Hello everyone

Post by Eusi »

Hi Guys,

Figured I would take a minute to say hello and introduce myself.

My name is Matt, I am 28, currently living in Connecticut USA. Fairly new to scale modeling. My background is in miniature painting, been painting figures of all scales for over 15 years. About a year ago I discovered all the wonderful modelling videos on YouTube (many of which are by ISM members). After a few months of watching anything and everything I could get my hands on, I started buying models. After a few months and more money spent than I can admit to, I had a size-able stash of mostly armor and ships with a few planes and helicopters added in for good measure. Eventually I realized that the kits would not build themselves.

My first build was a 1/72 Hasegawa Super Cobra which I painted completely with a size 0 paintbrush and managed to silver the decals beyond what I thought was possible. Shortly after that ordeal I picked up an airbrush and compressor. My second model was a Zvezda 1/35 BTR-70. That was my first go at using weathering pigments and suffice it to say was a learning experience. That followed by a few more practice models. I also very slowly started building the Trumpeter 1/350 USS Hornet with all the PE add ons I could find. In the mean time I also realized that instead of trying to teach myself completely new techniques I should adapt what I know from figure painting. So without further ado, here are a few pictures of my most recently completed builds.

Still a lot to improve on and a lot to learn. Looking forward to getting to know all of you and learning from you guys.

Currently on my workbench is a Dragon Tiger 2 Ardennes Offensive edition, 1/35. An amazingly fun kit to build, needs primer and paint.
A Hobby Boss 1/35 Swedish CV-90. Straightforward, quick build. Needs primer and paint. Looking forward to this one quite a bit. Going with the UN white scheme.
A Pegaso Models 75mm Teutonic Grandmaster figure and a bunch of random 28mm figures for various commissions and eBay bound projects.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the warm welcome.

Time to get building/painting. Will probably get a build thread going soon to help with getting some projects finished. Maybe even a YouTube video here and there.
