinder!





A bit better. Tape and super glue to the rescue.







Bondo makes its appearance!





Glue Goo for the finishing touch. I hope.

Nice progress! Looks like there was a lot of excess material available to grind off. It doesn't look like you ground thru anywhere.

Yep nicely done sorting out the CM - another kit where it makes you wonder if anyone built it in the factory before shipping it out.

I think it's fair to say they was a good few of those in the past. I can think of a a few I had in the past mostly Revell and Airfix

Big deal. I added some parts to the crew module. The letter "B" all around is to show which panels will be black.



The capsule is glued on and the last of the gold foil is on. This kit is harshing me.

This kit killed my enthusiasm for it so I stopped for a while. I've been gluing parts on slowly for the last few days just to keep it going.
Here is the Command / Service Module primed up. Whoopee.

Hell yeah - I had the same problems when I built their lunar module a few years back.

Good to see you back at this one though DBM, you seem to have quite the list of filler queens on the bench at the moment
