Old stuff, but still teeny bit of relevant modelling

The second coat and this was made in the inner parts of upper surface panels, I used AMMO Real Faded Sinai Grey A.MIG-0066
Although, I had bought the legend Droid, I wasn’t convinced that I would use. Again, I still could not find images that showed this unit on the Nagmachon. Any Hoo, I built it to see how it went together. These are the instruction.

This was one of the PE Sheets.

This builds into this.


So, beginning of April arrives and my legs at their worse both in pain and the knock-on symptoms i.e. No sleep due to pain, Mrs DW booked five days for us in a Chalet in deepest, darkest Norfolk. These Chalets were on a farm and in a tiny Norfolk village Mattishall near Dereham. It was just what I needed, well done Mrs DW. The view below is from the deck at rear of Chalet, which gives you aspect of remoteness.





Tapestry in Living Area



The first morning, bearing in mind I slept on that two-seater sofa in Living Area, I woke at 06:00 and watched Deer outside the French Doors.


We explored Norfolk which I know well from childhood holidays on The Broads ((for those who don’t know, these are waterways that were used for drainage when claiming the land in Norfolk for agricultural use many, many years ago. Lots of people hire boats and spend weeks and weeks pootling up and down theses vast waterways. This view is of Potter Heigham.

This is a view of Mundesley Beach. One of my favourite British beaches. Its quintessentially British. Beach Huts, Candy Floss, Fish & Chips.




This is another quintessential British Beach, Cromer, famous for Cooked Crabs.


Traditionally, I always have a Turkish Haircut. It’s just what I like doing on holiday.


So, on my return from a great holiday, its back to the bench. Carry on with the Droid. I painted the “Eyes” with drops of silver paint and masked with Masking Fluid. The unit was the primed with Black Primer (One Shot again).

Having thought a lot about the kit supplied Tracks, I realized I wasn’t going to use them. It was therefore Fruil bought Centurion IDF Puma tracks.



Of course, if your using Metal Tracks you need the following.


So as the tacks bath in their blue chemicals, we'll call it a day.

Lovely view of the country side. My view is one of wheat fields going golden.
Shame with all the advances in medical tech they can't fix a pair of legs.
I think the fruil tracks are a good choice and likely better than the Royal brand in that while Royal go together easily it's only because the tolerances are sloppier. So drilling out the holes in fruil is just something one has to do.

The Wheat fields seems idyllic.
I actually love opening a box of Fruil and spending a evening sitting drilling out the holes. Its very therapeutic.

Good afternoon you lovely people

By the way, this is end of April 2023, and still travelling on Train to work, and no news regarding being fit to drive. Although, I did get a letter from the DVLA and I have to say, before opening this, I was left feeling quite sick, what if the stopped me driving? Well, it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was a letter to renew my licence. No decision on Fitness to Drive but they want me to remember to renew licence.
By now, Mr Postman is broken with deliveries.

Plus, this beautifully moulded figure. Got to have a figure as it gives scale and size to models. My view anyway, and when you see final review images, you’ll get the scale.

Finally, some good news, not the DVLA or my health.

I had been trying to track down a piece of the puzzle to building the Nagmachon. Despite many, many searches on the www. I cold not find the Desert Eagle Publishing No15 Nagmachon Heavy APC book. It was Sold out everywhere. So contacted one of the Authors Michael Mass. An absolute legend in IDF Armour. He responded and after a few emails and some monies exchanged, this absolute beauty arrived from Israel.

He even signed it (Wow).



During a trip from Stafford, I saw this at Stafford station. Are we going backwards in our National Rail stock.

Oh, here comes Mr Postman again, hunched over with his bad back, cursing our post-box.






Finally, on the 1.5.24 the letter I have been waiting, anticipation, and somewhat dreading arrived. So much wait for a sentence that said the following: From the information we have received you satisfy the medical standards for safe driving. Bingo! Finally, I can drive to work and use company vehicles. No more trains.
I decided to use the following to create Rust tones on the Side Skirts Chains. They look a bit bright now, but once weathered this will tone down.


