This thing is huge and is gonna be an epic build, not only due to its size but also the amount of aftermarket I've added to it

To add to the pics of got a full decal set and stencil set, plus the aires afterburner cans too.

The burner cans and decal sets arrived today.

The 2 decal sets cost £40 not cheap but there is a lot to them

The scheme ill be doing

So the clock strikes 12. and the 2015 builds start

Lots of pe and removing plastic, is gonna take a while but it'll be worth it

2 hours to do 4 map pockets and glue a few cockpits parts together lol

Takes up rather a lot of room in the cave, and don't be taking the micky out of my simpsons slippers

Good start Paul! I haven't started mine yet, but I've started on my modern armour entry! Hope to start the Hunter in morning (oops, it's 05:40 already!)

Ok so bit more progress to day

This is all the photo etch just for the cockpit, and any raised surface detail has to be removed to allow the self adhesive panels to stick down properly

Primed with badger black primer

Then painted in what i thought was the correct interior colour.

Turns out the su-30 has a darker grey blue interior, i only noticed as the colour zoom pe is a weird lilac colour so with that in mind a mixed paint in between both colours so the difference wasn't an obvious. No idea why the pe is purple but will tone it don with a fe washes

Painted in the grey blue mix and the panels stuck on

The zoom pe is superb though double layer to give the 3d effect

That cockpit wow that looks cracking. And by the looks of things you will still be doing those stencils in 2016

SO back to this monster.

Got started on the Wolfpack resin seats, by first sawing of the large resin plug

The resin components of the seat, ill be adding some parts of the coloured pe to the seats too

The completed seats, i took of the leg extensions and will replace with coloured pe parts once done

They were then primed in badger grey primer and painted in mr hobby tyre black. I then dry brushed with humbrol (yes humbrol

) Metalcote to give a very worn look.

I then detail painted the seats padding and harness, and as shown in the right pic these parts were given a black/brown oil wash. Once dry ill remove the excess and hopefully they will look good.

Both seats oil washed. all the black parts were given a grey oil wash, again once dry ill remove the excess

The gun was airbrushed in alclad gunmetal and again dry brushed in metalcote, then given a black oil wash

The wings were assembled including the rods and pe parts to allow movement

Same on the front too

All glued and clamped together

And ready for the next step

SO got one of the seats done this afternoon , its a mixture of the wolfpack resin seat and eduard colour pe set. I removed all the excess oil wash from yesterday before starting. This one seats pe took about 2.5 hours to do, i think it looks ok

Test fitted into the cockpit, its a tight fit

Got the other seat PE done tonight, took a lot less time on this one so wasn't too tedious.

I then started on the upper an lower fuselage pe parts including the giant piece in front of the gun port, this took a lot of work and thank god i bought some acetone the other day to removed excess glue.

Upper and lower mock up, this thing is starting to look huge now

You could build it out the box just fine, but it'll be lacking lot of detail the aftermarket will add.

Anyway got the cockpit tub installed, all the pe parts on the fuselage and all the landing gear bays glued in place. fuselage was screwed together showing a bit of work needed to sort the seem out. I think gluing in sections letting it dry before moving to the next one will be the key here, there will be a fair bit of filling and saddening needed too, nothing too drastic but non the less.

I then got the wings glued in place, again needing a bit of work to get them to sit flush with the upper surface, ill tackle the lower surface once the tops dry. I test fitted the nose cone in place and with that you can see the size of this thing lol

I just had a good read through of this build, that's a serious amount of bling going into this one Paul ! Just looking at those stencils gave me palpitations lol !
It's looking really nice mate, the cockpit is a work of art really packed with detail.
And it must be a good size in this scale too
