Ooo! Another 1/48! Awesome, it will be cool to see this come together.

Never seen this kit before, how's it coming along mate?

OK, Im going to do something really crazy and try to blitz through this build- yet still to the highest level of quality. Some might be aware i'm still in the middle of the Modern Armour SIG, but I will do both at the same time.
This is quite an easy kit and I want to spend more time doing the oil paint rendering/ weathering. Maybe I will do another tiger for this SIG

Wheels glued and cleaned! I forgot how many there were on Tigers....
I also started the rear with some PE mudflaps & the exhaust shield (I will only install 1x)

PE mudflaps on. 48!!

I wouldn't use the box art as a colour reference though... those are some unusual colour choices by the artist.

Just primed and painted the beast.

I really like this cartoon drawing:

3 hrs later, Tracks are all drilled and cleaned up.
I used 0.6mm drill piece to drill

Gorgeous, really looking forward to seeing more of it!

Shell damage looks good on the fenders and turret, don't envy the Trackwork though!..

Thanks mate. Yeah I thought I would try to heat up a nail over the stove and just dab on here and there. To me, the effects look quite real like images I've seen. It's very similar to the melted area where the round penetrates.

Its looking the bizz mate.

Its a truly awesome build mate (good reminder on tracks, and need for me to get Burnishing Liquid).

Do you know what is I'm the burnishing fluids? I find that it's quite expensive as I use 3/4 bottle for one tank. I mix it with a bit of water to get more but $16 pretty much gets you 1 set of tracks.

I want to see if there's something on a larger scale like 200-300ml. 100ml is pretty limited

My absolute favourite part of modelling.... Applying OILS. I love it.
TIP: get yourself a good blending brush

Hello guys, I just finished my best figures to date. these 1:48's are better than any of my 1:35's figures
I really enjoyed doing the red pinstripe. Hoping my figures get better as i gain more experience.

Good brushes really do help out- kid you not. I used my Winsor & Newton series 7 sable brushes.

Now ready for the diorama...
some bits and pieces I will be using. Funny I stole the rubble from my university today. Hope whatever they are constructing won't collapse

This is looking mighty fine. Love the oils sets you've used and those figures look great!

I personally think that Oils are the special ingredient in afv modelling. They just bring so much life into your models with their colours. Don't you agree?

Here is my plan for the diorama. what do you think of this positioning?
the tank will not be glued in place but the 2 figures and trees will.
Tree at the back right? not at the front...

I love the figure handing the biscuit to the commander... " here sir, have a cookie"

Thanks guys. I'm having great fun with it and happy that you guys enjoy it also. That's what it's all about.

Here is the base before weathering and shrubs.
Paints used: lifecolour and Vallejo MC

I will be using Woodland scenics and/or vallejo still water at the end

First time I tried this splash technique and it worked very well.







I've also glued on the figures to the base.
Used Verlinden static grass and J's scenic kit for the groundwork.
Everything was glued in place with Sand and gravel fixer

I'm not totally happy with the creek/ river. Too blue- not true.
When the water layer dries, I will be adding brown water to hid the strong blue

What a tremendous kit and build this came out to be. For this SIG, I didn't really want to do a step by step as there are many many pages from other modellers on tigers here. I wanted this to be a brief snapshot build, highlighting some ideas and maybe provide some inspiration for other builders.
This was my first proper own-made diorama and I had great fun creating this scene.

Funny thing, another ISM member completed the same kit and figures + tree diorama. I had no idea when I started Guess we both wanted chow.

A tribute video and reveal pics will be posted in the relevant section soon! Peace.