I carried on highlighting areas, the IDF denote items on AFV with Red paint especially Handles, Safety Cut-Offs and so on. Also, I left one of the covers off the Grenade Dischargers and highlighted Grenades in Green. The covers to these units were painted in various washes of Brown.










Well its up to you how this is going, i'm loving it, its a great model.

Looking great DW!! It seems all armies are partial to red paint on things that actually aren't meant to be seen.
We won't go into the Freudian analytics of the figure choice - it will, as you say carry the sense of scale off well.

And congrats on getting the clear to drive letter! That must really have made your day after all the worry & train misery!!!

Some good news and the kit is coming along a real treat.

Thank you Neil. Your right ref the Red paint and Camo, but the size of this behemoth and its use makes Camo a bit of a waste. What are you insinuating? I just have never painted a figure with lumps and curves before
I "Fancied" a go. That didn't sound good did it. Mrs DW just gave me her infamous roll of eyes and said , about my comment about scale "Whatever, if you want to get your jolly's with a hairy stick on a little figure".
Not having my ability to commute has been, well, bloody annoying and thats putting it lightly. Justice though prevails and HR fails.

Hi all

A little more ramblings:

So having been discharged from the Hospital on the 3rd day, and having carried out every piece of advice, I was given two weeks Sick and off home I went. My Sister-in-Law picked me up and took me the short journey home. I settled on the Sofa and I remember squishing down into the familiar sofa and fell asleep for four solid hours. Wonderful.
I had a couple of days off work and in that time, I got to go out to M/C and start on Dio for Nagmachon. I had bought a couple of simple Wooden plinths from eBay. I masked up the edges, and applied the brilliant VMS Diorama Texture No 2 Sand & Stone mixture. This was smeared on to sanded base (I sanded the base with rough grit to give some purchase). This was then sprinkled with Cat Litter and some further fine Gravel. The Vehicle was pushed into the VMS to indent tracks into base.









The base was sprayed with various shades of brown.


Whilst the base was drying, I could get on with painting the figure.








She'll do.
Mrs DW says I could get a job doing women's hair as the Highlights and Low-lights are spot on

If you did get a job doing ladies hair Mrs DW would find an alternative use for a frying pan.

Good afternoon all

I hope you're all banging out models and enjoying the smell of a new plastic kit when opened


I'm going to wrap up this post as time has spun on since finished and with Physical and Mental struggles, i want to catch up with latest builds.
This was a great build, and enjoyed it so much. I want to do more IDF based kits as they are so interesting.
so here we go with the last images of this Behemoth.





















So here endeth the build. A very enjoyable kit, a good fit and enjoyable.
Hope it inspired and you enjoyed.
Now lets have a dig through the stash and find something else.

Got all those bars sorted and plenty of items to fully load the deck nicely. A stand out amongst those is the cardboard cartons...very believable.

Lovely job DW - colour me impressed (as always)!!! Those little touches really bring it to life.

Very nice build! Like you, I enjoy adding the small details and this one has it for sure. I agree with you concerning the interesting and complex vehicles of the IDF. I have a IDF Sherman on the back burner to build as well as a Mercava.

You should be proud of this one.....

Thank you Digger. From you thats greatly appreciated. This build began, in 2024. Due to health, Work and M/H issues, input into this site has been stuttered and brief.
I still know your all here and still the best site by far for knowledge, and input.

I agree the IDF does some interesting modifications to old gear. I myself would like to pick up a Super Sherman ( Isherman ) probably leaning towards the Cyberhobby boxing from Dragon if I can find one.
Main thing is your still with us and we all hope you can get on top of things and resume your most interesting input.




EDIT.
Since I wrote this I have had a major change of heart and decided Cyberhobby can keep their version and I'll be chasing a Tamiya or at a push a Academy m51.

Which Tiger 1 are you building?? I've done the Academy versions in Mid- and Late production and the Airfix Early production (which is basically a reboxed Academy one).

Oh boy ! how could I miss this build for that long even if I haven't been here too often... professional build as always ! I'll catch up the reading after work. May be you already mentioned it but what is the fence for around it ?

I have developed a recognized medical syndrome in men who have been married a while.
It effects the neck due to nodding all the time, that and Lock Jaw
Going for the good old trusted make of Tamiya.
