It took me a good day to dial in the resin and learn the slicing program nuances
Then a full day to print all the parts (over two days really)
You have to plan the time of the print around your day as some are very long
It is a smidge addictive

Probably using as more resin for the supports than the subject part too.

Puppy is gotten, we rescued a two and half year old female from the breeder as he couldn’t use her. She is a bit of a social misfit and is slowly learning to live with humans. Not abused, more neglected

The figure is seven inches tall (178 mm)

Another great friend you have been lucky enough to have. I think my dog who came from a breeder must have been abused a bit as a pup. Every time I'd bring the broom out to do the floors it would cringe and slink away. It took maybe 6-7 yrs before he got over that and now totally ignores it.
Hamish also arrived in the cargo hold of a jet and any machine with a loud noise he would seek to go far away from it. Yet now I have to be careful as he has also gotten used to them and has a bad habit now of not moving until the last sec and then slowly.

More resin printing for modelling. This time a duck hood figure for a Mack Truck from the movie Convoy...I will reduce the size for the model build

Mack will be 1/24 scale

I've only printed flat parts on my sidewinder and avoided supports as much as possible so I can imagine its a whole different ball game for you scott, lots more to think about.

IT is not hard to get the supports, but I am using the free program and can't do all the cross supports necessary.
So I will have to pony up some $ (not a lot) and get the full program
It is fiddly but getting a hold of it slowly...kinda like airbrushing

I am sure you will crack it matey, it's a huge learning curve

I'm sure you will get better results when you get the extra programing. No doubt it's why they packaged it that way. The extra supports most likely will serve to keep it steady when the print process is in action.....sorry if I'm stating the bleeding obvious

Then a fine layer of Ultimate black primer layed down

That's cool!

The print resolution could almost be mistaken for a great big finger print at some angles on the ring.

Coin is 50mm diameter and ring is 20mm dia
The coin has a bit of girth to it as is 6mm thick…not quite what a lump of gold would be mind you

This is Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Canada
Wife is away watching our boy in hockey and I am home looking after the daughter, a dog and a cat.
For a resin print this weekend I decided to complete an old model with an accessory….a surfboard
It took two tries as I muffed the first print attempt by shrinking the object too much. This second one has a better design anyhow
I will try and use the base as a second board, maybe a big wooden surfboard

So the nice thing about resin printing, is once you have a file you like, you can print multiples of it.
I primed up the first board and decided to make another…then I have one for the beach surf van project done and ready to go







I have the van kit, the detail ups, the figure and now the surfboards. Just need the time and motive

I'm liking the figurine - but the wife would kill me....

An interesting and scary side note to resin printing: Toxicity

Our little cat has been sick...wasting muscle and feeling really thin the past few weeks. She lost three pounds!
It was found she had some sort of toxicity or worm ailment (vs metabolic problems like diabetes or hyperthyroid)
I fully suspect the moron has been licking at the resin in my model room. I caught her licking a floor drip a couple weeks ago
She did get out of the house a couple times escaping off the deck, Neil reminded me she may have gotten into something then
But I am quarantining the model room as off limits to pets and keeping her out while I am away.
I found the change in her weight and hopefully she plumps up with a bit of worm medicine and some special food. I think she has adjusted


Resin is really toxic and should be handled carefully.
I am going to double down own on my safety procedures now after this bit of scare and will change over to the plant based resins.
Always gloves, mask wear and glasses. I might even do a lab coat when working with it to cover all skin
Keep yourself, loved ones and pets safe

I hope she starts to feel better!

Funny thing is she never seemed different behaviour wise...just boney and skinny to my touch
She is eating the vet Rx's food like a tyrannosaur and is happy as a clam

Not a good thing when a animal loses weight. Lets hope that it works it way out of her system.

More fun this weekend
I printed out an Asian dragon. This is a seven hour print time


Then I was able to mirror the file in the programming and print out another...so left and right ball holding dragons
Add that pic later

I also printed off a Tesla cable lock for my nephew's car. Not sure how durable it will be as usually a fiber 3D print, but we will see

She follows you around when you are house cleaning and gets high on the fumes

and yes those resins are terrible....contact dermatitis and allergy, tissue damage if swallowed and liver/kidney damage. Not nice stuff.
If it gets on your hands wash with cold water so as not to open the pours in your skin and let the resin get in deeper

Ok got my photos done
These dragons are 13cm long x 3 cm wide x 7 cm tall
With clear resin, I figured some colour LEDs would add some pizzaz
The supports will stay on for a bit, it will make sense later

Moving into more scale modelling applications here
Trying to print out some mag wheels
I am calling this a partial fail as I was close, but not perfect. I did not support the outer rim properly so it flaked away making the Center part look too long
The calibration for sizing is wonky as well as these are smaller than I thought, but that just may be the lack of rim
It is all a learning curve

Was planning out some Christmas present printings and the last file I got ready and sliced has a nine hour print time. 9hr!
I think I will save that one for an early weekend morning

So instead, I did some maintenance:
Drained the resin vat and cleaned the film…instructions say to only leave the resin in the vat for 2 days; if not using in that time, drain it.
Gave the screen a good clean with a glasses lens wipe
Filtered out my used iPa and then put the clear jug onto the curing table and let fly for three minutes…will filter later again
Did the same to my Mr Clean wash jug and then onto the curing table….will filter it again to get the solids out
Wiped down all the tools with new iPa
Took stock of resin and planed for new order

So I did not print anything, but did everything important

Wheels came out pretty good apart from the lower edges scott. I have a couple of different makes of filaments, some shinny and matt and the printer reacts differently to each one meaning different settings for each one. My printer needs a good checking over and a good clean

Cat update
She has gained weight but liver enzymes still sky high. Just out of tummy surgery to look at gall bladder, bile duct and liver. The gb was blocked up and not good flow in the duct. He messed around and got things moving. Liver was normal. Cat awake and alive just coming out of sedation.

Awww poor pussy, hope she's feeling better when she comes round m8. Got to take my border terrier to the vet tomorrow, she has to have her bum glands squeezed and really don't fancy doing it myself for obvious reasons.
