What's hiding in your stash ?

A gentle start to ISM, and such a full and long running thread!

The location of my stash is the attic, my wife doesn't like climbing the attic ladder/stairs!

It is my retirement stash, and as I have read on many forum posts about " your stash",
it is for when I can not afford to buy kits due to an impoverished retirement,
but I think I will need to be building for 200 years to finish them all!

More figures than anything else, but that is my first choice with my hobby, figures make the difference and add a reality to a build,
One day I might actually finish a 2nd kit, having only finished one in the past 5 years!!

very nice, It's exactly what I need. Cant' use the roof space though. TOO hot the plastic would droop badly.

The 934 is completely Unstarted. All parts are still sealed in their original bags. Picked it up for $20 at a Porsche swap meet! Don't think I'll ever get a better deal than I did on that kit!

My goodness ! It's worth at least ten times that ! I bought mine from the LHS in 2009 for £130. You did really well !

I will say it even trumps my PG Wing Zero as far as intimidation factor. Will definitely get a lot of kits under my belt before I tackle it for sure. I just wish the aftermarket for it was still available.

Yeah, i pull it out the pile with the intention of starting it sometimes. I'm sure it has some PE in the kit ? I think it was discontinued quite quickly but i've never really looked at AM stuff for it.

Mine doesn't, but according to scalemates they made a version that came with a single fret of PE. Odd, on my model, the decal sheet says "1997." I'm guessing they did a rerun of it at some point?

Your right, this is a re-release dated 2008. The actual kit must be the same as your's as the sprue's are marked 1997. The PE fret's pt no is 9401371 if it's of any help to you.
I would say your $20 investment was a good one as an original kit should be worth more !

Yeah, i dont have the blister packs. The tyres and brake ducting are just in plastic bags.
You will build it though ? My next car build will be the Enzo but after that the 934 is a possability !

Haha, well...right now I'm in the middle of a Bandai Perfect grade Evangelion, then I will be entering the Stuka GB with a Tamiya 1/48. I think this will probably be pretty low on the list. I plan on taking part in the warring weather and feline fever GBs, but also want to get some more aircraft, and try to build my 1199 Panigale...so much to do!!! I'll get to it eventually tho. Looking at possibly doing a different scheme if a decal set is available. Always preferred the Martini Scheme over the Jaegermeister scheme.

I want the 1/32 mustang soooooooooooooo bad (they have both variants)...I see it every time I am in my LHS...they also have the 1/32 Tamiya Mosquito, and the 1/32 HK B-17 plus everything else you could possibly imagine...

I would say the mustang is on a par with the corsair and spitfire kit wise, the zero is a smaller kit but it is the cheapest of the four. I'm just finishing off the mosqito as we speak, i should have the final pics up soon.

I remember looking at your build thread! First thing I thought when looking at the progress pictures was "damn that guy can mask like a pro!" Looks awesome and I'm jealous that you have that kit!

i remember the fire extinguisher being tough to mask because of it's size. The amount of masking i would do in the R/C side of the hobby has crossed over well for me.
I will get another mosquito kit this coming year as i would like to have a go at the bare wood and ali finish that john did so beautifully with his kit just recently

I do most aspects of R/C apart from boats. I dont have the parkzone stuff, the closest to it are e-flight's bind'n'fly models but it's a hoot when the weather's good i'm sure you'll agree, not so much when it's really windy lol.

I wonder if it's worth having a thread on R/C as there seens to be a few of us on here now. Nothing to intense or in depth. I know the weathering skills i've picked up on here will cross over to the larger models quite well so it may be of some interest ?

Ah, cool

the U.S. have always produced beautifull aircraft. I'm fortunate enough to have a turbine powered F-16 in thunderbird's colour scheme at the moment. The only other american aircraft i have (not counting the bell long ranger) is a pitts S1S but the aircraft it"s modeled on is based here in the UK 'G-FLIK'

I've always had a soft spot for the mustang, such an elegant lookimg aircraft. Your hanger 9 one will be lovely to fly ?

To be honest it's only flown once, and it was by my friend. I was very inexperienced at the time.

A buddy of mine has a twin turbine A-10 that is pretty nice. Some of the guys I work with compete in national/international FAI Pattern so they taught me how to fly.

You work with more than one person that fly's R/C ? In over 30yrs of working i've only ever came across one other person that was a modeler and that was just recently !
I flew in FAI at national level (never quite made it to the world championships) with the rotary wing things in the mid 90's. These were my FAI machines at the time, 1994 i think.

Awesome! Google Andrew Jesky. He is one of my co workers that took the lost time out of his schedule to teach me to fly. He is sponsored by Futaba and also align, but he mostly does fixed wing stuff. It's always great to watch these guys fly.

Yeah, unless you have huge dissposible income, then sponsership is almost a must to be competative i'm afraid. I'll google his name

curtis youngblood was the top american of the pile when i was involved. Things have moved on so much in those years. I probably wouldnt recognise any names now.

A quick shot of the stash. Most of the stock car racing models came from my wife's uncle. He collected them in the 80's and 90's and didn't want to take them with him on a move. They are two deep on the shelf. A lot of doubles. I'll never build them all but some are collectible to the right fan so I wouldn't open them anyway. All the non NASCAR is stuff I have hoarded in and keep in different states of completion.

A close up of some of the better NASCAR kits and a USS North Carolina I picked up at the gift shop of the real USS NC museum on vacation.

Would be keen to hear your opinion on it? Been looking at the AEW version for a while. Only thing stopping me is the name REVELL. I also saw that Airfix are releasing the AEW version later this year, so now I'm kinda unsure which to go with?!

So an update on my stash, which has developed somewhat since I last posted in Dec..... There are another 11 models (including my long time goal of a Nimrod) sitting awaiting me when I visit the UK next, which are not pictured here, and the four I'm currently working on. Its still no where near as impressive as some of your collections, but for me, the sudden increase is enough to confirm I have a problem, and need counselling!

Well I haven't started building it yet, but my initial opinion was pretty good. I've built some of their older 1/72 stuff, and they seem to have improved (at least from my experience). Surface detail is very nice, but there is flash on some places that you'll have to deal with. Makes me wish everyone could pull off a kit like Tamiya...They did seem to do really well with ejector pin placement. Some parts have no pin marks at all where you'd expect at least one or two. The instrument panel had a surprising amount of raised detail as well. Not sure yet if I'll try to paint it or use the decal with solution. I watched a video build of it and it seemed to go together with no real fit issues. It also comes OOB with flaps and you can position the gear up or down. I'm excited to get cracking on it!

Thanks Scott I think it's got out of hand a bit, a lot of the hasegaw kits I bought 20 years ago some even have the cig decals with them before everyone went mad and stopped supplying them with the kits.
