FW-200 C-4 Condor - Long range bomber (Revell 1/72)

Ok, here we go again...

To fast Before...
All windows in, I normally use Kristal Klear PVA for all clear parts except...




This time i glued the bigger windows with CA gel. Two reasons, it was only possible to glue them on the sides. Was afraid they would fall out when polishing them later and masking. PVA is clear yes, but not very strong.


For small windows i just use Kristal Klear.



Speaking of clear parts...all the low cost kit manufacturers like Airfix and Revell etc, tend to have crap clear parts in 1/72.
This kit is no exception, foggy, cobwebs, scratches, thick...
Requires lots of (in my opinion) unnecessary work.
From this...

Through sanding and polishing spunges and compounds...

To all done and ok looking.


Bombs done. Dry brushed with different shades incl metal to emulate wear from handling like rolling then given a wash.
Fit was bad, ooh I did not exactly laugh sanding and re-scribing these Little suckers!



Bomb bay floor, doors and fuse door ready. Looks funny on camera so posting two pics to try and show them. (not this dark in real Life)
The "thingies" in the door I just put there to cover up pin marks that were impossible to get at. Made it look "interesting"



Canopy masked and glued on.


Dont be shy with the glue, remember it shrinks back. Make sure to get it everywhere, its easy to Clean up with a moist cotton bud.



Everything masked and ready...LOVE the Eduard die cut masks...not all have a perfect fit, but still sooooo much easier. Especially at this tiny scale.


Finally happy with all seamlines on fuse. Fit was "ok" topside, but belly side was tricky. Re-scribing also done.


Clear parts insides sprayed on the outside...

Made it! No overspray on the insides...


Prepping the Engine parts...x 4 = lots of parts, here is one wing.


Stabs and one wing glued...


All the sanding and test fitting payed off, happy with seams.




Well thats roughly where am at now. Will put in more time since its only two weeks left!!!

That landing gear looks so fragile, and the Condor isn't a little birdy, either! Did you plan on getting aftermarket replacements?

No, since I havent read anything about them breaking.
Its a build up condtruction with the load spread over many Points just as the full scale one.
Might look fragile but dont have to be.
Lets see when I get there...

Update

Other wing had a gap underside.


Just love Vallejo putty...just apply in gap.


Directly wipe with moist cotton bud, done! Simple, fast, clean.


Bomb racks on the wings, excellent fit! (not even glued in pic)


Batch no 2 of engine parts, all now done and ready for paint.


Finally, shes starting to look like a Condor!




Especially now with the bomb/MG gondola in place. Again, great fit.

Guys, pulled this one from the GB since I was a Little short on time and also lost my mojo a bit.
You know, you want to achieve a result but the poor quality of stuff produces lots of extra, tiresome work.
When you spend one session just making clear parts clear ...several sessions just cleaning massive flash from detail parts (many) , one session just fixing very poorly moulded parts ...etc...and feel the countdown klock ticking. Well you kind of loose the spirit...

Love the Condor, this baby just have to stand aside for a while as I get my mojo back with some better kits.

I was wondering where this tread disappeared too. It's such a petty you didn't get it finish for the GB deadline, I thought it was gonna be a big contender for the top prize. I find with the big bombers a short break halfway trough the build helps, I stopped my B-17 to work on my jaguar for the road GB and it help keep me sane.
I have this kit in the stash so I'm gonna be robbing some of your ideas..lol

Top contender...hehehe thanks mate, but Im just trying to learn all the new stuff and have fun!

Enjoying my 262 build now and will do another 1/48 soon. (Build thread here in prop section soon)
Well Im planning on fiddling with this one along the next build and/or other builds until its done...
Lesson learned here: Complex kits = needs to be quality or its to much pain that take away the fun and sucks your mojo dry!
(For me at least, we all have our own ambition levels)
