Good evening,
Firstly thank you all for looking in and taking the time to comment on my build.
I have now painted and "worn" the smaller parts of the casemate. I have added the decals and started to weather them to match the paint work.
I have decided to go for the SS Sturmgeschütz Abt2 "Das Reich"from Belgorod, Russia July 1943 scheme.
I decided not to add the green camouflage marks as the paint was worn enough and I think that the green would not add anything "extra" to the finish.
I have painted and added the smaller tools and track pulling cables ready for final weathering
I have added the running gear and tracks and started to weather them to match the rest of the vehicle.
Next up will be a pin wash, filters and further weathering then addition of the stowage and perhaps the start of some figures
I look forward to reading your comments.

Great look so far and is exactly as you would expect in a 43 Russian scheme. Really looking forward to seeing your pin washes and final weathering.

Tracks are sitting nicely with the sag on the return rollers. Can't have a jerry tank without the old saggy!

I think, at this scale, figures are almost a must for AFVs. Its just my opinion but the scale just screams out for them.

Yes I have to agree with you there, I hope I can do them justice, figure painting is not one of my stronger points.

Good afternoon,
I have made a start on painting the figure set for my STuG.
After assembly they were primed with tamiya extra smooth grey primer to try and identify anything that needed fixing.
Once happy I sprayed them with Mr surfacer 1500 black.
Next they were gathered together in a similar pose as to how they will be sitting on the STuG.
Once I was happy with this, I sprayed AK Real Colour Creme Weiss at an elevated 45 degree angle from the direction they were all looking, this gave me a "sketch of where the highlights and shadows would fall in the finished group.
Here is a photo of the progress so far, it was taken in natural light with no additional lighting or flash, so the highlights and shadows you see are all painted. (there is a window with a closed blind to the right of the photo, you can just see the light cast on the background card in the top right corner.)
I am waiting now for delivery of some paints os that I can continue.
I look forward to reading you comments.

Good day,
I have made a bit of progress on my STuG, I have made a start detail painting the some of the stowage, I use the relatively newly introduced AK 3G paints for this.
I have also made a start on painting the first figure, the tank commander. The bas colours have been added and now I have to work on the blending of the light and shadow and also the face and eyes require some more work.
I look forward to reading your comments.

my god ! stunning work ! the accessories are just too real to be a model. The wood effect on the crates is stunning. Can't wait to see the next update.

Me neither, the figurines are so real than we can almost hear them speaking!
