Hi Guys,

This will be my entry for the shelf of doom:



I got this kit from my son.
He kinda forgot that my thing is WW2 armer.
But of course I couldn't leave it unbuild.
I didn't quite know what to do with it though...

And then I read about this SIG!

I am going to saw it in half diagonally!
And make it sunk in a swamp somewhere moist!

That'll be a new thing for me!

Here's what it looks like now.
Completely built and not painted:





Next up:
I'm gonna glue the turret into place and draw a diagonal line across the thing.
And just take out my saw and hack away!!

Hi guys,

First update already!

First I taped the line where I wanted to cut.







Then I drew the line with a marker, took the tape of and started sawing away!

And this was the result.





And this is the other half.





And this is what fell of during sawing. The parts that will be visible in the dio, I put back on.



I placed the 'half tank' on the base for the dio.
The nice thing about this cutting away what I don't need is that the dio can be very thin/shallow/slender..
And I don't have to use tons of stuff to sink it into.











I could make a second dio with the other half!
That's 2 for the price of 1



Well this is really all for now.

Back soon with painting the half track...... uh half tank.

Hi guys,

Back with a dio update, not a paint update.

I made an edge around the base to keep the clay and the dirt-glue-water mixture from sliding of.



I laid down the groundwork with DAS clay.





When this was dry I dapped a thin layer of the dirt-glue-water mixture on it.





I added a little stone debris, leaves and twigs and twogs









And some bushes from Joefix Studios





And pressed the M109 in place

I just bought Deluxe solid water on ebay to create a puddle of water around the M109.
I saw Hamilkar Barkas working with it and that turned out awesome!
You can heck out his great video here (but undoubtedly everone's allready seen it!)

Hi guys,

Did some painting on the M109.
I would have loved to paint it in desert colors. But the desert most often is very dry and not so swampy.
So it's more of a US or Europe setting. So the camo should be accordingly.
As the pattern is not with hard color edges but with a tiny transition blur, I tried to achieve this effect
by making little rolls of putty to make the paint fan out a bit. It turned out to sharp edged anyway.
But I can live with it. Maybe the rolls should have been a bit thicker.

Anywho, here's the result:

Hi guys,

I did some pigments and metal effects on the M109.
And I painted the base. Dark brown for the lower parts and a lighter tone for the higher parts.
To give an extra idea of depth and of moist in the lower parts. I dapped some glossy varnish in
the lower parts to make them look extra moist. (not yet done in the pictures..)
On the higher parts a glued some static grass.
With some extra dirt mixture I fixed the M109 to the base and filled some gaps in the process.









Next up is painting of the tracks. And the pouring of the 'solid water' (when it has arrived...)

No, no figures.
This is my only post WW2 vehicle and I don't have any post WW2 figures.
And I thought of it more as an abandoned vehicle. It being stuck an all.
They even took the machine gun with them.

That's some damn nice work Han. A great idea for the kit on your shelf that your not quite happy with as well. I've got a couple that could fit that bill.
