Thanks guys! Stand by because I'll be posting some progress later!

Right guys, here we are then. I have had a good couple of days model wise, been able to get a fair bit done. 70% of all the odds and sods have been primed, the torpedoes are all assembled and primed, and the canopy masking is about half way there. I think this is a good place to talk about my views on this kit so far, and whether i would recommend/endorse it..... This kit is a real mixed bag, it ranges from sublime to piss poor and back again. the fit of the engine cowling's and the engineering/method or assembly was really bad. It tested me to the limit and im still not happy with the results. but on the other hand the general fit of parts, quality of moulding and clear parts are very good. the instructions are not the best, simple to follow but the have several errors, and the parts pictured in the build assembly stages conflict with how they should look in the painting guide, this is not a major issue, as long as you are aware. overall so far i would recommend this kit if you can get it for 40 pounds or less, i think any more is pushing it slightly.

Okay guys, its update time again! Been a very hectic week this week, but i have managed to squeeze in some modelling. I have now painted all the first half of the odds and sods, and basically finished all the canopy masking. NEXT TIME IM BUYING THE F***ING MASK SET! lol. Anyway see what you think.

There we are then folks, I'm really pleased with how the torpedoes came out, I'm still very new to airbrushing but i feel as if i have turned a corner with it just lately, not only am i getting the results i want, but im also starting to relax and enjoy myself when im doing it. I think like most things in life, the more you do it the better it becomes! Although this is not true of canopy masking! i just hope all the effort will be worth it! anyway thanks for looking and ill see you next time!!!!!

Cheers for all the lovely comments guys! The time has finally come, ITS READY FOR PAINT!!!!!!! This is always my favourite part of any build! It seems as if it has taken an age to get to this stage, what with work and family commitments, but hopefully it will be worth it! I have also booked of next Monday and Tuesday so i can really crack on with the painting!

So here she is, all masked up and ready to rock and roll. The only things that are not assembled and painted yet are the props and undercarriage! The undercarriage assembly is very complex, and i want to take my time to get that right. ( I also cant see them being strong enough to support this beast, but we shall see)!

I have left out one of the small windows at the top of the cockpit because this can be posed in the open position, which i intend to do to add a little interest! Also ignore the horrible stains on the top of the canopy, they are just super-glue marks (GGGRRRRRRRRRR) but they will be covered by the paint, i also checked for fogging, but luckily everything seems fine!

This is only the third plane i have pre shaded, so i am still learning, but i am happy with it mostly, i think this will give a good base of colour depth to work from. Tomorrow I will be doing the underside, hopefully i will be able to have it laid down and faded by end of play.

Right guys, this is going to be a bit of a whopper, so don't say i didn't warn you!!!!!!!

I have managed to get a shed load done this weekend, despite going to Chatsworth house yesterday. (a great day out, deff recommended!) I have done all the painting now and I'm ready to clear coat tomorrow. This is the first camo i have done with my airbrush, and my first ever splinter camo. To say i am happy with the results is an understatement! I think i have used up all my beginners luck on this build!!!!

Now as i said, tomorrow i plan on glossing her, ready for decals. I usually use Vallejo varnishes, and find them excellent, but due to the size of this beast i would end up using loads! So i will be using Pledge multi surface wax for the first time! And because im a sissy i thought it prudent to test it out first, and i have to say it performed great!

Ukguyintheusa, I use the gravity fed neo, and I can't recommend it enough. It's my first airbrush so I'm by no means an expert but it seems to be a tool that you can really grow into and achieve great results with.

Thanks for getting back to me Ben with your AB details, much appreciated! I use a Pasche double acting AB with three nozzles and needles for fine, medium and large sprays, but since I've had it, the fine and mediums haven't worked, even trying to blow just thinners through with the PSI turned up high?! So, I'm not able to use the fine for pre-shading panel lines or for doing small panel areas so I don't cover all the pre-shading. It's been frustrating, so I need to get some of a higher class and quality and I'll just use the Pasche AB with th large nozzle for large surface area spraying, maybe for the gloss and matte finishing and priming.

I'll go check the prices out now for the Neo AB.

My pleasure mate.

I would add tho, however good I think the neo is, it is an entry level airbrush. Which is good for me as only started airbrushing last year. I think if you already know your way around an airbrush you may want to consider something a bit more "pro".

Neo pro's

Cheap = 40 pounds
Good/solid finish and construction.
5 year warranty
Changeable colour cups with lids as standard.
Very few pieces, not intimidating.

Con's

Needle nozzle requires a spanner (included) to dissemble.
Due to this a full strip clean can be fiddly.
Not actually an Iwata brush, just made for them.
Super fine lines are tricky due to needle size, .35. (But not impossible)

Hope that makes sense/helps.

All the decals performed beautifully, using revell decal fix. I was really surprised how well they behaved because some of them were HUGE!!!! The landing gear and wheels have weathered up lovely, but the construction steps for attaching them must have been devised by the devil himself, to say the air was blue would be an understatement!!! turning the beast over to see if they would take the weight was a very nervy moment, but so far it seems to be okay, in fact they seem very sturdy. ( touch wood).

I must say a massive thank you to Chief for supplying me with the swastika decals, I haven't used aftermarket decals before, and although they settled down beautifully they offered ZERO working time. THEY JUST WANTED TO STICK!!!! more by luck than judgement they seem to be where they should be! Thanks again Chief.

So all thats left now is weathering and adding the final bits and bobs, wish me luck!

Wow! That's a thing of beauty benc, looks fantastic! awesome paintwork, and the undercarriage looks really nice and detailed. Well done mate. Every time I see this, I get tempted to start mine, just don't know where I'd put it! Lol!

Its not long now till this GB is all done and dusted and I'm 99.9 percent certain that ill be finished in time!!!!!

I have been busy beavering away this weekend so its update time. This will probably be my last update before the reveal as i only have a few more little bits to stick on then she is done. This kit has been a right challenge for me, its much to big and much to advanced, but i am fairly happy with her. There have been a few incidents, but i will save all that for my reveal.
