Don't pick on the new kid....

Post by Shinner »

Hi all, just a quick hello and thanks to the admins for letting me in..........you might need to set your firewall filters higher! :wall:

Greetings from Sydney Australia.

I only ever did basic boy hood models when I was younger, no paint, tons of glue, decals slapped on where I thought they looked good and watching them burn with a cracker up the tail pipe or having crashed and burned in the incinerator but the interest in modelling has never left me. Now that I have more time on my hands I am getting into the hobby seriously now and daily my primitive skills are improving and so if I ask the classic newbie question that has everyone slapping their forehead and yelling at the computer screen "what is this idiot on about or how could he not know that?" May I take this opportunity to apologise in advance.

I don't have a preference at this stage as to what I prefer to model but I have an attraction towards the Naval side of modelling as I was in the Navy for 20 years and I guess some affection for ships slipped into the salt water in my veins. But at this stage I am willing to try anything to get my skillset up to speed.

Cheers and see you in the forums.

Jason

Hi Jason

Had a laugh when I read about the bit about tons of glue and crackers up tail pipes, brings back some memories there! Why were they banned again

Welcome to the forums from me (I'm quite new here myself) Seem like a friendly bunch here so I wouldn't worry about asking questions :th:

Cheers

Made me laugh too. We used to build :ship:, fill them with anything flammable, and set them ablaze floating down the creek! :ooops:
That stopped when we finally put the brush fire out after the last one. :shhh:

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I am getting my first model sorted out now........it was given to me by a guy who had no interest in it anymore. A 1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster with all the White Ensign photo etch for interior and exterior as well as the flaps. I will be posting some progress picks for everyone to laugh at in the near future once I take my dress off and grow a set.
