What putty does not dissolve plastic?

I recently used large amounts of Tamiya Filler basic grey for filling, and when I returned the next day, I found the plastic had lost all it's structural strength and it had caved in on itself. This is probably due to it's solvent based nature. However, I am now on the hunt for a non solvent based filler. Any suggestions?

I use squadron green putty softened with IPA and not seen any issues if that helps at all

already used this stuff and never had any trouble like that.

I recently changed for the vallejo that you can wipe the excess with water.

PAul recently find back and re used the good method of putting a few pieces of sprue in an almost finished TET pot wich gives him a muddy-like melded plastic (depending on the ration PLastic/glue). The big pro of that method is that you haven't got any shrinkage when dry and is easily sanded as it'is plastic.

I think..... after reading your post again...
the fact you mention... (I used a LARGE amount of Tamiya putty)... is the key to the issue !

How much did you use exactly ? remains a question.

one of the best.... filler or sculpt putty that doesn't interact with substrates beside sticking to it... is AVES Apoxie Putty sculpt!

It has Zero shrinkage and loves the knife, burrs, drills, etc....
but it takes 3hrs to dry... so, not for quick jobs...

Most other putty out there... will shrink over time and crack .... given enough time!
this stuff is Museum safe. this stuff won't crack or shink after its completely cured... used in restoration work and all that...
you can even give it texture and sculpt entire pieces out of it ! almost like a Soap stone !

if not sure... buy one of their sample pack and see if it does the work for ya !

Yes, Perfect Plastic putty works well. I just wish it had a nice "applicator" like the Valejo putty.

Can anyone confirm what Perfect Plastic actually is? I would have to guess that it's primarily ceramic, since the smell reminds me of a porcelain/china repair cement that I've used in the past. Second guess would be latex-based, but I see no allergy warning on the tube. Maybe it's styrene-based, like Minwax carpentry filler?
