Ohhhhh sweet Neil! Man that bird has always been awesome!! Not to brag in a way, but my wife used to help make the covers (reminded me of that looking at your eagle one) for the rear engines and seats for the F-15's here in Mass.

However, the oldest piece of currently serving military hardware to my knowledge is the USS Constitution. It is still in active service, even with it originally being launched in 1797. I've also heard that it's the only currently serving US Navy vessel to have sunk another ship.

Love that boat! Very close to me as well in Boston. I even have old ironsides in mt stash.

With the B52, is it not a case similar to Trigger's broom in Only Fools and Horses?

He wins an award for taking care of his broom for 20 years (or something) and in that time he's put 5 new heads and 9 new handles on it.

How much of a current airworthy BUFF is what rolled out of the factory back in the day? I'm not an engineer so this is a genuine question, not an opinion.

Perhaps my memory is off and it just rammed an island, cant remember.

I would imagine you are right either way. I cant think of any ship to ship combat since WW2, I don't think there was any during Korea or Vietnam. The one exception is the Belgrano sunk by HMS Conqueror during the Falklands War but the sub was retired in 1990.

I agree, I think the Victor is better but not as fast, I really like the jets of the 50's, 60's & 70's. What I find amazing is just now many are still flying operationally, B52, F4's 15 16, Tornado, Harrier (AV8) to name but a few.

The sig will start May 1 and run to Aug 31 so plenty of time still
If you haven’t registered yet, just pop a note in here that you want to, I give you an Captain # and your good to go
Unstarted kit, has to have bomb bay doors, bribes to the organizer fully accepted...wait what????

I've got so many bombers that my choice may change by the start date but this is what I think I'll try. Not this night version - there are markings for a National Guard plane I'll use. It looks a bit difficult but has a nice resin cockpit set included.

There were some beautiful WW1 bombers back then as well as I peruse the the world wide web this mornin.

The Mannesmann Poll (note: May have been a bomber!)

The Mannesmann Poll was a German giant three-decker designed by Poll Mannesmann for Siemens-Schuckert during the First World War. A previous unit of this factory, the Siemens-Schuckert R VIII , is known as the largest aircraft produced during the First World War. It was 21.7 meters long, 7.4 meters high and had a wingspan of up to 48 meters with a wing surface of 440m².

Purpose of the device
Opinions are divided on the purpose of this aircraft. Some sources believe that the aircraft was a bomber, while other sources stated that the aircraft was designed for transporting troops. Still other sources think it was meant to bring leaflets across the Atlantic and drop them at New York City.

What remained
Remains today: One wheel and a piece of the hull are in the warehouses of the Imperial War Museum in London.

Did you guys know the Wingnuts company is owned by Peter Jackson? He actually owns some 1:1 scale WW1 planes and flys them regularly down in New Zealand. Just a cool bit of info!

Finally decided on my build. Had a beautiful drive up to Breedon this morning and Mike, the owner, didn't disappoint. Along with the new Abrams M1A1 from Rye Field Models I got my Bomber SIG build sorted.

Is it possible to find anything more iconic than a Lanc?

How about a Dambuster?

Based on the 2012 new tool. Should be a beauty.
