Air America Bell 205 - Italeri 1/48 UH-1D

Post by TheWeasel »

Phew, looks like I still managed to finish this one just before time ran out. I did not enjoy this build as much as I hoped I would. Nor has it turned out as good as I wanted it to be, but I can finally move on to other projects, that will hopefully be better.

Here's them pictures:

Why was it not very enjoyable?

This kit has EPMs everywhere and lots of flash to go with it. The fit is awful. Hard to get the halves together with the interior in place. The clear pieces are horrible. Warp and magnify like crazy - I replaced the windscreen and the cockpit door windows with scratch built ones out of the cover of a binder. And last but not least the stencils I painstakingly cut for the registration number and air america ended up not working at all :| Without time to redo them, I painted both on with a toothpick - and it looks irregular :|

But, I guess I got to practice some things, so on to happier projects

Great work on powering through. It's the tough ones that we learn from and they also help us appreciate better engineered kits.
