1/16th Taigen Tiger I

I wasn't sure where to post this since this is for static models but here goes.
I bought myself an R/C tank, a Taigen Tiger I. I couldn't afford an Armour tek one so this will have to suffice. Not being into R/C stuff I was advised that this was one of the best.
It comes very well packed withw each box carrying a number of codes for the parts contained within the box. Parts are in individual coded bags that correspond to the relevant sections in the instructions. The outer hull shell is an ABS type plastic and the inner hull is a fairly hefty metal stamping. The road wheels, sprockets, idlers, swingarms, torsion bushings, torsion bars are all metal, either a casting or a machined piece. Road wheels have rubber tyres and are the correct interleaved design. Turret is a casting and a turned metal barrel and muzzle brake are provided. As this is an R/C model Metal gearboxes are proved with metal gears and brash bushings. Drive gearboxes for the turret and gun elevation/recoil are also provided. Either an infrared or Airsoft firing system is provided. What you don't get is an R/C mother board or sound system, but they're on the way. When the power went out yesterday and light was insufficient to build I hooked up some temporary lights from the car to garage and started building this as well it's easy to see. So 18hrs later this is where I'm at. Oh it's weighs about 12kgs.

Tracks are metal casting. Holes in the bow plate are to attach the spare track bracket. Gun barrel and muzzle brake are turned metal.


Wheels, sprockets, idlers are all machined castings. All the fittings are either machine screws or self tappers fro plastic fittings.


Wheels have rubbers tyres, tracks re all metal castings.

Well that's the fun part over now I have to paint it. Get a decent set of decals as the supplied ones are crap and buy the rest of the R/C gear.

That's amazing. That's also a fantastic looking kit Charles. You could spend a small or large fortune just dressing her up. And she's no discount kit to begin with.
All the parts and shapes look good a few look exceptional for that scale.
Are those tracks a single piece or are they individual links?
Those tow ropes look spectacular too.

Coen, They are individual links. 94 links to side each link is held in by a pin, not unlike Fruil tracks, that you hammer in place.

The kit was A$498. You can one that costs about A$290 but it's got the cheaper gearboxes and plastic wheels.

Great work there dude, I'm interested to see how your going to paint such a large bottle, going to need a lot of dunklegelb! Just one thing to consider due to the size of the model your shades and modulation techniques will have to differ to that of a 1 35 scale kit. I think as the scale increases you have to make the colour darker but I'm not sure, I think I know a certain Mr Coen that could help you with this.
