Tasca, 1/24 scale Zundapp KS750 Motorcycle with Sidecar

Back in February of 2014 Texas Andy or TacticalJackilope as he's known on youtube gave me Tasca's 1/24th scale Zundapp motorcycle with sidecar out of the kindness of his big heart.



As soon as I opened it I was flabbergasted by how nice the kit was. The detail was astounding... so were the fiddly bits... but that's for later.
Almost as soon as I got home from the post office I popped the box and rooted through the bits.

I decided right away to get some figures to compliment such a wonderful kit and I settled on these little beauties from Modelcellars Productions. Wicked expensive but probably the best figures that I've ever seen or built in resin.




As soon as the figures arrived I jumped right into the build.

It didn't take long however, before I was weighted down by fiddliness of the kit. The figures were sublime and I'd happily build dozens of the type if they're like these. The motorcycle has so many tiny delicate parts that I ended up breaking and repairing more than I was building.
I managed to get the bike built and ready for paint a long with the figures but I had no mojo left for the build. So it sat on my shelf until late last night.

Here is what it looked like last night.

The figures had been base painted washed and detailed and the base mocked up... that's about it.

detailed and first wash of burnt umber on the skin and lamp black on the clothing...





Drybrushed in a light sand colour...



Then they sat for about a month until I finished my series on Bastogne.
Last night I finished the base and called it done.
It's not the best base I've every done. I don't much like the look of the tree and I tried a new product for long matted grass that I didn't much care for.
I know now how I might use it better though, so it was a win in the end.
Originally it was supposed to be a late spring early summer setting, but because the base looked so bad it turned into an early spring.
