I think you just redefined "stash"
I think if my car could talk we wouldn't be friends much longer
Talking cars?...reminds me of a Robert Heinlein novel...

yeah 3m ceilings....I'm going to have to buy a 4 step step ladder. Realised that yesterday when a chair wouldn't cut it.Twokidsnosleep wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2017 5:32 am Holy shite what a stash!!!

Well I was digging around in the loft and I found them some of the made kits boxes are in a dirty/dusty condition. Although I've looked inside to identify the contents are in a poor state and need some TLC before taking pictures, I will as I unpack them so I get the before/after.
But for now here is my F1 stash, these are to the best of my knowledge original 60's & 70's kits one even still has the glue and an electric motor!

This one I bought in Nov last year it's a 2017 re-release
Somewhere I've also got the Honda RA 273, McLaren M23 Marlboro and Yardley Fords they could in the boxes I've not unpacked fingers crossed
All I need do now is find the Ferrari's 312B, 312T, 312T4, Wolf WR1 Ford and the J.P.S. Lotus 72D I'll have all the 60's & 70's kits that's going to be a tall order, the other question is do I build them?

Don't get me crying over my four 1/8 auto kits that deserve to see the light of day and cost me a fortune
I think I may indeed be a hypocrite criticizing you
I think only the Matra has a motor, Tamiya did that a lot back in the late 60's and 70's, some of their current kits that use the old tooling still have the mouldings for the batteries and motor.DrSprue wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2018 2:59 am Wow Kevin.. what amazing treasures! Lol... You should have seen it 5 yrs ago... I purged about 100 kits...lol i need help...
Wow!! That is a really nice collection of car kits. If you (or when you) retire, No problem starting your day!Bullitt3309 wrote: Mon Feb 05, 2018 4:07 am Finally unpacked after 5 plus years of storage... I have a few unbuilt kits...LOL....![]()

Initially I didn't think I'd bought so many kits since last summer - mostly because I've spread them out over three different rooms, and in different piles, so whilst trying to consolidate everything into one big modelling area I was blissfully ignorant of the ever growing stash...
...but two weeks ago I went through all the boxes and put them in Excel and it's safe to say that I don't have to buy any kits for a few years!
I haven't taken a photo of the carnage because it's too messy but I hope to have the new modelling area up in the next week or two and then I will organise all the boxes so I can possibly both navigate the floor space again and perhaps take a photo to remind me that I perhaps don't have to buy too many kits this year... I wrote "perhaps"
Reading this thread made me feel like an amateur compared to some of you so - huge thanks for that! Now I feel sane again!!!
Wow you are going to need a lot of space for those diorama's.Jens wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2018 1:51 am I've just registered here and finding this thread suddenly made me feel much more normal and non-hoarding than I was afraid for?!
To be fair (here comes the excuses...) I've got a couple large projects coming up within the next couple of months like the Entwicklungsfahrzeug Sammlung; a complete lineup of all E-series tanks and variants in 1/35 scale from E-5 to the mighty E-100, and several variants of each one, or the Schwerer Gustav Diorama of the Battle of Sevastopol; based on the 1/72 scale Hobby Boss Dora with some extra train stuff and as much flak and engineers, crew and support as I can fit. It's a really big diorama so it requires more than a handful kits to complete it... These two projects are easily 25 kits in total!
The rest I blame on retail therapy...![]()

I can totally recommend using SCALEMATES as a database in keeping track of your stash.
Also we thread showing our growing embarrassment ( stash ) which we all all quiet happy in having despite us all saying we won't buy any more or we will build faster, but the truth is we love what we have .![]()

I bought an old farm many years ago to restore. In it's current shape I've got 14 rooms on the ground floor and then another floor that isn't even started yet. I had some plans for the future but an accident put a stop to that - and all the restoration work... Luckily I'd done a lot before I took my dive down the stairs...
I have started to add my stash to scalemates.com but I gave up with the paint because that just went too far... I've got all the kits there now at least. (I think I have...?)

I'm going to dedicate one room for just display purposes I think. I had another idea for that room before but now it feels better to use it for modelling?
I've got some critters at home so it'll have to be a room where the dogs can't whip their tails and the cats can't "accidentally" push things over?! I've seen them "accidentally" push my flower pots over on many occasions so it'll have to be a room - with a closed door!
Right now I've got most of my models in the bedroom and in my office but I've run out of space in both so I need to get my new modelling area sorted as soon as possible!
This hobby is very addictive and things quickly outgrew what started as something isolated and organised?!
I hope the rest of you are way more organised but something tells me I'm not the only one with modelling stuff a bit everywhere...![]()
With a story like that we can either admit that we all have the same issue - or the fact that we are so far off his situation that we can continue for many years to hoard... erh, collect kits!digger303 wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 4:53 am Just thought some might see them selves in this, I know I do.

