Thanks Martin. The goggles are essential wear and I highly recommend the Optivisor brand, they are a tad dear though!

WOW!! :eeek:
Looking sweet Rob, and yeah I too need some Goggles / optivisor things as I seem to favour the smaller scale at the moment..
As other's have mentioned, the colour modulation and weathering / detailing is superb....
Well done buddy, take care, stay well..... Happy Modelling.. :th:
:cheers2:

Part 5 - The Crew

I have taken the !/72 Tiger Aces crew from the recently issued Dragon Tiger 1 Late kit. The tank in that set is a bit of a disappointment and, bizarrely, it cannot be used to pose all of the provided figures. However, they do sit rather nicely on the tank I am currently building.

The figures are direct copies of a Dragon 1/35 set of the same name and have been newly tooled in the smaller scale and they are first class models. They are cracking little figures.

The box in which the figures come...

The figure sprue...

As previously posted, here they are built and primed...

And here they are pretty much ready for action. The only figure I am not sure about is the man in the leather jacket. He is fine for the time being but I think eventually he may end up going back to the Tiger Late when that is built.

All figures are 'out of the box' apart from the leather jacket guy who has had cables added to his headset. Five little Panzer guys...

Next up (next week probably) will see the tank near to completion

Thanks for stopping by :th:

Hey, one mans pitted rust mark is another mans bullet hole!! (oo-err!!)

Those figures are sublime Rob - the detail you get on your figures is astonishing. I can't paint medals on 1/35 figures let alone 1/72.

I do feel as though I should be paying to look at your work though. I can see it now - Manet, Modigliani, Freud, Mr Bob's builds - I know which one I would rather look at!  : :

Part 6 - Pigments and Tracks On

Just about there now.

First up were dust coloured paints (Lifecolor and Com Art) lightly applied to the lower part of the turret and main hull sides and running gear.

Image

This was followed by the application of pigments to give dirt and, on the barrel end and exhausts, smoke effects.

I got in a bit of a clumsy mess with the tracks and, in wrestling them on, managed to muck up their repainted surfaces and it took a fair bit of work to get them back to the state illustrated in the photos. They will do for now but I will do better next time!

That’s just about it for now - the next post will see this one in the gallery.

Thank you for looking

Rob!!! You're an armourer!!
And a damn fine one too!!
Holy hell that finish is wonderful! Right out of the photos bud. It's prefect. It's too bad about the tracks, but if you don't have some grief with a build it's a bit boring.
Damn that's a fine piece. Complete scale deception too. Well done!

Hi Rob,

Having watched your inspiring tiger videos, my late tiger production kit finally came in. Like you said.... WTF
I was expecting this though as I saw your impressions, but wow what a shocker of a difference to see it for myself. The Initial tiger1 (2010 kit) is 10x the kit of the new 2013 Late Tiger.

Heck look even how it's packaged- everything tossed in one bag and unsprued
*limited photoetch,
*everything already put together on the hull,
*no hatch openings,
*wtf guidebook and like you said, it looks like a wrong kit in some steps haha.

Oh well, still a zimmerit Tiger and great figures. Good for warming up before the real deal with the Early Prod. Can't wait to dig in
