Looks a bit like mine not too long ago. I have mine jammed into the corner of and office/guest bedroom of our apartment.
Clever use of space you've got going there. Coffee cup and all.

Wow.. everywhere I look it's Airfix Airfix Airfix. At least now I know what to look for when I spin off into aircraft. Popular stuff it seems.
Did you build the bench yourself or did you find it somewhere?
It's pretty sturdy looking. 4x4s for legs?

Buy Airfix if you like a challenge...

I think its because they are mostly old models who are not that great quality wise but are very inexpensive, might be wrong, never builded one of their models it's not really popular here in canada .

I've built 2 1/72 Airfix new-tool Spits and they were a lot of fun. So I'm going to try a few of the other new kits that have been coming out by them. That being said I prefer the offerings from the far east myself.

Yeah I've built a lot of airfix, just built the 1/72 mustang and that was great the tamiya kits are better though

Alot of the new tool Airfix kits are much better. Yeah they are still slightly "toyish" compared to the likes of Tamiya, Hasegawa etc. But the new tool kits build up very well, and have way more details than their older counterparts.

The new tool 1/48 Seafire Mk17 I am building is a complete dream, not had any fit issues at all, cracking kit.

Well im new here but thought id join in on the fun.

Looks like a decent little set up you have there.

I have just "expanded" my set up. I have a small PC desk in the living room which I use if I am working from home sometimes, or for when I am feeling more sociable, then I have a place to model in the living room. However it wasn't getting used much, so I have moved the ottoman full of the gf's shoes out from the window area, and put my desk there instead! I now have a modelling surface facing the light and window. Only thing is that the PC monitor is on my left, not that handy for if I want to model and watch a film etc at the same time....

Both of these are great spaces to work in. The natural light will make all your painting more realistic. I will have "Daylight" bulbs in all my fixtures in mine simply because of the lack of natural light.
I love the Batman in the Man Cave.

A joy to look through this thread and see some of the different set ups people have.

I hope to have a set up going soon and when I do, I will be sure to post a pic!

Yeah work in progress Though the base and buildings I picked up are Mini-art vacuum formed so that's giving me a few headaches lol.

I've tried a few of those Mini-art sets.
I will use celluclay or fimo as a backing for mini-art's vaccuforms.
I'll make a bed of celluclay or fimo add a health amount of carpenter's glue to the surface then press the vaccuform piece into it to give it support.
I'll clamp the hell out of it and let it dry for a day or two.
Then I'll trim the excess clay off the base and Poof... you have a base.

Those hollow walls however... they're a bugger.
Filler and clue is the name of the game usually.

They are a pain, but stick at it the end result is worth it.
I got well stressed building mine and very nearly ended up in the bin!

Having seen all the effort on your work stations, I decided to give mine a re shuffle.













It's not brilliant I know but I intend to get some shelves up, and get more of my paints out.

This space is perfect for our little bit of madness.

Here's my workbench



Models in progress on the shelf are: Tamiya 1/48 Stug III and Panzer II, and a 1/12 Yamaha YZR M1 2004 (frame and engine). Off to the left is an Italeri 1/35 Panzerwerfer.

Building the little Panzer II reminded me that I had one of these from the 1970's in 1/35 - so I dug that out and you can see it on the right after priming and first pre-shaded coat of desert yellow.

Oh and there's my Group Build entry in it's box on the right - the Tamiya 1/48 Panzer III.

Sooo, my man cave has been transformed into an actual cave tonight as my gf is off to bed, but I am still up modelling. And my desk light was annoying her, so she closed the curtains around me...selfish git!

So the flooring fellas were by today and installed my floors, and the ceiling was delivered and is in my garage to be installed with the baseboards this weekend.
Maybe next week I'll be able to set up shop!





And of course the applicable warnings for safety!

I plan to sucker my buddy the carpenter into building a few display shelves for me when he's here doing the baseboards.

Some very cool ideas all the way from nice and simple to purpose built rooms and everything in between.

So, we've got some baseboards and the ceiling started.
The really cool bit is the selves that he's knocked together for display.

Here's a few shots... excuse the mess.

some really impressive work areas, just wished mine looked somewhat cleanish (everyone uses my desk including the cat atm have to partition off a part of the garage in the near future and move all my stuff out there - anyways here it is as it stands atm - will get cleaned up before I start the next build

Just ordered a pair or 800x1800 desks to be delivered tomorrow.
Step 3 of the workbench redisign done
Pity step 1 move the wifes sewing stuff out and step 2 clear my desks have not been done

Desks have arrived so i thought id post what im working with.
I have been super happy with it for the last couple of years but im now finding myself working on bigger projects with lighting etc.
Im also often working on more than 1 kit at a time and there is just enough room.

But the biggest reason is that i wanted something more ergonomic as i was getting a sore neck hunching over to the low workspace.
I have a new lower kneeling chair and the new desk will be propped up for comfort and to allow more storage underneath.

Overview of "The Cave" that houses my models, collectables and computers and the wifes sewing, crafting space.


Display cabinet i picked up cheap, was originally designed for sunglasses and watches so is well lit and houses random collectables, 'shelf queens' for now.
And some little drawers with things like scribers, saws, batteries, cutters etc


The bench, which as you can see is kinda cramped. Currently working on 'streetbiking' a Yamaha VMax


And on my right are more paints, spare parts, larger drawers for electronics, diorama stuff, weathering etc.
My portable (not anymore) spraybooth with cleaners etc underneath along with rattle cans.
Out of shot are my Zero Paints, Gloves, aribrush stuff, spare paints etc and the compressor.

Cram sums it up pretty well.
They are generic nail polish racks. About a dozen per row and 5 rows per rack
Then they got put on an old in/out tray to maximise space.

Excellent use, or reuse, of materials. As any self respecting modeller should be.
