I see what you mean about spending so much on this build Paul!! Does look stunning mate. Puts my tigers project to shame. I haven't even had a chance to do any modelling in weeks.

Fingers crossed off on my Air Arms guns smith course next week. I intend to get my figures finished there.

Ok so I've spent a couple hours this afternoon getting one side of the side skirts on, bit fiddly and I had to reposition em a couple of times. I've added to light "damage" to a few of the panels as I will to the other side. I also repositioned the rear fenders as they were sitting little low.

Not the prettiest thing as the superglue kicker really makes the glue go white, but will look fine once primered. Just got the the bolts to stick on and this side is done.






Also my griffin models ammo boxes and belt ammo arrived, and I got an armorscale stab antenna set in amongst that job lot of stuff I got of ebay so it'll more than likely be going on this.

Paul is it just super glue you use for the PE or is it some special glue you use never used PE before but looking into it.

Any CA glue will do Nige - Really important that you get a kicker though, you'll need it

Have you brought every piece of after market you could find?

Hey Nige

Yes just normal superglue, I use toolstations stuff available in thick and thin at 99p a bottle and the top don't block like other superglues. And as lee says kicker is a must again i use toolstations.

You spray it on superglue and it cues/dries it instantly.

Being thick again where to you get it and what actually is it I'm sorry for asking daft questions because I just tend to us locktite I got some good stuff once but the tip dried up and didn't get any more.

Bit more progress tonight. I couldn't face the other side skirts tonight so got on with other bits instead.

Got the zimmeritt on around the mg mount, had to roll it with a ball bearing then glue it in position. It still needs a little more filler. I've also added some plus model wire to simulate the headlight wiring and I used some brass wire to make handles for the front and rear hatches.

Also added the towing shackles front and back, still need to add the PE to above th front fenders were they join the hull.





Rear engine grills on as well as stowage hooks.

Very nice, this is going to be a cracking model.

Your really cracking on with it.

I hope have you patience with PE someday the end result is going to look amazing!!

All that P.E. is giving me Vertigo !

Ok so the other side skirts are on now, incorporating the follow on damage from the from fender.

Great work, the zimmerit looks really effective. I kind of like the all brass look too.

I'm enjoying seeing this progress.

Ok so on with the turret today, al the kit components built together with ease.



Then a start on the turret zimmeritt.

My newly acquired rolling tool came in very handy and proved a very useful tool.







A couple of hours later its all done, including the mantlet and barrel, plus the other engine PE grills behind the turret. I have an armour scale barrel with brass muzzle somewhere buy I can't seem to find it for now.








Still need to tidy up the zimmeritt edges, blending it to the hull and turret, then ill get the tools attached.

WOW really nice, it will almost be a shame to see it covered in paint

Very cool looking with all that brass on it! I think it is such a shame to paint it later and hide all those different materials.

Its the tamiya spray stand you get a set of two different types.

Wahey I found my armorscale barrel and mantlet, tucked underneath stuff in a draw.

I think it's a marked improvement over the kits barrel (which to be fair is good) especially the textured mantlet. It's not glued in position and I still need to remove that slight seam on the mantlet.

Looking good! Just out of interest, do you fancy weighing that monster when it's done? It'd be interesting to compare with an OOB kit. Just a thought.

Yeah no problem, it has considerable weight already even without the friul tracks

Your right Han it is a lot of work.

Sorted some of the tool holders today, i prefer to paint the tools of the tank, so any that can be bracketed up of the model i will do and any that need to be glued in place before painting ive done today, basically all thats left to attach is the fire extinguisher, wire cutters, and the pry bar.

The tools had to be modified to accept the PE holders, basically i removed all the built in holders. The Pe clamps were a right pain to build and glue in position. Also got the cleaning rod/tow cable holders in place each side, they will be completed once the tank has been sprayed.

Whats needed to make one clamp, requiring 6 fold and one roll per clamp.



Shovel with new PE head and holders, as well as the sledge hammer. To the rear right you can see the PE rod/cable holders.



The axe this side again with a couple of clasps and a head cover.



Got the armorscale antenna mounts glued in position too and drilled for the antennas, as this is going to be a command tiger it'll have the three antennas with the stab antenna. Non of these are glued in position yet.




On to sorting out the Zimmerit gaps next, then ill make a start on the tracks and road wheels.