Ah but when you actually stop do we loose or have lost some of our enthusiasm and I would say perhaps that would be worse than falling in with the masses who would easily say we need help.Jens wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 7:00 amWith a story like that we can either admit that we all have the same issue - or the fact that we are so far off his situation that we can continue for many years to hoard... erh, collect kits!digger303 wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 4:53 am Just thought some might see them selves in this, I know I do.

I think that when you have enough kits to last you another 200 years or so it's perhaps time to start thinking about slowing down, but when has a stamp collector too many stamps? It's all down to how you see it. I build my kits and I have every intention to do so, but I can see some of my kits taking an awful long time to reach that stage...
I'm the type of guy that ignores the tape ruler and pretends I'm going to live forever! At least I did until a few years ago...digger303 wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2018 7:23 am
Just as a aside to this blurb.
Take a tape ruler mark your present age to the corresponding number on it. Now mark expected life expectancy the difference being what you have left.
I find that damn sobering![]()

We are going to need pic's for sure and probably a build thread for 1/18 stuffDRUMS01 wrote: Sun Mar 25, 2018 5:55 am Still pretty new to this forum, and completely new to this thread. Whats hiding?, well nearly 300 kits mixed from every subject and stemming from older 60-70's molds to current items. One of my most recent gifts I received for my stash were two Verlinden battling mid-evil knights.
My stash varies from ground military (mostly armor and artillery); to aircraft of all brands and scales from 1/144 to 1/18. Ships to include Hellers HMS Victory, the Titanic, a 1/72 WW2 submarine, a wood center section of the Constitution including all decks ballast and guns, the Bizmark and Arizona, and many more. My automotive stash has countless cars of every brand and scale from 1/32 through 1/8 (mostly 1/24, 1/16, and 1/12th).
I also have a stash of military vehicles to include a couple M113 APC's, a M577 Command Post Carrier, a M109 (155 SP Howitzer) as well as a M110 (8 inch Howitzer), M60 and M1 armor, M88 TRV, etc. Of course that does not include many Allied , Axis, and other modern war machines from all countries.
On another modeling curve, I also disassemble die-cast, mostly 1/18, and re-model them into (IMHO) better and more detailed versions (too many in my stash to count). I have a stash of 1/18 aircraft that I have been also re-modeling into more detailed variants. They fly low level sorties for close air support over the rest of my collection. One 1/18 item that is interesting to re-model is the 1/18 scale tanks. I have completed the M48 Walker Bulldog light tank (to include a scratch interior), but still have a Tiger, Panther, M1, Sherman, and several others in the stash to model (or re-model).
Heck, in reality I don't think I will ever get them all built in my lifetime. But I believe I read it here indicating that we are always hunting for the next kit or something that is new. It is part of the hobby and fuels our desires to build that next big "thing"; or rebuild something from the past to make it bigger, better, and improve our skills.

Use scalemates it is pretty good and doesn't actually take that long to do. It will even let you designate a storage spot for each kit plus , purchase price, how many of each kit. Books are included too and upgrade kits, pe, figures and will even group together what upgrade kit is applicable to what kits in your inventory.DRUMS01 wrote: Sat Jun 16, 2018 5:54 am Well here is a small portion of what is in my stash, sorry about the mess, my wife is a pack rat:
1/16 Richard Petty STP NASCAR Charger, 1/16 Kubelwagen, 1/16 Jag SS100, 1/16 Lamborghini LP500S, 1/16 Ferrari Koenig Testerossa, 1/16 Lancia Stratos Turbo, 1/25 General 4-4-0 Steam Locomotive, 1/16 Ferrari GTO
Seven 1/12 F1 kits, 1/20 Triumph TR7, 1/20 Porsche 917 short tail, 1/20 Corvair Monza GT
Heck with it, here are more photos of the some of lot:
And YES, boxes more of unbuilt kits mostly military land and aircraft, and more autos (at least 75 combined).....
This does not count the other side of the basement![]()
I think I need to make an inventory sheet for all of this![]()
