Tyrrell Ford F-1 1/12 [Tamiya]

The decal paper finally arrived. Made a set of decals and printed by laser at the local office works. Turned out really well.

Painted with brushes, and used an acrylic clear for the decal overcoat. Nose and wing still not finished - need more sanding etc.

Made the cooling pipes out of 3mm aluminium wire. The hose clamps are 0.5mm wire that have been crimped with a pair of pliers over heat shrink tubing.
Added the wiring coming from the steering console.

This is a nice model to build, and its starting to look really good as it comes to nearing the final stages.

It's finally done. Turned out very nice. My skills are improving as I did a lot of detailing and some scratch building to add to the already awesome Tamiya kit.

I didnt really like this car when I started it, but as time went on I fell in love with it. The 1970's cars are so raw, not like the clean things of later eras.

Thanks everyone. Your encouragement will make my next build even better . . . I'm very pleased with the final result. This was a real treat to build and a real nice model.

Now I'm not sure whether to do another 70s car ( maybe the Tamiya Lola T70 if I find a bargain, or one of the Lotus's), or a 1/32 F14 Tomcat or Phantom - always liked the look of those planes, and a big model like that would be a real challenge. Or something else . . . who knows what will turn up next on the bench. The 1/12 Revell F2002 Ferrari is the only kit in my stash, and I'm not ready to build it yet.
