The cover needs a layer or 2 more for I find it to thin now. Those cover were pretty thick.
I'm searching now for photos of the mesh gates. I think the mesh was between two pieces of metal instead of attached on one side. If you know what I mean, hard to explane...

Hello fellas!

Had some time to spare again, and I started to work on the mesh side gates.
As I said yesterday, I did liked the mesh, but not the way how it's just glued on the gates.



Could not find a clear pic of the real one, but I got a lot of PE references, and came across this shiny pic.



Now I promissed to build this kit out of the box, no PE involved, so time to work with plastic card...



After some cutting and gluing...



Now it looks like the mesh is between the gates as it supose to be...
I think this looks way better...



With this done, this build is finished!





Tomorrow I will check on small errors, And i'm thinking of adding a few more layers to the wind shield cover to make it slightly thicker.
The commander is also standing on the vehicle now, looking for a duck to shoot for Cristmas supper....
The 5th crew member (Carrier) Died in combat... (had a little accident falling flat faced in a puddle super glue) poor guy..

Great work on the mesh gates Frans ! In my opinion you made the right decision doing some scratch work on them cos it looks a lot better than before !
Oh - and Santa Claus is on board too .

And for I liked this kit, I can officially say: I'm going to do a Dragon version of this vehicle fully upgraded with photo etch

WOW excellent so far mate make mine look like big pile of dog dodo lol but you have give some ideas if I ever do this type of vehicle again.

I'm going to try to prime the vehicle this evening.
That is if my work doesn't suck out all energie of me today. ....

A small upedate this time for i'm pretty tired from working double shift today..
So the only thing I did is put her in a nice black primer.

Here she is ready to prime



And here she has her new black coat on.









The road wheels and tracks also recieved a black primer.



And that's all I did this evening. I'm letting the primer dry for the night, and stop modeling for the day.
Don't want to ruin anything because i'm to tired..
Next time I will give her pre-shades and a panzergrey base coat.
after that a winter wash will be applied.

Looks great, thanks for the tip on the mesh, the next one I do I will sand which the mesh with some Evergreen stock.

My tracks were tight as hell, glad yours worked better. On my windshield, I washed it well, and the dipped the whole thing in Future and it made a nice shiny clear coat.

Look forward to seeing the paint scheme.

Hello fellow modellers!
I'm Rested and ready to give here a first coat of panzergrey and a winterwash!

Made a lot of photos too, I know Whappynuter would love it!

Lets start by mixing my own panzergrey.
Vallejo got the right colour panzergrey, but mine was empty so I mixed my own.
It's more a black grey on the real panzers, but I like to mix in a drop of blue.
I know normaly there isn't blue in panzergrey, but this blue (ish) will shine better trought the white winter wash i'm doing.

Normaly I paint panzers like this:


•Undercoat in black
•Paint Vallejo 70994 Dark Grey (166)
•Dry brush Vallejo 70992 Neutral Grey (160)
•Dry brush Vallejo 70990 Light Grey (155)

ENOUGH JIBBER JABBER, on with some pics

These are the coulours used

First coat of paint applied. It looks lighter on the photo then it realy is. hard to tell...



Pre-shades with flat black



Second (cloud) coat sprayed on.



All together



Now that's finished, i sprayed some future on the parts where decals are going to be, and putted the decals on.
The SS register numbers and SS tactical marks were made black by Tamiya, but I managed to take the black of and use the decals. It's the 3th SS panzercompagnie.



For the keen observers, the number on the backplate is differend for as Tamiya Did cut out the SS plates.
So I made my own plate...



Now time to winter wash!



Again, difficult to see on photo, but I airbrushed verical lines on the side, horizontal on the hood and top deck.
This I did over and over for 7 layers, keeping the areas smaller each layer. Last step was a cloud layer.





















I'm not worried about the drops of paint on the bech and interior, for as it has to be painted.
My airbrush sneezed....





So far this winter wash and this update.
I'm going to let her dry overnight and tomorrow I wil start on painting the interior, tracks and toning the white down with a wash. The winter wash will be weathered to make it worn down. The road wheels recieved a winterwash too, but I forgat to make a photo of it...

Thank you all for the great compliments, that's what making these post so much fun!

Time for weathering the white wash step 1

I painted the road wheels and rubber rims, and gave them a dark wash.
I also gave her a total winter wash from AK, but it is difficult to see on photo.
Taking photo's of white vehicles is hard to do!



Next I started to chip the white paint with the trucks original colour.
Stipple it on in an irregular fashion onto high traffic areas, around hatches, and onto edges. **AVOID the urge to simply drybrush on the basecoat as it’ll turn out faded. I found that unnecessary drybrushing is what ruins most whitewash finishes** Follow this up by taking a toothpick and making some long scratches into the whitewash. I should note that I always use acrylic paints and am not sure if such scratches will work when using enamels.




It looks a bit dark, but don't worry, it's not done just yet..



After that's done I mist on a thinned coat of white paint onto some of the scratches and chips to tie them into the finish.







I hope that was a bit visible guys, for I had a problem to get the lighting right for the photo's.

Now, that's going to dry for 24 hours, so I made a start at the interior.
First I detailed the gauges and I painted the windshield cover...



Added a drop of crystal clear on it for making glass covers




Seats painted, not weathered yet.



And this is what I got so far guys. Could not decide what photo's to post (again) so here's all of them





















Next up: A pinwash, winter streaking grime, painting the tracks, and some rust streaks.

For the stippling I use a cheap stiff children's paintbrush like the one's you can get in the one buck shops... Just with the tip in paint, and I dip it first on a piece of kitchen towel. Then randomly apply it.
For chipping paint I use a piece of dishwasher sponge. Dip it into paint, then on kitchen paper again until there is almost no paint left, than I applied it randomly.

Got to do some research for the interior.
Like there was a chain or belt where the doors would be, but i'm not sure.
I hope to get some work done this week for it's very buzzy at work.
But! Next weekend holyday for 1 whole week!
And that's going to be a modelling week....
