just a kit i have finished today.

a bit of a test kit this one, but it turned out ok.

what i tried to achive was some different ways i do the standard finishing of a plane kit. First this has no post shading, no wash and very little weathering.

why ? well i have been watching a accomplished modeller called Paul Budsik he has been modelling alot of years and i stumbled across his videos on youtube, his technics are outstanding IMO, his appoach to finishing and eye for detail is way above what i can normally achive.

so saying that i thought lets give it ago.

the kit is very basic with some nice detail exactly what i needed so i can just concentrate on the bits i want to improve.

panel lines: a grey primer, then a quick rescribe through the primer, wet sanded with 2000 grit.
main colors : tried to get a very smooth finish, keeping the paint wet with no runs.
panel lines final: rescribe through the top coat, not for the faint hearted this but it give a very scale effect for panel lines.
this means the primer colour becomes your line shade.
i used a fine pin ink wash for the riveting keeping it very subtle.
canopy had all the raised bits sanded off and polished back, messed up there, while polishing i cracked the canopy.
I painted some decal paper and cut the canopy lines and decalled the canopy, this was a first for me aswell. dipped it in klear and just managed to get away with it, not perfect but ok.

NO klear coat. totally relying on the smooth paint finish i decalled, thay came out well and also rubbed some enamel thinners on them to dissolve the carrier film.

final details attached.
finished with satin coat.
see what you think guys
