I do have a photo scan of the decals along side a ruler

Found this stuff in the bottom of a drawer…will give it a try.
Even if it works, I am an essential Miss Budweiser decal down
if I were smart I would have tested the champion or penzoil decals that are easily replaced :wall:
My local decal guy has ghosted me so far 😡

What a bummer with those decals :(

It may be a PITA but could you print out a photo of the original boat (or off the instructions) and scale that to create a mask for painting instead?

I guess the "Budweiser" bit is doable, but the "Miss" looks a bit more tricky

It you have not lost both the Miss Budweiser decals try scanning the remaining sheet on a printer into your PC. If you have the second Miss Budweiser decal cut out, add it to the scanned print you made and re scan it again. This should give you a complete copy of the decal sheet saved. You should now be able to print it again onto white decal sheet.

She’s not dead yet!

These are BFRD’s designed decals printed by Spot Models. They look WAAAAYYY better than the kit decals ever did!
May get this back on the desk over Christmas break…we shall see

How close is the scale of the new decals compared to the old ones? That is the aspect I was most worried about.

Well this is surprise
Messing on the Rolls Royce Merlin’s for the Miss Bud and for my Spitfire
Got some 3D RR printed name plates done

Image

Modified the kit magnetos with another 3D print just to bump up the detail. I removed the white kit magnetos and used their mounting backing in behind

Image

So much more detail with the 3D print, not even comparable

Yep 3d printing is the future at least for the ad on parts. I can see the demise of the resin manufacturers of both kits and add on's or at least a thinning of the heard....imho.
Definitely thinking that I'll have to go down that path at some point and now scanners are becoming a lot more affordable as well.

:cheers2:

Strewth I hadn't realised this one started back in 2022... great to see her back on the bench and making progress again.

The extra detail from the 3d printed extras properly brings it to another level

:pop:

A little bit of work done on the Bud’s engine
I 3D printed spark plugs from a free file I found
First try scale waaaaay off

Image

Went back and reduced scale by a third…better but you lose detail

FYI other things that look good in red and gold, Canada wins Four Nations Cup over the USA
