Had a similar run in with a pirate a couple of years back, delayed shipment and then decided that he didn't have the product after all. Fortunately I was able to get the money refunded pretty quickly but it's a pain in the butt we could all do without.

Great to see that the house is progressing again Scott - love that view from the outside. It must feel great to come home to that when you've been away.

Don't be too hard on yourself he seems to have 98% positive feed back, but still a lot of bad ones for only a month. I probably would have bought from him as well.

Got the stone steps in place and all the gravel levelled. This was all soil before right up to the garage foundation and stucco


Then for some fun. I whipped this beast out of the garage.
I had made it up from an old dental grinder to become a disk sander. Home made power tools...dangerous as hell!!!


I had saved some cedar from the house demolition to make tool holders for my workbench. When I was stabilizing the fence, the cut offs of the 4x4 Douglass fir looked like perfect cubes. So I made thee different sizes and they will become brush holders. You can see my existing cedar tool holder in the background of the first pic below



Was good to be outside woodworking and making stuff for the model bench

Yes 220V power to run to the garden area for power to a hot tub.
I asked the question about power during frame stage and got bad advice, so they will punch a line into my garage and then power goes all way to the garden.

Have to decide about the landscaper as he won't do stuff until August!!!

Hmm...you are twice as deep as us. Our Code is 18 inches. It is a metal cased conduit as well.
I really like the idea of bricks on top, might just do that for the next section.
I should map all those tricky little bits to the house out so I don't forget what is where

steel casing is different...definitely can't put a shovel through that. I thought it looked like heavy plastic.

Wouldn't want to do anything to endanger the venomous snakes, venomous spiders, venomous insects, sharks, crocs, or the world's only venomous mammal. You have to take care of all that delicate wildlife.

Scott you want to take a look at the trapdoor spiders...found in your trench the next morning . They are a menacing little buggers and they look like the tank of the spider world, especially when they have all their legs retracted in....very heavy duty. Get the jet black ones where I am. Wolf spiders are quick little blighters...if you miss them with the first swipe, jump back quick cause they very jumpy
My Scottie has alerted me to 2 small snakes out the front in the last 5 days. Little bugger tries to bite them, big ones he's happy to chase and bark at.
The sharks have been taking a few bites in recent times, Must be due to lose another tourist to the crocks.
BUT we don't have bears...phew !

Vacuum's are great the bigger the spider the more satisfying the thumb as he goes up the hose and they never seem to find their way out again.

Nice chart Lysus... Those TAIPANS give me the creeps. If you upset them they will circle around and hunt you and snakes can be hard to see....nasty buggers !

The garage got cleaned out and somewhat organized over the last two weekends.
Came to the realization that we need the old garden shed for tools and garden junk...and give more space for car stuff in garage

I love the metal roll up door as it leaves entire ceiling open and no door lurking over your head.
I have set off the alarm to the garage twice and house alarm twice.....will get use to that But the security systems are pretty cool, just no sharks with fricking lasers

I think you need to extend the garage forward by at least a car length if your looking for a new project OR go under ground.

Glad I am at work so I don't have to watch it all unfold. A bit messy, but all good in the long run

Yeah love to have a go.... I did drive a 25t excavator from one site to the next for about 2km..shook like crazy when the tracks weren't in tune. The driver wanted a break for a while. It was good fun !!

Hows the petunia bed and that Rhododendron coming along and have ya added a bobcat to the must have gardening tools. You have such marvelous looking trees all around. Looks nice.

Oh I have been pretty negligent with photos....I will upload some pics.
They did final (almost) electrical yesterday and we have driveway sconces and stair tread lights..looks really cool. I will do a photo tonight.

The rhododendrons seem to be ok so far...if it works out this will be a great back yard

I didn't think you would have to retic the garden with the way the vegetation looks. I assumed incorrectly I guess that it rained quiet regular until the snows come.

We don't get much snow in winter, usually stays up in the mountains and only lasts maybe a day or two then back to wet
Last winter was unusually cold and snowy for longer periods
It rains tons, but when we move trees apparently summer shows up early for two weeks so I had to keep the tree leaves moist and the soil watered. Today back to normal and pouring all day.

I think Australia saw a big housing boom like this in 1996/97 when Hong Kong was turning back over to China...big efflux of money

Yes your right a housing bubble developed and was still in full swing until recently, but it was mainly concentrated in Melbourne and Sydney. It is all stating to look a little shaky now. New investor loans have dropped right off as well as new homes albeit at a slower pace, but the trend is down and I think this may be just the being of those two markets coming back to the long term average.
The USA is selling off our banks in the stock market and the locals are having the same feelings. A large share of our banks business is mortgage loans.
The country is also facing a large drought so agricultural income will be down...hurts the banks short term. Jobs will be affected unless mining saves us again.

The man dog team got rid of another feral cat yesterday and the missus was having second thoughts on how lovable our dog ...Hamish ...scottish terrier. Actually was he gets really a large dose of battle lust !

Monday day off was partly spent installing two shelving units into the closet in The Nerd Lab






I re painted the walls just to refresh up all the dings and bumps seven months have created
There is so much room, I may have to buy more kits
This is a tiny part of my stash, only scratches the surface
