Revell 1/72 Junker Ju 88 A-4/D-1, My Wifes 2nd build.

Post by Daishi12 »

Just received this morning my wifes 2nd ever model kit, Revell 1/72 Junkers Ju88 A-4/D-1 from our new friends at http://www.emodels.co.uk

First impression was that delivery was very quick and a lot of communication from Emodels with regard to order status. Kit arrived well packed in a bubble pack envelope with cardboard strengtheners around the kit.

Initial impression of the kit is that it is quite clean with few ejector pin or sink marks. I think that this is one of the older Revell moulds as it actually contains the crew figures :)

Yes this is the older tool. I have both this and the new tool (which is beautiful but more than twice the price in some places).

I plan to do mine as a what-if RAF coastal command aircraft.

I look forward to seeing it done.

2nd Day of build.

Engines assembled :-
DSCN0837smallest.JPG
The exhaust manifolds were a bit of a mare to install and needed a few dry runs to get right.

Engines primed (Tamiya fine surface primer)
DSCN0838smallest.JPG
Engines then base coated with Tamiya Gun Metal with exhaust manifolds painted in a mix of Tamiya silver and hull red.

very good build :) word of warning - when I built this kit there was only room for one bomb on each wing because the two pylons were too close together,

Thanks for the tip, we have found that the bomb pylon doesn't quite follow the wing profile so there will need to be a bit of filling on the pylon.
