Yesterday I started with my base.
As you can see, I use a picture frame from Ikea.This is pretty high but I need this space later. I like to use picture frames. they are easy to use in the processing and they are cheap.
You see it here already masked.
Then I filled the frame with a mass of bird sand, wood glue and water. In the wet mass I have inserted my grave outline and various parts.
The whole thing with tank. Only loose fitted so I can still work on my Pz II.

This morning I took care of the inscription.
I wanted to tinker me some stencils and then airbrush everything.I had tried it and had to give that up.
Well I bought self-adhesive sheets that you can print. I have labeled these according to my wishes.
Now just cut and stick. I know you does not praise yourself but I have done well!

Awesome looking diorama, you don´t see the combination of a wreck and grave often. nice writing on the base aswell.

You certainly have. The text on the frame is very effective.The choice of fonts and the contrast between the colour and the bare wood, it all looks really good. And the model too of course, the grave adds a poignant touch.

Today, I still found time to do something on the kit.
To get some practice with figures, a British corporal visit the dead german comrade.
The figure comes from Italeri and was a part of the Vintage Crusader.You can see the age of the figure but it fits well with the theme.

Here is a picture of Corporal from behind. I like his natural position A shot of the exhaust. For the first time I've used homemade pigments for representation of rust.

Sehr Gut Mien Freund. Love the simplicity of the lay out. The printing is very crisp. May be one to think about for your next build is to have all the elements at a but of an angle to each other. As apparently that is the better way to do it.

Still love it though.

Cool idea to add the british tanker, respecting the enemy suits the african war theatre.

In the book "The Desert Foxes" by Paul Carell wrote that the respect of the warring parties in Africa was higher,than anywhere else in the war.British and German met often in the no man's land in order to save their wounded together. Bets were placed when and who win the battles ...

War glambling, I like it! LOL Great dio man, really moving, tells a really great story, as all great dios do.

Very impressive work Kevin (especially the track demarcation on the grave)! I've seen such graves on several pics from North Africa and from the Russian Campaign that I guess your dio will represent this part of the war in a very realistic manner !

It is the first Advent and I still have no idea what to give my wife for Christmas

Today I have added a few more things on the kit.

The grave was filled with stones. This was done often in Africa.At night coyotes often came and dug out the fallen soldiers.The stones should avoit this.
I also have conjured an oil spot under the sprocket...
I am absolutely fascinated how many different Pz II we have. All look great and everyone has their personal style.

Great diorama man, awesome job on the battle damage and the grave, and nice to see you've done your research with the stones to cover it. Great wooden base for it too, all in all a very moving dio!
