Oops, forgot about this lot. Could be classed as the 'runt' of the litter, apart from the mustang and the little 1/48 pitts S2.

Lol, 'runt' might have been a bit harsh. They're quite old kit's scott and compared to the later stuff, they just seem a bit by they're use by date or something

The harrier and 109 will get built at some point but the jury's out on the other's.

I believe these are from the old airfix mold's. I remember getting the airfix one at the railway museum in the early 80's. I've a feeling i'll need to buy a 'family' size tin of filler for this one !

I don't think I've ever posted mine, and since I just did some rearranging and got them all into one part of the room...

Left to right:

Bottom right are the WIPs (please excuse the old Gundam kits, they were built when I was a teenager, last century. They're all that survived out of the 30 I think I did, so their dusty, damaged hulls get to be on the shelf with pride until I get around to fixing/reconditioning them.)

Those shelves were all books 8 months ago.

Heres my stash. The 1/144 Migs and F4 will most likely be thrown out along with a few revell car models I have no desire to build.

Very slowly building everything, trying to build what I have before I buy more. It isnt working!

So finally managed to upload a pic to share here....

Not as expansive as some, but more than I realised until I got them all in the same place! Mostly made up of Academy kits, as they were until recently, the most readily available out here. Whats not included in the pic is an Academy 1/48 Mig 29 Fulcrum, and a Matchbox 1/72 Canberra which are both 'on the bench'. Also awaiting the arrival of some buys from eBay which I purchased this week, which includes a Tamiya 1/72 Tornado F3, Tamiya 1/72 Phantom F4G, and a Sword 1/72 Fairey Gannet AEW (a model I've been after since before time itself began!

)..... So here's my stash....

I am amazed at how many kits some of you guys have and when will you get time to build them or are you saving them as an investment.

I can't speak for others, but for me here's how it works:

1) I'm inspired to do something but my bench is full. I buy the kit and it gets into my queue.

2) I'm trawling eBay for one thing but spot a deal on another--one that doesn't pop up often so I buy the kit while I can.

3) Some manufacturers release kits in batches or limited runs and if you don't grab it now, even if you won't be building it soon, it will cost twice as much or more when you're ready.

Thus buildeth the stash.

Oh yeah, I forgot that one
I started on ISM looking at Paul's workspace, paint stores and model stash and thought "phtt I will never do THAT"
Now house has a workshop and a model room in its design and stash is pushing 200.
It is easier to buy kits and stuff than actually model

I suppose I'm suburban as well, just hard to admit it after 20 years living downtown. If there isn't a constant hum of people and sirens it feels...remote.

I am expecting my favorite thread here to be bristling with photos of all the goodies added to stashes over Christmas 2016
I am dying to move my model kits back from the office into the house to have a stash all in one place so I don't accidentally re-purchase something....because you know I would NEVER do something silly like that by say oh I don't know, bidding on E Bay for something I already have. Thanks god I got outbid and had the good sense to check.

Up high on a shelf and very little. We each have our own hobbies and so far we have kept a respectful distance from any sort of criticism. Then again I've never spent the mortgage money on anything so it's all been from my own pile of cash.

I also need new socks, but that won't happen so long as there's a kit I need

She says a lot spasmodically, kind of boils up in her. So I have filled half a built in robe that's not being used. However I have not let that limit me....

...and have hidden the rest on top of robes, under drawers that sort of thing. Basically anywhere there is a hidden space. I probably have about 60 kits hidden like that. What she doesn't know won't hurt her sense of balance in the her world ...nor me !! Although I have now exhausted that avenue and might have to put up a storage shelf in my space. I really need one of the spare bedrooms, but SWMBO isn't budging as she has designs on that room herself. I might have to come up with a cunning plan..

...perhaps subtlety start to decorate the house with finished models....

..well I have nowhere else to put them...

Went for a trip out to the raaf museum today... to show the step son (secretly just to go drool at the F4E they have on display)

we end up at the lhs....

A tad more wandering about and I approach the counter to find SWMBO deep in discussion with the staff and me being bluntly told to go away

Find the better half hiding outside with a large plastic bag

Low and behold she has seen me eyeing a model off and has gone and secretly bought it for me

I am now the proud owner of

A gentle start to ISM, and such a full and long running thread!

The location of my stash is the attic, my wife doesn't like climbing the attic ladder/stairs!

It is my retirement stash, and as I have read on many forum posts about " your stash",
it is for when I can not afford to buy kits due to an impoverished retirement,
but I think I will need to be building for 200 years to finish them all!

More figures than anything else, but that is my first choice with my hobby, figures make the difference and add a reality to a build,
One day I might actually finish a 2nd kit, having only finished one in the past 5 years!!
