They texture it a bit with a brush...not a full stamped but some surface texture for grip

Finally getting to what this thread was started for....A Hobby Space!!!
Saturday....day to attack the model studio, well maybe afternoon after I do my honey do list

Room is a 12x10 rectangle with two windows

Plan is a U-shape bench outlines with variable heights for a tired old back and neck
Use my existing work table on one wall and get two of these from Home Depot

Some base cabinets with drawers for tools

And some some door cabinets for storage

Get the airbrush extractor from the group buy forming on ISM and then I have pretty much spent my budget..been saving for the last four years or so.
After that I can make more simple stuff.....paint racks, display shelf above window surrounds that kind of thing

So that is the plan, but more moving work to be done this morning backyard plants to move

Then I can pick away at setting up the room

Holy schwack am I ever tired.
Afternoon of moving two big loads of plants including cement planters and a cement birdbath....had to bail on digging out the Japanese maple
Turned attention to assembling one half of the room after dinner.
So moved that side's junk out and got a workbench and two cabinets assembled.

I am done for the day

Ha ha, yes you totally nailed me there

Rum and Coke before dinner and then wifey made a lime/ginger beer/vodka concoction that went down real smooth after dinner

maybe swap out the vodka for some bundaberg rum

it may not be the best medication for "sore old muscles", but after 1/2 dozen..... who really cares

I know a dentist there, though have not talked in years
My patient Friday, nice old Aussie guy, mentioned his friends were moving to Bundaberg to get away from the Salties
Now you mention the Bundaberg rum....there is a big distillery there, I believe
Maybe I am going to Australia soon....or had too much rum, likely that last one, yes

yes there is the bundaberg distillery is in bundaberg, Ive never been there.I used to hate rum, the mere smell it would turn my stomach, then I joined the military and they bought out bundaberg rum and coke on tap......... the rest is as they say history

Shifting things around. I got the second drawer cabinet built up now

Plan is to take the second New bench and make it form a L shape with the first on, though slightly shorter
Then the airbrush station sits on this cabinet centred on the window

Sorry there is so much junk around them, wife giving me trouble for "wasting time" cleaning up my spaces when there is other stuff (i.e. her stuff) to do. Nope was my turn

I really like the taller bench height. That black chair is an architecture chair and does not go down far enough to sit comfortable at the old wide wood table...so out that goes and the two taller benches will stay

Hi Scott

You are doing a great job on your hobby (house) space. I have been following and drooling as I watched your progress.

Your latest pictures reminded me of when I built my workspace 8 years ago.

I love the higher desk bench height I can sit or stand to work whenever I choose. I ended up buying an Arch chair that can accommodate me and my thighs from a 27" bottom bench height to a 36" bottom bench height.

That sir is a sweet set up!!
You went the Gladiator route from Lowe's and I did the Husky from Home Depot. I like yours with the rolling casters, may have to retro fit my cabinets like that.
I am so glad to hear someone else likes working with the higher benches...my back is killing me at the current height model desk
Going to do the same in the wood workshop, maybe even have a height adjustable main bench via a scissor jack and a crank

An Evening's work put the second bench together and reshuffle things for fitment. This bench is 33" tall

The L shape situated in the only orientation that will fit across the room....due to base board heater

The higher bench at 36" tall

Maybe the airbrush cabinet with spray booth on top???

I am sure I will move some more things around. Have to think about good lighting too.

I sat at the tall desk last night a did a little modelling work.
The height is very good, but I need my tools more organized within better reach so I am not up and down out of the chair. I am sure that will take a while sorting everything into place.
So far so good with a tall bench though

Ya, the best thing is to just start using it and then move things as you go. I find that planning can only go so far before you just end up being unable to decide where things should go.

Like Lysus said the only way to get settled is to get stuck in and start making it your home so you know what you'll need close to hand and what can be tucked away until you need it. At which point you'll forget you had it and go and buy a new one... or is that just me?

800 pounds of cabinet boxes arrived on my curb this afternoon.
We wrastled them across ice and gravel to the workshop and garage to store until I can get enough room to install things

Nice blue fronts will look great with the floor. The two big cabinets I put in the garage to store are even nicer!

This upper has an pneumatic lifting door

Got a photo of the cabinets in the garage

And now I am tired and OCD'ing over all the unorganized mess
God I have a lot of work to do

That is a very nice and 'only in my dreams' workspace !I live in a smalll 3 Divisions apartment and the smallest room is my workspace

Congrats on your achievment , lots of work I imagine (and see it in your thread ), but just great !
