Thanks Mark! Can't wait to see yours - learned a lot from your build in the early stages

Thanks. It looked so empty and long-legged without anything dangling underneath.... hehe

Thank you! I'm still finding my way into airbrushing. Couple of small things I'm not completely happy with - but all the descriptions here in the forum and the youtube channel really helped me get an idea of how it can be done properly. Can't wait for christmas and the new airbrush setup I asked Santa for ;)

Hello and welcome everyone to the final update as my Phantom build is finally complete!

Eduard F-4B Build, Update 9

The last thing to do was to finish up the cockpit. First: removing the canopy masks. Worked fairly well. To make sure I don't peel off any paint when removing the masks, I run a sharp blade along the outlines of the masking before removing it.

Unfortunately, the middle canopy piece came off when removing the front and rear ones

Image

But since it was only glued in with a small amount of PVA, no real damage was done. But you can see that the masking peeled off a little bit of paint on the photo etched pieces along the top of the cockpit tub. I'll brush over that after finishing the canopy pieces.

Next: installing the seats I made a while ago. As you can see, my storage solution wasn't the best, bending the ejection handle on top of the seat

Image

Took a little CA and lots of patience with tweezers and toothpicks to get it back into the right shape, but it worked out well and the seats slid into the tub:

Still quite a bit of PE to go in around the various canopy pieces. And I think they give a really really nice touch of detail to an area that is usually a little overlooked. Giving a little structure to the otherwise smooth and flat ends of the canopy pieces.

The hatches even get rear view mirrors!

Plus all the struts and hooks that close the canopy on the real plane:

After putting in their hydraulic pistons, they fit in place rather nicely. At first I thought the opening angle was a bit steep, but google images assured me that it is correct that way

And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes the description of me building the Eduard F-4B Phantom II Good Morning Da Nang kit. Massive project that I massively enjoyed even though I am rather happy to not have to worry about finishing in time anymore. Hope you guys enjoyed following me tackle some problems and racing through effortless parts. The positive feedback I received from was what kept me coming back to it whenever I could find some time.

So... here she is. You'll find this and more pictures in the reveal thread :)

That looks amazing. I have a couple F-4's in the kitty and am chomping at the bit to get started after seeing all the builds here in the forum.
On the bench: I don't have a bench right now :violin:

I'm not a complete idiot! I have pieces missing.
