Stug III G early, Tamiya

Hello all you plastic lovers out there,

this will be the first public post of my modelling work and i am a little nervous right now.

so lets see what i have done so far. The model is nearly ready only some pigment work on the flash suppressor, a little bit of dust on top af the Stug and some mud on the tracks and wheels and the lower hull. Eventualy i add some plants as extra camouflage (whats the right word for this, i dont know).

During the build i testet a bunch of techniques i have seen on youtube. So this is more an alpha test of modelling work for me.
Next post will show the finished Stug and some more explanations what i have altered and what techniques was used during the build.

Gnarfotron is now practising the technique of "duck and cover" whilst waiting for the first comments. If i survive the first hits, i will return to my bench an finishing the work.

Hello all again,

first big thx for your coments. I'am still alive and have done some moddeling to finish the little Stug. During the pic preperation for uploading i mentioned some little mistakes on the model. I see a long way in front of me leading to better models. Next one will be better.

Now some pics for free:


pic 1: and first little loosnes, the inside of the muzzle brake is not fully covered with black pigments. Next time i will use matt black to paint the part and use the pigments only for finishing.


pic 2: here i have an clean suspension on an lightly dirty Tank. Notice: dont forget to do weathering all over the model!!!
Also the decal is way to glossy, but i dont know how to fix that.

I have altered and improved some parts of this kit. So i added lot's of battledamage all over the model. Mostly on the front armor plates and the side skirts. I used a dremel like tool and a rounded drillbit. The sideskirts has get some penetration holes and some cutting and bending. Some of the hit's are painted with iron color to simulate fresh damage. The originaly mounting system of the "Schürzen"-armor was completely removed. On the lower row of hooks i added small angles from PE-scrap. The top row of mounting points has get new small parts to attach on. The armor is fixed with a small wire from old pc-cables. This was my field modification.
The inside is painted in white, the hull in ocher. The chipping was made with gun gray and sponge technique. All small parts (tools, jerrycans, tracks, ..) were painted seperatly. The towing ropes are made from old pc-wires. The cables and the lifting jack are painted in iron and gets several layers of an dark wash. I have rubbed away the wasch after a little while with an cotton bud to show usage on this parts. All tracks (smaller parts and the rubber parts) are painted in rust-color. The spare tracks gets some rust pigments on it, the rubber tracks get some dry brushing with iron color. Some edges of the Stug gets also lightly dry brushing with iron color. The shells were made from grenades from an aftermarket ammunition kit. I cut of the top and drilled a small hole in these parts. Last addition was the antennas. There where made from thin single wire also from the old wires. I used superglue and small pieces of thin rubber sleeves to attach the antennas on the Stug. I applyed some layers of an light brown wash all over the tank.
At last i aplyed some mud using dark mud and dry mud pigments. The lower hull and the tracks gets some mud on it using diluted wood glue and the two pigments. On the top of the Stug i added only the dry mud pigments without any glue.
The dried plants (i dont know what kind of plant that is) was attched to complete the build.

So thats all for today.
