Oddling addition: Loyd Carrier with mounted 25 pdr gun.

Hi guys,

Here's another addition to my 'oddling collection'!

The inspiration was this picture:

This is all the text referring to it:
"What else is there? Well, my favorite option for a tracked, self-propelled anti-tank gun using a good chassis and WWII technology would be a Loyd Carrier with a 6-pdr. Here's a 25-pdr that they actually tried, so it's well within the capabilities of WWII designers."

These are all the references I could find. So I didn't have a lot to go on.
For combining the gun to the carrier I had to improvise.

And here are the results up to the point of painting:

This is the Bronco kit of the carrier.
This is not a 'beginners' kit!! It's a kit for modelers with steady hands and nerves of steel!
So many parts! And lots of them so tiny, you'd think they belong to a 1/76 scale kit!
But I survived.



This is the Tamiya kit for the gun:



The gun was done pretty quickly; considering I needed only a few parts of the whole kit.



The engine.





The beginning of the lower hull. (This alone took me hours and hours....)





Putting in the engine:

I had to leave out some chairs to make room for the gun mount.



The model finished:









I don't think this vehicle ever saw action.
But I put in a soldier, awaiting orders.
Just in case...

Yeah, all the PE came with the kit.
And there was even more. But I didn't need to use it, 'cause it wasn't in the picture.

The fit was good, but there were a truckload of flimsy little parts.
And it was hard to glue them together straight.
But if you manage that, there is a lot of detail!
