Very very nice work area Mate. Any chance of getting your dimensions that youve used to make your paint racks ? Im in the process of looking at different options right now of making several paint racks. I have a version that I like Ive found on You Tube out of foam board which I think will work fine for the vallejo, Humbrol, testors and possibly Model masters but definitely not for Tamiya. Absolutely incredible!! I also 'only' have one work table, but it definitely doesn't look as amazing as your area!
That stash is incredible! You have more inventory than my LHS!
Great stuff man! Everytime I see a cave like this one, Lee's, Paul's, Cohen's and so many more, it makes me even more hesitant to put mine up

thank you guys! to answer the questions:

i used pine wood. the wood is about 1 cm thick, 5,5 cm deep and i used little screws to connect the elements! it is too big for vallejo bottles and that is good because i can store bigger bottles and cans! it is a very solid construction.

it took a while to build up the stash, there are a lot of rare dragon kits in it for example the sold out tiger and panther kits! and yes the flecktarn on the wall is very nice! it remembers me about my isaf tour in afghanistan! cheers and have a nice weekend!

I love this thread so many cool workstations.

I moved mine around a few weeks ago, i felt having my gun and weapon collection behind me in the news shows didn't look great so i moved most of it out of the cave and replaced it with most of my built model collection. I also added the fish tank too, adds some interest and is nice to look at.

As someone pointed out on Facebook (not you schoof someone else) the cctv camera is not just on the door of the cave its a 4 camera cctv system thats fed to a HDR in the house and rotates around the 4 cameras, i have a feed of that in the cave and it just happened to be on that camera when i took the pic.

No weapons here now just models

The few i left in here are now up here

Moved some other stuff out and put some other stuff back up top here

And the aquarium as it stands now fully "planted" with the rare plasticus plantus (latin name) plants

epic work area! i love the fish tank! i love my man cave but i'm not able to spend as much time as i want in it because of the job and family and sharing time with my wife but i guess every modeller knows that! one good thing about our hobby is that you can simple pause working and move on later! so it doesn't matter if you can't do modelling stuff for a few days or weeks! and you're right paul Ultimate products are missing in my cave

i haven't had the chance to get some of them but i think i will order the sanding sticks and an ism sticker soon

btw paul do you know where i can get a ruler with cm / meter and their conversion in 1:35 scale? i haven't found something like that in german stores!

Yeah i got one from emodels a while ago its an expo tools one, can't find it listed on their site now though, maybe drop them an email.

Damn Paul....... How did you get inside my dreams and build them?? HAHAHA Seriously bud, I would love to have something like that someday. You red coats know how to build a modeling room. So many of you guys over there in the UK have awesome rooms. But Im in the same boat as Andre. Between 60-70/Hr work weeks, my better half, two dogs, and extended family I don't quite put in the hours I want to in the shop. Although..... its colder than hell and we are expecting 6-8 inches of snow here in Pennsylvania today so I will have my little foot heater cranking and I plan on being at the bench all day!

Finally figured it out guys. Here are a few photos of my "man cave". It shares my love of modeling with my love of firearms. By far my favorite room in the house. I also have a lot of knick-knacks from my traveling while I was in the Navy. By far my favorite place in the house.

The launcher is an AT4 launcher "bazooka". They are a one and done weapon so after the round is expended the tube is worthless so after the range one day that tube found its way to my trunk

and I figured it would make a sweet display piece. The shotgun is a standard Mossberg 500 12guage. I have it prepped for a duracoat color that I will put on once the weather warms up a bit. I loved visiting the UK while I was in the service but I couldn't imagine not being able to own pretty much any kind of firearm I wanted and keep it in my house at my disposal. Although I have had some Aussie friends up here in the states and they about s*&t when I showed them my gun collection. Thanks for the comments and yes...... Being clean while I build is the only way for me. I would go NUTS with clutter everywhere!!!!!

Nice, we can own a few firearms, just not pistols, smb and assault rifles, so all the fun stuff really lol

Nice set up though, I have around the same amount of space, possibly a little less and I am well out of room! Can't wait to move out of here. First thing on my list is a big assed corner desk from Ikea. Had one before and it was awesome. Plenty space for modelling, PC etc on there.

Me and Mrs B are moving to a new place very shortly, which has an office that is perfect for a modelling/man cave, so I have claimed it already

I have been away from modelling for a LONG time, but have the bug again, so once we are in I will be filling it with all sorts of man stuff, which will please Mrs B no end

Once it is up and running I will post some pics.

Here is where i do my basic construction it is in our family room, it suits me as i am near the missus, near the computer, etc Spitfire and Hampden since finished and are elsewhere on this site

the drawers have all my tools in

I do all my airbrushing in the garage on the desk in left of pic , i have a display case for overflow from inside house for my 1/48 builds, and my old case with 1/72 stuff done years ago

The garage stays within reasonable temperature most of the year and i have a small fan heater for when it gets chilly, but i dont spend a lot of time there in winter, garage is where we hold our monthly model meetings which i can post some pics of if anyone is interested

Thought I'd better show where I started my modelling and where I will hopefully be doing my modelling.

This is in the garage, everything is packed away and ready to go up the loft when it gets done, on the shelf is a reminder to me that I must finish my models..lol, the tamiya sky raider was nearly finished but my daughter decided to take it into to class one day for a "show and tell" and one of her friends put her school bag on it, destroying the landing gear....lol, gotta love kids.

And this is where I hopefully will be doing my modelling soon in the loft when it get all walled up and nice and cosy

Hello guys! I thought it was time to show you my "Project: Man Cave". I live in a two room flat with my wife and infant so finding the space was a bit tricky. Until now I have been modelling on the kitchen table but as you will be able to tell from the pics below, the mess is getting out of control! So I decided that the closet would be my best bet.

Thing is thou, it's kinda cramped and I now stand before the quite impossible equation of solving 1+1=1. I will let the pictures talk for themselves and you tell me what you think

Notice the all-powerful baby monitor in the front of the desk!

Well, after getting "audited" by the minister for finance about the amount of money I was spending on modelling (been doing this for about a month or so, buying bits and drabs and things, collecting tools, kits, paints etc), she told me to stop stuffing around and just buy everything I need....and build the kits I already have (about 30 in the stash so far...)

So couple hundred bucks later on Ebay, and spending a quiet Sunday building a new set of shelves and workspace (plus I'll build myself a spraybooth soon), my "Man Cave" (actually my office and gym and now, modelling room combined), will be looking a bit better shortly!

Here are some pictures of where I'm at the moment, excuse the iPhone 3 camera (its an original! I hate mobiles, this one is almost never on!)

This is a spare built in desk at the corner of my office, I built the white shelf unit over the weekend (in between building new compost bins for the wife).

I've started with Lifecolor paints, getting the hang of them, but started to get some Tamiya as well

I picked up the little bookshelf for $10 nearby, has my 1st 3 kits on it:

Heres a closeup of the shelf unit, thats a 1/32 Revell Messerschmitt 109 taped up for inspiration on top:

Bought a new lamp and a bundle of other tools today, they'll fill the shelf up.

Need to build a better spraybooth next - I have a very large window to the right that I open up when airbrushing, will fab up something and chuck on exhaust fan on the back whenever I get some spare time...

Out of shot is my gym and standing desk for work and another L-shaped desk for chart analysis - I spend over half the day here in my "man-cave", but am banned from being anywhere near here during the weekend!
