Glad to see the Mid production kit. I always wanted to know if there were a lot of differences with the Tamiya kits like the Dragon kits have. Post lots of pictures!

I hadn't realised that tamiya gave the option to leave the first road wheel off and give you the blank hub. I've built all of Tamiya tigers but this one, so that's a nice surprise. I'm interested to see what else you have there Martin

haha.

right back on it again, in this update i will be working on the back plate and all the P E around the hull and top deck.
this went well the P E fitted a treat around and over the holes,
the small parts i used super glue and the bigger parts i used P V A glue witch i found i needed to put plenty on for it to bond well.
i was a bit upset about this front panel were it does not line up i tried them different ways round but it was no different so it will have to do .
next up was the top deck which went on with no probs .
then all the rear end parts put on over the P E , so far so good .
I did notice that 2 barrels were supplied with the kit at first glance thay look the same but close inspection shows that one has a larger muzele break
then the other, not sure whitch one i should use for mid production .
well thats it for now thancks for looking.

That looks awesome Martin. That misalignment of the pe on the bow is common on all pe zim sets for tiger Is. It's not something that you did bud.
For the barrels you
L want the larger one. The smaller one is for very late war tiger Is and the tiger II.

new update .
had a good bit of time to spend on the tiger today , the wife is out of the hospital now after a long stay over the xmas period , so no more long trips to
go and see her .
iam of for a week now to give her some much needed t l c .
anyway this is where we are at the moment .
finished of the zim around the turret and gun mantle
the gun mantle was a bit fidley but did not come out to bad .
and the turret hatch.
next up was to glue the breach and gun together ,
made up the hatches and gun rail ,and other bit to the top turret plate.
next up i cut and tremed the tools and cables ready for priming and painting , i will paint these of the tank .
then just for a change i made up some fuel drums , these are quite nice .
i was looking at the paint scheme and checked one of my books and found the same no tank that i want to do that was good .
so now then this is were we ended up at end of play today , still waiting for my P E grills to turn up been awhile now .
oh i nearly forgot i did a bit of bending and twisting of the track covers if thats what there called ?.
before i go this set came today its a nice set the hand pump is nicely detailed .
thats it for now , thanks for looking ,
it is great to see all these tiger 1s .

I hadn't heard about your wife Martin. I'm glad that she's home though, I hope all is well.
The tiger looks excellent and you've done and eawesome job on the zimmerit. I really like that choice for the subject, she's going to look awesome!

Thanks for your comments . Hopefully she will be ok it was a bit of a close call .
yeah the tiger should hopefully look smart when it's done ,
not sure weather to hand paint the camo pattern or airbrush it free hand?

Myself I would freehand airbrush it. Practice for a few moments before you start spraying on the model by spraying on a piece of paper. Mimic the pattern that you want as best you can, then move to the model when you get comfortable with it.

hi to every one sorry for the lack of up dates , but iam in the middle of a life changing part of my life at the moment .
just to say i have taken early retirment to care for my wife .
so that being said here are my latest up dates , there are some caps where i forgot to take photos.
camo pattern done as per instructions , useing tamiya paint .
made the arail out of strech spuce .
After the camo i added the filters then the gloss coates then i used U M P light and dark dirt and some fine soil out of the garden mixed with white glue ,
this is a picture of the layout .
the trees i made from dried grape storks and railway modeling flock .
thats it , the whole finished project is over on the revel page .
